1.
Hello all Could someone who owns one please advise the interior dimensions of one of these cases? Thanks Gareth
If you can tell me what dimensions you need, I measure mine. Frank.
2. Woohoo. The first USA Jaguar bass I've seen for sale here. These are superb and very versatile instruments. Highly recommended. Frank.
3. I've been away for three nights and not been on the net at all. As soon as I clicked to open basschat tonight, up it pops again. I'm sick of these people. Frank.
4. Completed. Frank.
5. There's a "wanted" ad for one of those by spongebob. Might be worth a PM? These are great cases too. Frank.
6. There's a used GK MB200 for sale on here. These are louder than you might expect. I love mine. Frank.
7. I definately wouldn't be afraid to stand on my Barefaced cabs. The nature of the internal bracing makes them very strong. I've been a Barefaced user since 2008/9 and have been gigging Barefaced cabs exclusively since then. I've never sustained any significant damage. Small chips can be painted over although I've never done even that. Frank.
8. I have a one10 (plus two other Barefaced cabs - see signature) so I know the cab quite well. I did have a pair of Markbass Traveller 2 x 10s about 9 - 10 years ago, so the experience isn't that recent. But the Traveller cabs, stacked four in a row, was a great sounding rig. A bit middy, not in a bad way, but with enough lows to sound smooth. This is just a guess as I don't have a two10, but I'd guess the real-world performance is similar. The two10 would have perhaps slightly more volume and certainly more bottom but the Travellers are a perfectly acceptable, to my ears anyway. A bit of a ramble but I hope it helps a little. (I'd love to try a pair of one10s. I've been tempted to buy another for a long time.) Frank.
9.
Well, to my mind a back up amp has to have a similar output to the amp it is backing up. 200W simply wouldn't be loud enough. But that is for me and my situation.
I can fully understand that. From my point of view though, the backup amp just has to be adequate. Add to that that it has to be small and light and not too expensive. I could definately play a loud gig using an MB200 through a pair of sensitive 1 x 12" cabs. I know this because I've done it, but... we all have differing requirements and that might not suit everyone. As you were. Frank.
10. The performance of these little amps are a total surprise when you first hear them. I've gigged mine a fair few times and, given the right cab, they are easily gig-worthy. They are a great choice as a back-up amp. Frank.
11. Another shout for the GK MB200. I bought mine as a backup but I've used it many times at smaller gigs. It's surprisingly loud and the tone is right up my street. Small, light, loud, great tone, decent DI and cheap - what more do you need from a backup amp? Frank.
12.
I've not had it for about 4 days now, a quick way I've found to get rid of it is to hold down the enter key whilst clicking repeatably on the tab shutdown X edit, doesn't work without a mouse
Yes, I tried that, having read your other post, but it didn't work on the laptop. (No mouse.) Thanks for the advice anyway. Frank.
13. I got it again just now. I've been on the laptop for 40 minutes or so, 1 minute after I opened basschat up the b*****d pops again. Very annoying because it's not easy to get rid of. I use task manager. Frank.
14.
Did it start happening again yesterday?
Yes. I've been getting it once/twice a week for several weeks, always on basschat too. Frank.
15. How does this work Tom? Is it for a two pickup bass? I'm just confused because the 51 style Precision has only one pickup, as we all know. Except mine that is, which has two Seymour Duncan pickups. So I'm interested in this for that reason. Frank.
16.
Thanks to everyone for their suggestions, I really appreciate them all. From what’s been said here and what I’ve heard the SUB or Sterling Ray35 do sound ideal and the new version of the Yamaha BB basses are said to be lighter so that’s a possibility as well. I prefer to try before I buy, so the next step is finding these basses near by - not so easy in rural Dorset! So might have to end up just buying something to give it a go and hope for the best. interpol52 & Frank: USA SUB? I thought they where made in Asia?
The original SUB bass was made in USA between 2003 and 2005. (Or thereabouts.) The story is that they were taking sales away from the Stingray and so losing them money. Whether that's true or an urban legend , I don't know. Frank.
17. Thanks I enjoyed that. My only complaint is that he doesn't tell us the settings - pickup selected and tone settings. These things make a big difference. Frank.
18.
If you can find one then a USA Sub5 is a good choice. I've just got one and I love it!
Agreed. I have a USA SUB 4 and it's superb. High quality at a low cost. Frank.
19. There's a Ray 35 for sale on Belfast gumtree for £500. Well worth a look as it's been modded by the guitar tech owner. Frank.
20. Thinking about it, I've only ever seen one AER amp two combo for sale, and i bought it. And a wonderful sounding bit of kit it is too You see AER amp ones occasionally but I'm not holding my breath for another amp two. Frank.
21. Hiscox are probably the best cases available. I'd try to pad the inside to stop any movement. One of my gig bags (Protection Racket) came with banana shaped pads that velcro to the sides in any position you like. It gives a snug fit for any shape of guitar. It might work for you? Frank.
22. And I genuinely knew a Howard Pease... Frank.
23. Drew Peacock? Frank.
24. I find it's easier to just say "Yes. we'll try to fit that in later", knowing there's no chance. Usually they walk away happy and quickly forget what they asked for. It gets rid of them with minimum discourse. Although that didn't work at all last week when a girl persisted in asking for song requests repeatedly. Later she was so pissed she couldn't speak, which was a relief. Frank.
