1. Flatwounds do emphasize the mwaah a little less than rounds, but the difference isn’t huge unless your flats are dead as can be. Bright flats also help a lot. 2. Not necessarily, Ibby basses are generally good even the cheap ones. You can choose to not look at the lines, so blah blah to the unlined is easier comment. I would advise you to start with practicing the intonation, never mind the vibrato. Also switch off the chorus. Remember that the more meaty the finger the more to the middle of your finger the fretline will need to be to be in tune and your pinkie will likely be sharp if you do the same (more boney). Once intonation is back in shape start giving it more feel with both right and left hand. Also you get more mwaah when you play closer to the neck, heck I often anchor my thumb on the neck....! stop worrying and only play fretless for a bit, you will soon get back into it.

They were made by EBS for Neuser, about ten to fifteen years ago. They were never sold commercially. That said, some people with good EBS connections were able to get their hands on them so you do see them every now and again. If I remember correctly they came in 2 (and maybe also 3 band), had a hi cut/mid-boost setting and a normal setting and were very transparent. Glock like. No more info than that I am afraid.

Another Keely Compressor Pro/Bassist or GC2 supporter. Also the Markbass Compressore is very good. Did not like the Spectracomp at all, to offer some balance against some of the above. Point is I guess that compressor preference is very personal. I generally like DBX160 based compressors (the Keeley's are), others like Urei based pedals, others like Multiband compression.

I often take my little 30” Hohner travel bass. The mrs supports my “need” and as long as I practice when kids are in bed she does not cause me any grief, nor do I cause here grief with her need to read the most depressing quasi-literature she takes along for her enjoyment
