1.
I often wonder that. But also, I wonder if it's about: Looking for happiness in the wrong place Not understanding the difference between want and need Plugging a hole in your life, though you're not aware that the hole actually exists Addiction to wanting Or Just that there are too many nice guitars and basses in the world and we can be fickle beings. Which brings you back to want and need, get that right and the force is with you to resist that GAS. I'm happy to have fun with GAS if I'm not going to lose money, nothing to lose that way.
See Skanks post #10 here: http://basschat.co.u...38#entry2984238
2. Welcome home Skank. That was worth the wait. eyethangyoooo!
3.
Yup. When you play with an educational group that has maybe 8 room changes during a day you don't want a single ounce of unnecessary weight.
OK, I'll concede that one then,
4. I've got a Retro Two10 and at 13Kg and -125dB I can't see the point of having 2 separate 1x10 cabs. I use mine for quiet practise at home to full on gigs with a very loud drummer. Apart from packing considerations in the car / van, am I missing something here?

6. I reckon it is - Hendrix was a tall bloke and had huge hands.

8. Watch this vid. you get some good shots of Rik Gretch and Clapton so's you can see the chords as well as the bass which is more than I could on the day.
9.
Deal! How about a nice Maplins 1x10 PA cab just 'cos it's cheaper than it's 12" cousin?
And I'll bring my Danelectro bass to put through it as well, if you want?
10. I've been using them since 1996 when I spotted a guy in Germany using them. The beer, like all lagers, is awful; much prefer IPA. However, a more famous user is Keef, Hyde Park 2013 - you can see 'em on the DVD.

12. Goodo! I'll be there, hopefully, - 46th. wedding anniversary the following day (no comments about D-Day, please}
13.
Andy from D'Addario brought some of their winders/clippers down for us to use at the last Herts Bash: http://www.planetwav...Pro_Winder_Bass Wish I knew where they went...
I won one (in the bag of D'Addario goodies) in the raffle!
14. Discreet - you said it - loud drummers. There is the problem in two words. Proper quiet drummer =small rigs=noprobs. Simples, IMHO, of course.........
15. It seems a bit obvious and you've probably done it already but have you contacted the member "Dom in Somerset" as well? Reading through the For Sale thread it seems that Dom is his brother - maybe he can help. Just a suggestion......best of luck.
16. Norfolk, playing with a good, tight blues band on a Friday night all is going great. The hen party arrives - 15, or so drunken wimminz - they buy a round and up they come howlin' for us to play Mustang Sally. To keep the peace and entertain, we do, at a hell of a tempo. They do the backing vocals, dance all around us on stage and I end up with a delightful twenty something standing behind me fretting bottom G whilst I plucked the string with my right hand. At the end of the number they skipped off into the night having pinched my hat, a very special hat which had been given to me in the US as a present. SH*T!!!! During the load out at about 1:30am a Mercedes pulled up behind our wagon and a guy about my age got out wearing my hat. He asked who owned it and gave it to me and apologized for his daughter stealing it. We were even more gobsmacked when he asked us to play his 60th. birthday party. We did and had a great time. Not only were we paid handsomely, but we had a full steak supper at the end of the evening, too. ....but nobody is allowed to touch my gear.
17. Festivals are sh*te anyway up.
18. Cop this you lot........ Ace Kefford with The Move at The Marquee, Wardour St., 1968. That's how to drive a band, IMHO of course. Fender slab 66 P bass, flatwounds, a plectrum and a Marshall half stack.
19.
I don't like any of these songs, but I'm not happy about my musical taste lining up (if only briefly) with someone being such an arsehole about it. This really is lose-lose.
+1 and the author is welcome to use my avatar any time he / she likes, free o' charge.
20. http://news.sky.com/...from-cancer-son http://www.bbc.co.uk/news Sad news. RIP and thanks for the great nights at Friars in the olden days.
21. A very good mate of mine was Duran Durans stage manager for yonks and one of the things he told me was how good they were / are as players. He also told me that one of their games was to understate their abilities deliberately to wind up the session guys. Don't know the truth of that and I can't check because he's gone now. RIP John.
22. The gear I have now. For gigs: Limelight Precision into Elgen 100W head into Barefaced RETRO210. The Elgen is heavy so sometimes I use the TB500 head instead although it's not as good as the Elgen, IMHO, of course. For recording: Ampeg B15N with Limelight and Sansamp VT Bass DI.
23. La Bella Mustang set fitted to my 1967 Mustang bass for the last few years.. Great sound and feel - IMHO, of course. You might have to ease out the E string nut slot a gnats cock with a nail file though.
