I'd be inclined to post a follow up comment to the effect that you kept buyer in the loop and that claim is currently in progress. Send off the forms to Royal Mail and if you get your £36 then send it to him less the cost of postage - he's ripping off Royal Mail after all. If he complains, tough - he should have paid you for special delivery. A lot of ebayers get all flustered about negative feedback. The system's compromised as it is anyway and everyone knows there's ways around it.

I have a pair of Trace Elliot badged 12AX7s taken from my mate's Trace Elliot 4 x 8" V-Type combo. I don't need them and I know there are a few forum members who go a bit funny at the knees at the mention of anything TE-related, so I thought I'd offer them up for free. Might be great, might be microphonic. Anyone interested? I'm around 5 miles from J9 of the M25

3 USA fenders at soundcontrol for £699 each
bassbloke replied to kevbass's topic in General Discussion
They are American Standard series and I believe they are cheap because they have been sitting around in Sound Control since the great flood. -
Using a Hipshot D-tuner on the low B string
bassbloke replied to geilerbass's topic in Repairs and Technical
I swap between standard and Drop A alot and, to be honest, it takes a few seconds to double check your tuning. A hipshot would be fine - it's just dropping the strings down two steps and the tension on the B is much less than on the other strings. -
Well, I just checked and there is indeed a tiny little pause but I've never noticed it before and I actually switch between stomp box mode and patch mode quite often! So I guess that demonstrates that the pause is pretty much insignificant... +1 on pretty much all of that - I use the distortion together with my ODB3 and together they sound awesome; to get some of the stuff to sound great it helps to twiddle a lot but that's a good thing, I suppose - you can get a lot of different sounds out of it... as for using 2 effects together, I guess that's where you have to start buying individual pedals to supplement your multi-effects! Buy the ones you like the best as individual units and use the ME for everything else
Funnily enough, I'm probably going to do just that. I got my Boss ME50B along with a Boss loopstation, so I'm going through something of an epiphany in terms of Boss Effects pedals.
-
I own a ME50B. I used to own a Line 6 and much prefer the BOSS. + Points Plus in and go - default mode is manual, so no playing around with patches It's lovely and compact The compressor/limiter is great The chorus is good and chorus + delay and +reverb effects are very good Battery powered Very, very good tuner Built like a brick sh*thouse - Points The Phaser and Flanger in manual mode are too loud and distort The synths aren't very musical The distortions sound odd and very weedy The way the effects are distributed is a little odd For example - distortion + synth is an obvious pairing, but it can't be done, because both kinds of effects are controlled by the one pedal/control knobs Delay/Phaser + reverb or delay is another obvious pairing, but can't be done for the same reason. As with all multi FX, there are trade-offs, but where the Boss does win is the decent tuner, compressor and modulation effects

I love my Monster cables. Then again, I got them on special when Andertons were flogging them for 50% after buying all of the ex-UK distributor's stock. Granted, they were around £30 each, but I've had them for over 7 years now.

Did Anyone here win this - Reggie Hamilton Bass
bassbloke replied to bassbloke's topic in eBay - Weird and Wonderful
Tough crowd. Some people seem to forget that everyone on ebay has got to start somewhere. Of course, they could simply build up by buying and selling utter tat, but someone would pick up on that too. -
I'm GASing for a P Bass, but I have a few questions. 1 Will it sound the same as my Jazz (MIA) if I dont use the humbuckers? 2 Whats the difference with the P basses (Standard/squire/Mexican/usa/Jap) ? The prices vary quite a lot.
You should pop along to Audere Audio and treat yourself to JZ3D preamp. Your MIA Deluxe Jazz will sound wonderful afterwards. I honestly can't believe how much more amazing my bass sounds.

I was having one of my all too frequent bouts of insomnia last night/this morning and spent a while of the fender youtube channel in the hope that it might send me off to sleep. Fender have brought out a new Amercian Standard range featuring lots of refinements 1) Thinner finish 2) New bridges with heavier steel plate and brass saddles 3) Better hard cases. 4) New Hipshot lookalike lightweight tuners So, I'd expect quite a few stores to start discount the previous generation of Amercian Standard basses at somepoint to make way for the new range. Might be a chance to bag a USA bass for Japanese money.

A Reggie Hamilton Bass went for£296 on ebay this morning. I was this close to trying to snipe it for£300 when I turned at looked at my twokids sitting on the sofa and common sense kicked in. What a bargain though!!!

My friend didn't take this in the end. I'm a 20 minute drive up the A3 from Guildford. Public transporti ismore of a pain - you'll need to change Wimbledon or Clapham Junction and head for Chessington South. PM me and I'll give you the address.

eBay to Ban Negative Feedback by Sellers !!
bassbloke replied to Platypus's topic in eBay - Weird and Wonderful
except Media, Technology and Vehicles categories
I reckon they're really the pinch from the Amazon zshops service and they're going all out to win that business. They'll lose out in the end though. Too many people regard ebay as 'dodgy'. -
Just the thing for the THOR tribute band I'm thinking of starting. You don't happen to know anyone who's a dab hand at making hot water bottles explode using only the power of his lungs do you?

What would you think of a handyman who took a budget drill along to jobs and left his high quality Makita drill on the shelf at home becaue it was too good to use just to put holes in ordinary walls? What would you think of a painter and decorator who owned a set of quality horsehair brushes, but just brought crappy nylon ones that shed bristles along to jobs? My main bass is my pride and joy,but I use it for everything. It's picked up a few knocks along the way, but that just proves it's been played.

Blimey, you can't even give away a heavy duty gig bag anymore!
i'd be happy to take them off your hands if your mate can't take them.....let me know. thanks, karl
It 's a single stand. Do you mean gig bag too? If so, that's up for grabs now.
-
It's free and it's not worth posting. This is temporarily on hold anyway as a friend might take it off my hands on Sunday. I still have a gig bag up for grabs.

Warwick Rockstand with space for 3 instruments. Currently sitting in my loft doing nowt. I don't want to offer it on my local freecycle as people have started using the service to obtain goods to sell on ebay and gumtree. Collection from Chessington, Surrey (KT9)

I have a Ritter SuperPak gig bag in Blue/Black that is surplus to requirements. Someof the stitching has come loose in a couple of places, so the padding is visible. However, the bag is otherwise structurally sound and very well padded. I don't want to offer it on my local freecycle as people have started using the service to obtain goods to sell on ebay and gumtree. Collection from Chessington, Surrey (KT9)

I wanted to expand on my bass heroes thread......
bassbloke replied to Bass_In_Yer_Face's topic in General Discussion
With all due respect to bassbloke, I can't get into it when legends reform but they all seem to be doing it lately, I don't see what the big attraction is. The modern bass players listed in bassblokes post are without a doubt brilliant but what I'd like to see or hear is bass players doing something utterly unique, doesn't have to be technically mind blowing, doesn't have to sound perfect just some truth and personality in their playing.
So you don't think that any of the acts I've listed are in any way unique? I mentioned Tim Commerford more because interviews during his stint in Audioslave were quite unique. Here was someone that was incredibly particular about his tone. I think it's lame when bands reform for the money, but the point I was making is that Sting, Jack Bruce, John Paul Jones, Mike Rutherford, etc... are/were bass heroes for a huge number of people and that they're still playing live, still being interviewed and, therefore, still relevant. -

bassbloke replied to Bass_In_Yer_Face's topic in General Discussion
thispost might come across as a bit rambling... I find it a bit odd you saying there are no bass heroes any more when The Police, Led Zeppelin, Cream, Black Sabbath and Genesis, to name but 4 have all reformed and gigged in the past year. What's more, a couple of huge metal bands, Metallica and Megadeth, have recruited name bassists in Rob Trujillo and James Lomenzo. Modern bands like Muse,Mars Volta and Tool have incredibly prominent bass playing. What about Rush, Squarepusher. Gospel bass? So,here's a list of modern bass heroes Tom Jenkinson Chris Wrostenholme Justin Chancellor Juan Alderete Steve DiGiorgio Tim Commerford
