1. Love the Stu Hamm photo. The vast amount of black above and behind really gives it incredible atmosphere.
2. You're right there. Beautiful bass.
3. Here you go http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=...amp;hl=celinder
4. If I remember correctly, it's Crazykiwi's Celinder that he sold?
5. I used to own a Tribute L-2500. Fantastic basses for the money. Can't recommend them highly enough for those wanting a quality bass on a budget.
6.
Hmm? no idea who this Bernie bloke is but he sounds like a decent chap, does he do finance?
Bernie Goodfellow, he of GB Guitars. Very decent chap. No idea about the finance, but no harm giving him a call.
7.
One thing I would add and keep forgetting to before we go back to the whinging is that I have been 3 years in a row and no one has mentioned Stevie Williams himself? He has consistently played a great opening set of different genres each and every year so I take my hat off to him and feel he is a little over shadowed by the big names. For me he has done a great job every year from a musical point of view,Mad clothes though!
Yeah, I really enjoyed his set this year. Set the day off very nicely. That was a little bit of a "got to pick a pocket or two" type outfit
8.
Pretty much, although it's not possible to take every amp there, plus students were still using a lot of the building, but it could definitely work! I've had several recommendations of EBS and I've seen a cab I quite fancy, but before I commit, I'd really have liked to have a go in a nice environment!
Should've come with me a couple of years ago. Drove down to Brighton and back in a day to Bernie's shop. He arranged for a whole raft of amps and cabs for me to try. I was in there 4 hours. Top bloke, makes a mean brew, and gave my bass a free setup too. I came away a very happy man with two Neo cabs, and also now own the GB Spitfire he played through the rig I bought. Well worth the long trip.
9.
4mins 36 sec ..... technique pino
Bloody brilliant. Pino's always someone to me who adds something to a song, without overwhelming it in any way whatsoever.
10.
I was talkin' about me! teee heee! Ha ha ha!!! Good to meet you ma man! - Nah, but Billy kept on trying to give me his. I said, "Billy! cut it out! - I have the last 30 you mailed to me and my post office still has the jumper you knitted and..."
Dood, didn't meet you....spotted you (not hard though ) Got to say that 7 string bass of yours looks even better in the flesh. Luuuuurverly.
11.
I for one enjoyed my first ever BassDay UK. It was a pleasure to make the aquaintance of "Dood" and "Born to be Mild". It seems there were many others who were there but of course no one knows who anyone else is. I second the suggested meet up in the bar for next time! I enjoyed the clinics and the Fender Bass Manual workshop. It's just interesting to hear all of the stories and experiences of so many great players. I have to admit the cacophony of players slapping themselves silly did get a bit much at times but what an array of fine instruments there were. I hope this gets bigger every year, I was disappointed that no big Hartke stand was there - especially as three endorsees were playing that day. Never mind eh? I got a few photos but posting them here seems to be a bit of a problem Try this link to view them.
From the Mo Foster photos, you were sat directly in front of me a couple of rows further down. I found that particular clinic very interesting. It was nice to have a few different Fenders there and have them demonstrated so that you can clearly hear the differences in tones. Mo came across as a very nice guy (liked his Philips screwdriver joke too!). A mate of mine went back in later on and had a chat with him. Mo even let him play his "Lynott inspired" Precision too.
12. Good God Almighty!!! I cannot believe your hand has not been snapped off at that price. It's half what I paid for mine, and I'd happily pay it again. It's a terrible reason to have to sell, and if I had the cash, I'd buy it off you just to look after it til you could afford to buy it back.
13.
Try Alan Jones? http://www.myspace.com/alanjonesdrummer
Cheers for the recommendation. He's doing it with us.
14. Anyone? Alternatively... any drummers from the North West that don't mind travelling down with us. No need to have own transport, we'll take them.
15. We have a gig at Lille Barracks in Aldershot on Friday 2nd July, but unfortunately our drummer is away on tour in Taiwan. Does anyone know of an experienced functions band drummer in and around the Andover area who would be able to fill in for him? Our website still has our singer as a male lead vocal, but we have a lead female as well so there is a mixture of male and female songs. PM me with any ideas or other questions. Cheers all.
16. Genesis "Turn It On Again" - 13/8 if my memory serves me right
17. Beautiful bass that Lee. What do you mean "before I'm forced to part with it"???
18. Got to admit, as far as Precisions go, that is blooooooody gorgeous!!
19. Street Life - Randy Crawford ft The Crusaders and Piece Of My Heart - Beverley Knight
20. I fell in love with these way, way back. Now the happy owner of a GB Spitfire, but I can't believe nobody's snapped it up at that price. Definitely worth the splash of cash. Good luck with the sale.
21. And welcome from another Northerner.....over here in Middleton. Got a mate who lives over Little Lever way too. You Notlobians get everywhere
22. Bloody hell, that's tragic. Such a sad loss at such a young age. Heartfelt condolences to all his family & friends.
