Drove down to Brighton and back in a day to Bernie's shop. He arranged for a whole raft of amps and cabs for me to try. I was in there 4 hours. Top bloke, makes a mean brew, and gave my bass a free setup too. I came away a very happy man with two Neo cabs, and also now own [b]the[/b] GB Spitfire he played through the rig I bought. Well worth the long trip.

I found that particular clinic very interesting. It was nice to have a few different Fenders there and have them demonstrated so that you can clearly hear the differences in tones. Mo came across as a very nice guy (liked his Philips screwdriver joke too!). A mate of mine went back in later on and had a chat with him. Mo even let him play his "Lynott inspired" Precision too.

Anyone? Alternatively... any drummers from the North West that don't mind travelling down with us. No need to have own transport, we'll take them.

We have a gig at Lille Barracks in Aldershot on Friday 2nd July, but unfortunately our drummer is away on tour in Taiwan. Does anyone know of an experienced functions band drummer in and around the Andover area who would be able to fill in for him? Our website still has our singer as a male lead vocal, but we have a lead female as well so there is a mixture of male and female songs. PM me with any ideas or other questions. Cheers all.

Hi Andy, I can't really give you advice about trading your LM as I've never used them. I have an EBS TD650 with a built in compressor and I used to have the Multicomp pedal before I bought the amp. It's a great pedal. In your position, I'd be after the Multicomp. They generally go for around £80 on here which is a fair price. I bought mine brand new and paid about £120+ for it. By the way, did you get my PM about the Spitfire photo? Cheers, Pete.

Mine are two bass players that are pretty much light years apart. The first, was the guy that highlighted me to the bass itself (or as I liked to call it back then...."the guitar with only 4 strings") was Alan Longmuir of the Bay City Rollers. It was because my big sister had the hots for him. He was of no musical influence whatsoever, just the reason I was aware of the bass. Then when I *really* discovered music for myself, I got heavily into The Jam, and primarily because of Bruce Foxton. I just loved everything about his playing, the power, the passion, and what an awesome sound. I still love listening to him, and playing along with it 30 years later.

I'm pretty sure lee650 bought a new gig bag recently. Maybe it was one of the ones you are looking at. Might be worth popping him a DM to ask.

I saw Hadrien's performances at Bass Day 2007 and 2008. In all honesty, the 2007 performance was very inspiring. I think that was because he came on his own and did his set with a couple of UK musicians, so it was probably an awful lot more "free" playing. In 2008 he had his band, so was an awful lot more rehearsed, and in my opinion took something away from the performance. In both instances though, I was still in awe of him as an incredible bassist. I wish I had half the talent. I also saw Janek, and went to see him in a very small club in Altrincham a couple of days later. It was a great little set, and again, an incredibly talented bassist. Added to that, I had a good chat to both of them after their performances and can honestly say I found nothing about either of them to dislike. Oh, and apart from that, back on topic.....I like the sig model.

I've got the DTR-1000 and it works great. I don't know whether the DTR-2000 offers anything else to warrant more expense for what I need. Second hand circa £80 would seem fair price for me.
