1. Can't say I'm surprised. The Warmoth looked lovely. Natural and black is sooooooooo sexy
 2. Hi Andy, I can't really give you advice about trading your LM as I've never used them. I have an EBS TD650 with a built in compressor and I used to have the Multicomp pedal before I bought the amp. It's a great pedal. In your position, I'd be after the Multicomp. They generally go for around £80 on here which is a fair price. I bought mine brand new and paid about £120+ for it. By the way, did you get my PM about the Spitfire photo? Cheers, Pete.
 3.
Midge Ure: Answers to Nothing. Not all the album is as good as the title track, but a lot of it is, and where else do I get to hear one of my favourite drummers (Mark Brzezicki) jamming with Midge and Mark King?
Good call. Loved that when I was younger. Now downloaded the full album. Cheers
 4. Slave - Just A Touch Of Love Love it......great bass......
 5. Mine are two bass players that are pretty much light years apart. The first, was the guy that highlighted me to the bass itself (or as I liked to call it back then...."the guitar with only 4 strings") was Alan Longmuir of the Bay City Rollers. It was because my big sister had the hots for him. He was of no musical influence whatsoever, just the reason I was aware of the bass. Then when I *really* discovered music for myself, I got heavily into The Jam, and primarily because of Bruce Foxton. I just loved everything about his playing, the power, the passion, and what an awesome sound. I still love listening to him, and playing along with it 30 years later.
 6. I'm pretty sure lee650 bought a new gig bag recently. Maybe it was one of the ones you are looking at. Might be worth popping him a DM to ask.
 7.
I'm not a fan of virtuoso bashing for the sake of it- I'm in awe of the talents of Janek and Hadrien despite me not loving EVERYTHING they do. The fact is that both of them could probably impress a broader range of people with a Fender in their hands- no question they could groove incredibly- and they prob do on many a gig we don't know about.
Like Janek playing for Delta Goodrum on the David Letterman Show...... 8. I saw Hadrien's performances at Bass Day 2007 and 2008. In all honesty, the 2007 performance was very inspiring. I think that was because he came on his own and did his set with a couple of UK musicians, so it was probably an awful lot more "free" playing. In 2008 he had his band, so was an awful lot more rehearsed, and in my opinion took something away from the performance. In both instances though, I was still in awe of him as an incredible bassist. I wish I had half the talent. I also saw Janek, and went to see him in a very small club in Altrincham a couple of days later. It was a great little set, and again, an incredibly talented bassist. Added to that, I had a good chat to both of them after their performances and can honestly say I found nothing about either of them to dislike. Oh, and apart from that, back on topic.....I like the sig model.
 9. I've got the DTR-1000 and it works great. I don't know whether the DTR-2000 offers anything else to warrant more expense for what I need. Second hand circa £80 would seem fair price for me.
 10. I've got a couple of months free from my functions band, so I am available for dep work (until April 2010). Preferably functions/covers work. I've played bass for 30 years and have been gigging regular since I was 18 (approx 25 years). Professional attitude, quality equipment. I also do backing vocals. If you're interested, DM me or give me a call on 07980 620218. Cheers, Pete.
 11.
Will something basic like this work for stripping coaxial guitar leads?
I've got one of these and it does a great job. It'll strip the outer sleeve first, then do each individual sleeve one by one.
 12.
"Also met up with the usual couple.....Stuart (bassbunny) & Keith( yorks5stringer). Keith left me his wristband in case he won anything in the raffle. He missed out on the bass they were giving away by just 3 numbers!!" Hey Pete, that's funny, you told me the same story ( except I was 1 number off) last year!!!! Anyway, enjoy the new Bass (again)!
In all seriousness, you were just 3 numbers out. I was at the bar with Nigel Clutterbuck and each ticket being drawn was getting closer and closer to your number (my number was miles out). Then for the bass, I think yours ended something like 115 and 112 came out. It got a big "oooooooooh" from us bar-proppers. Did you get back to the station OK?
 13.
I was there, Had an amazing time, and spent most of it on the GB stall being extremely blown away, bernie and the lads were really friendly and are HUGELY passionate about their basses quite right too, im in love with the rumour 5 and am saving my pennies from now i will have one, also had a lovely chat with our very own funkydario, on the Bacchus stand, lovley guy, we had a laugh when a young lady asked my mate to turn down and he was the quietest player in the room by far im also very enamoured by Yolanda charles who is an incredible groovemeister and a bit gorgeous too , ive probably walked past a dozen basschatters, we should have worn T shirts!!! was keeping an eye out for Ped but didnt see him, had a good chat with Pete (thunderthumbs) though. All in all a hugely enjoyable day, i had to leave early though so missed Nathan east, but i,ll bet he was amazing, hope you all had good one and im currently trying to raise funds to have a 5 string rumour made- cheers everyone - lee
Go on lad......you know you want one I was just happy to be able to stand in front of Bernie's basses and not drool through not having one (Cheers psychoandy, I'm still like a kid on Xmas Day) I don't know how anyone had the balls to tell your mate to turn down......he's a bloody big fella!! Saw Ped walk past late on as I was stood with mistahbenn. Also met up with the usual couple.....Stuart (bassbunny) & Keith( yorks5stringer). Keith left me his wristband in case he won anything in the raffle. He missed out on the bass they were giving away by just 3 numbers!! I also met some old mates I've not seen for a couple of years and spent the remainder of the time after Nathan East propping up the bar with them. I was stood there as the flying strings knocked MB1's pint all over sshorepunk. Had a good chat with Poogie & his bass player, Brian, before they left. On my way out in an hour to go see them again at the Band On The Wall. Woohoo!!
 14. Hey Mark, Only just seen this thread. Really nice to see you're happy with the 76 (as well as a few other people by the looks of it). That 62's lovely. How does it sound with flats on? Is it Jamersonesque?
 15.
I have always found 45 - 105 gauge suits me better tonally.
Same with me. Used to play 30s years ago, but I just can't get on with them now. After various gauges I've settled on 45/65/85/105 as my preferred set.
 16.
Yo Pete, Yeah was thinking about it. Any way of getting in free? I did do last year... How are you?
Yeah, they sound good those tracks. That the Smith? Sounds sweet. Suits the tracks perfectly. How did you blag Bassday for freebies? Saying that, if I don't pay, I suppose we get some busker off Market Street next year instead of the quality they're getting in for clinics I'm sound mate, apart from the gigs being a little dried up this time of year. Wedding silly season is over, and busy in December, but not too much inbetween. Just got myself psychoandy's GB Spitfire so I'm aching to go out gigging with it. Friday/Saturday next week. Saturday's only in a pub in Chorlton (Lloyds) if you're not busy. If not, see you Nov 22nd prob. Cheers, Pete.
 17. Can't listen at the mo Benn, but will do later. You off to Bassday again this year?
 18.
It looks staged, but I swear it isn't - here's the full set. Just luck and manual focus!
Did you take them yourself? If so, well done....some really great shots there.
 19.
You've done enough wheeling and dealing for this week Pete. Have a break.
Hey, I'll tell you...I don't know how Duncan Bannatyne and the other dragons do it....a couple of days and it's worn me out! Well worth it though
 20.
Thanks! It needs to be played... How you finding your new GB purchase?!
Loving it. Just can't wait to gig it now. My search for bass heaven is over, and I'll stop earning my "bass miles".
 21. Oooh, that's lovely. The perfect DJ colour combination too IMO. Good luck with the sale.
 22.
I never saw ur 76 P advertised? did I miss it? I'm loving my new avatar, but I bet shes even more high maintenance! but probably worth an hour on the meter!
I never even got round to advertising it. Just after I'd advertised my G&L, I uploaded the photos of my P to photobucket, then spotted Mark's topic in the "Items Wanted" for Precisions. One of them was a 70s P in black with a maple neck. That was exactly what mine was. So we agreed a fee and the deal was done, just like that. And your avatar...I would mind 'maintaining' her . Don't think the wife would encourage it though .
 23.
The money will be spent wisely In New York I assure you! Can you guess where tho!
Ohhhh yes. Have a nice time, and enjoy the spending
 24.
Blimey Pete, you delivered my P bass this morning, and also the Warwick Thumb, and then picked this up? You must have racked up some miles today!
Yep. A 650 mile round trip! I was OK while I was driving. Now I've got home, I've realised I'm knackered!!! That's the equivalent of driving from ours to Newquay and back again in a day.....which I'd never do! The things I do for the love of the bass
 25.
'Twas a pleasure to meet u sir! Enjoy! Note my GB avatar has gone, only to be replaced by something thats equally easy on the eye!
You too. Shame I couldn't take up the offer of the brew from the other day. Your avatar.......you're not wrong there Take care.
