1. Where would I find these and what exactly are they called? Thanks
2. Second dibs if they aint please!
3. Andy at Wizard quoted £40 for rewinding a thumper that I stuck a screwdriver into. (I know..)
4. Hi Tony, I`m interested in this for my drummers in ears/pod playback setup, could you give me a model number so I can try and find the power supply and manual? I could pick up also. Ta MM
5. Hello all. I`ve been using Thumpers on my P bass for a few months now and was extremely happy with them in conjunction with roundwound strings, but I then changed to Flatwound Chromes and though I love the sound, it`s not quite suitable for what I need in my function band. So.. given that I really don`t want to lose the Flats after just getting used to them, I`d like to try some Wizard Trads instead. So I`m looking to trade my Thumpers for your Trads! Ta MM
6. We just had this last night. Usually it`s not a problem, the guitard doesn`t mind transposing. Last night was Roxanne by the Police, which is in G,and it soon became obvious our singer couldn`t reach it and we settled upon E. Guitard was deeply upset after spending a week getting those chords to "sit just right". He played the opening chords in G, sounded great. Tried the same shape in E and it sounded like London Calling : ) However, sounding like London Calling is far preferable to sounding like a Bee Gee on acid.
7. Hi, yes I traded for a PF with Skezz. You could ask him if he`s considering selling on. MM
8. Hi Gaff, the power on the amp is switchable between main and mons so I`d normally run both 8ohms off the main output,(although there are two output sockets per power section this is not a stereo amp,) and that leaves you the same power to use on monitors. Alternatively, us all the power on your mains, and send the mon out to some powered wedges. Both outputs have a graphic eq. Best to take your time and get what`s right for you.
9. Am picturing a Del boy moment where he unscrews the big bolt holding that lot to the ceiling...
10. Don`t you need to remove unfortunate rodents etc from those spikes after a night out? Having said that, you could stick a setlist on one and just glance down to view. Do they do em in 8s?
11. An ex bank/cum hotel opposite Liverpool town hall Sat night. Blimey what those women wear... Anyway.. Found it, was told to park up at back and load through the tortuously small kitchen and into the front. Took one look and thought sod that we`re going in the front, which was ten metres from the actual "stage". No prob, just wait for the bored sticky smokers to dissipate while the best man did his drone and we were in like Flynn. Strange stage area,4 feet up to one side of the room with a waist high glass wall in front of us..Obviously extra eating space. No prob setting up, though the P.A was about 2 metres in front of us on the left and 3 metres away from us on the right, so I had to crank the wedges a bit and spend an extra 20 min making sure the FOH sound was going to sit well through the night. Difficult to predict as the place had Doric columns, marble floor and a high domed roof. Quick [s]argument [/s] discussion with Singer about whether lighting our ankles might be less effective than actually lighting our bodies, and once the lights were positioned to everyones satisfaction,"ooh no, that`s in my eyes, can`t see me lyric book "etc we went for a coffee and a good lech at the local badly dressed types. Not much to say about the actual gig, as we were a little removed from the action on our glassed in podium, and had no idea what the FOH sounded like with bodies in front of it, so it was all about monitors and relaying comments to the drummer about how many were dancing etc.(He couldn`t see a thing). Two large fans are now an essential part of our gig kit, and kept us relatively cool throughout. Tried my Fender Bassman 250 for the last time and although it`s very loud and has a few nice tones, decided to return to the bosom of Ampeg, despite the increase in size and weight.
12. I have a Yamaha Emx640 for sale@£150 http://usa.yamaha.com/products/live_sound/mixers/powered-mixers/emx_box_type/emx640/?mode=model Quite useful and portable. MM

18.
How hot are they? My Warlock has two sets of P-Bass pick-ups in it but I'm a bit disappointed with the bridge set, they just seem weak, with no balls. I've also been looking at the Seymour Duncan SPB-2. I'm a bit disappointed with the pre-amp too, I can get a nice sound out of it, but isn't very versatile. Turning either the Bass or the Treble knobs up even a little bit with either make it instantly muddy or bright enough to hurt your teeth, there doesn't seem to be any middle ground, except keeping them both off. Playing it with a pick and the treble up a bit makes it sound like you're hitting it with a spanner, no matter how softly you play. This is what happens when you buy a Bass based on aesthetics folks! Though, having said that, it plays like a dream, very fast and smooth.
Pretty damn hot I`d say. Louder than the Nordstrands in my Jazz and a much warmer tone than my 82 MIJ hohner Ps that I stuck in for sat gig. I noticed immediately that with the Thumpers I could open the tone right up and get a great balance of attack and thump, but with the Hohners an open tone pot was like biting on tinfoil.
19. £250 per perp. minimum.
20. Oh No! Are my strings right is my tone cutting through the mix can I carry this amp upstairs every gig do I need a strap should I sing backing where do I stand what plectrums do I need,do I need plectrums at all, what about pedals and a tuner I thought this was in Eminor? Aaaaaaaaarghhh. Congratulations, you are going to really enjoy it! MM
21.
I'm considering adding the Thumpers to my old Cort to use for a P-bass sound, It plays well but the sound isn't what i'd like. What do you think?
Hi Phil,I say go for it, they are great sounding pickups, but... I like a dark tone, with less highs and sizzle,so theses pickups and flats are really working for me. So much so that I`m putting them in a second bass. If you need that modern top end on your sound, maybe they aren`t for you.
