1. I think you'd be paying 22.7% of the total cost (ie. price plus shipping) as it should be 2.7% duty and 20% VAT. http://www.dutycalculator.com/hs-lookup/137477/hs-tariff-code-for-electronics/
2. I have both but generally use the MS60B (very small stage footprint and fits nicely alongside a wireless receiver with a cranked jack connector). I have the four effects I most often use in one patch - in any one song I'll only switch one of them, though I may have more than one on, so I just use the left and right buttons to go to the effect I'll be switching.

4. Most enjoyable, nice to meet up with lots more BCers that I've not met before and with one face from the past that I haven't seen for 15 years or more.
5. With a bit of judicious use of spacers, he could make that into a 5-string guitar for people with big hands.
6. The dearer one also doesn't have a broken original pot. Or maybe it does and he hasn't mentioned it. Having had as close a look as I can to the grain pattern, they do seem to be two different basses. Presumably he really liked natural Ps from 1978.
7. She'd probably notice when the house starts to tilt.
8. PS. A google for "guitar stand playing position" gets you quite a few stands like you want. "walk-up stand" seems to be the term most generally used.
9. I can't stand up for more than about 30 minutes without severe pain in my back (soft tissue damage from a bad motorcycle accident in 2001) so I have a stool on stage and when I need to sit down, I do. Should I ever play at a corporate event, that's what I'd do too. If you can't go down the stool route (have you discussed it with the rest of the band?) then I recommend getting yourself a wheelchair and being pushed on stage, then you can play sitting down all evening and no-one would dare sack you.
10. The neck on the Zephyr, if the 4-string models are directly comparable to the 5s, would be a bit chunkier than the neck on the Grind. That's why I sold my Zephyr 5 - great instrument which oozed quality but the neck just wasn't for me.
11. Actually, no, I didn't. I like the look of it, it's got a lovely neck, and the sound is good, if not earth-shattering. I may put in new pickups and preamp at some point but it doesn't actually need them. The Peavey Grind is another nice looker - IMNSHO the natural is the better look, though, and that's £329 for a 4-string, while the black version slides in at £299.
12.
Probably for the best.
They must have borrowed Ford's ugly stick for that one.
13.
I think it's the standard basschat member progression. We start off talking on topic and being reasonable. We proceed to going way off topic even from post two in a thread and lose all claim to reasonbleness. Then we get to stage three where we still go immediately way off topic and have no claim to reasonableness, but believe that we are staying on topic and being reasonable.
Having spent many years in newsgroups before the interwebs arrived, I can only say that a thread that fails to go off-topic in the first post is far too unadventurous.
14.
I dont get the Fender bashing on here. I thought we are above all that. If more people use them it stands to reason they get mentioned more. Seeing as the first post has been changed (same time the dummy was throuwn out by the looks of it) i have no idea what this thread is about, but it seems to involve a few digs at Fender.
It's not so much Fender themselves but the boring predictability of the "I have rediscovered the P bass and it's the only thing I'll ever need and I don't see why anyone else could possibly want anything else" posts. It's comparable to Harley riders. At least Harley persisted with the V-Rod. Fender have never persisted with their brief bursts into innovation.
15. Tony Tsai seems to have stopped making this model but it cost me under £300 delivered ($460 +VAT when the $ was at a low):

New Zoom B3

There's also a mod you can do so you can add a couple of footswitches to do patch changes. I keep meaning to get round to doing it myself. Details: http://ashbass.com/AshBassGuitar/Zoom/index.html?patchselectmod.html
17.
Me thinks the time has come that if you want a Fender and want to be sure it IS a Fender; buy a new one. It's sad but if you want a second-hand Fender, buy one with "Squier" on the headstock. The rest should all be treated as fake. All the folks out there faking them have IMHO got us to a situation now, where any second-hand Fender needs to be treated with suspicion. It's a sad situation.
You mean people have got to buy instruments on their own merit rather than just going by what's on the headstock? How tragic.
18.
I don't get the reserve thing either. It would make sense if someone bid high enough so that their bid went automatically past the reserve (i.e. if the reserve was £100 and you bid more than that it would automatically bid you up to £100) but it doesn't seem to work like that. There have been several times when I've finished as the highest bidder with my maximum bid much higher than the final price but the item still hasn't made the reserve.
Then you didn't bid enough to get over the reserve. It works exactly like that. http://pages.ebay.co.uk/help/buy/reserve-price.html "If your maximum bid is the first to meet or exceed the reserve price, the effective bid displayed will automatically be raised to the reserve price."
19.
I've only been playing for a couple of years now and already I'm sick of GAS! I've just bought a beautiful stingray 4hh with an ash body. Got it for a great price and it sounds f***ing awesome! Yet already I find myself looking at what bass I might get next.
Be prepared to be told it should be a P.
20. Don't feel limited to using the B string for notes below bottom E. Use it further up the neck to change the tone and reduce the amount of charging up and down the fretboard you do.
21. Latest news - rang them up today and was told that the order had gone in but no-one had contacted me for payment, and that someone would be in touch to get payment from me. So it looks like I'm back to paying for it. Not that anyone's got in touch yet. A month and a half to get absolutely nowhere. I don't think I'll be buying Line6 again and I'd advise anyone else to steer clear of them.
22.
Now I'm not a technician, but IME deep lows mean cab volume, and cab volume means cab weight.
I've just bought a pair of GK Neo 112 mk2s from castlemaine of this parish, and they are astonishingly light (lighter than my now-redundant TC RS112) at about 14kg/30lbs, and each is about half the volume of a typical 4x10. Good lows, adjustable tweeter. However they are a little on the large side to lug around on a bus.
23. Ten days is now the default auction length.
24. Given that response, I think I may look at running the B3 and MS-60B in series... I emailed Zoom in Japan about this some time ago and they said then that there were no plans, though they didn't mention a technical limit. Can't see why they can't put the B3 up to four effects though, it's the same processor as the MS-60B which does do 4.
25.
My G50 transmitter got pulled off my strap at a recent gig and hit the floor, and the battery door broke into its component parts. I'm waiting for Line6 UK to come back to me on the availability of a replacement (I know you can get them but the only websites with them are in the US and don't ship internationally). Although the door is metal, the latch and slidey bit is plastic, and two tiny screws hold the inner bit to the outer bit and break the plastic bosses that they screw into.
Eventually managed to get a response from Line6 after I rang them again - my emails to them had gone into a spam folder. They finally took the order over the phone, then were going to get Kay from accounts to get my details for payment. I chased them up again the next week and they said they'd send it out to me FOC due to all the delays. That was a week ago and it has yet to surface.
