  1. It's absolutely superb. I'm astonished that so many people on here have cloth ears. Maybe it's because you're all really old.
  2. That's a brilliant cover.
  3. If you want a natural finish bass, it saves a lot of work. Whoever did the scratch plate needs to go to Specsavers though.
  4. It gets a bit complicated with "All the young dudes" because David Bowie wrote it, Mott the Hoople had a hit with it, Bruce Dickinson got into the top 30 with his cover which was very close to the original, and Bowie recorded it after Mott did but his version is inferior (not vastly though) to the other two.
  5. Alexandra Burke's awful, awful version of "Hallelujah" which completely ripped the soul out of it. Simon Cowell is partly to blame for this utter travesty. In a similar vein to William Shatner but nowhere near as entertaining, there's Telly Savalas's version of "If" where apparently loads of reverb was deemed sufficient to conceal a complete inability to sing. "Don't sing, Theo" as someone said in the spoof version of it.
  6. Or get an Android tablet.
  7. CQ-20B, competing with the XR18, is £780. £220 more than the XR18. That's quite a price differential.
  8. It also doesn't have a Strat neck pickup at an angle and Jazz bridge pickup.
  9. "Like a telecaster bass but in a 34” long scale length.". Um, doesn't the Telecaster bass have a 34" scale length?
  10. How you count the days going by when you're locked up with just a bass and a nail.
  11. I went to see Peter Frampton when he was touring that, and it was performed perfectly well. Simple Minds - I really like Live in the City of Light (there's a violin overdubbed plus some bass put on by Derek Forbes to either replace or enhance John Giblin's bass). I also like Yessongs.
  12. "With a little help from my friends" - why did the Beatles ruin it?
  13. I may be wrong, the pop-up might be being translated immediately.
  14. I have no enthusiasm for anything TE, everything is mind-bogglingly heavy, and nothing is that impressive sounding.
  15. Well, I was thinking of bringing my Dean 10-string, if you can cope with a doubled-up 5-string. You're not legally obliged to play the B string(s).
  16. I get the message in English, but very briefly, then it disappears. It took me a while before I could work out what it said (I blame midweek alcohol).
  17. I think it can get more complex than that - see Sutcliffe vs Pressdram.
  18. But what if they play the Tickled Trout and do me out of a possible date?
  19. Download Audacity (cross platform). Use File | Import | Audio to import the MP3. On the left-hand side you will see something like If that says 48000Hz then that's your problem and it's easily rectified. Go to Edit | Preferences and under Audio Settings you will see Project Sample Rate and Default Sample Rate. Change both of those to 44100Hz from the dropdowns and click OK. Now use File | Export | Export as MP3 and when the export dialogue comes up to select a file to save to, name the file something different to the original file and change the bit rate in Quality to 320kbps.
  20. There were only 73 90 made so they are quite rare. At least two of us on BC have one - mine is still awaiting my diagnosis on what causes its terrible hum.
  21. Well, the Ebay autoharp tuner was for 4mm pegs and it seems that the truss rod is 3/16" so £20 invested in @Hellzero's suggestion which will make its way by tramp steamer to our shores in two or three weeks. Just about to refresh the pickup mountings and put new strings on - Warwick Red Labels are nickel coated and come in the right gauges for me (20-40-60-80-100-130) and have the added advantage of being inexpensive.
  22. I was going to say that whoever made it wasn't trying. And you can get a Yin and Yang Fauxdera for £230.
  23. Three and a half hours before they went. That was quick.
  24. The PDF referred to has moved to https://maxsolomusic.com/files/79-patch-cables-compared-and-tested.pdf
