Glad you could get one, all the sensibly priced tickets for Nottm immediately 'sold out', quickly followed by the daft priced ones. Of course they didn't really sell out, ticketmaster just offloaded them to sister company 'get me in' so they could then relist the cheapest original tickets at twice the actual price. Needless to say, I'm not going to support such a corrupt system. There's apparently a pair of very good seats available via get me in for £708 per ticket Shame as Jeff's one of those heroes that I've never got to see perform live. Oh well...
2. I've had similar when I noticed a couple of the white end caps from the EQ sliders on my TE combo had come off someone just posted me a couple for no charge. I've had odd cheap bits put in with larger orders to axes r us that weren't charged as well in the distant past.
3. I think he'd been ill for a while but sad news just the same, remember listening to the Golden Years EP in my younger days. Saw him play with them in the mid 80's. Stupidly loud. RIP Phil.

Just trying to get tickets now for shows next April but as usual it looks like its fiddled and most of the low and mid price seats have been creamed off in advance so they can sell them at extortionate prices on other sites.
5. I use the inbuilt compressor on my TE 715 combo in combination with other features on it and my Bassattack pedal. Tried it with or without compression and decided it sounded better with so it stays on for gigs (for those with a similar combo I have the knob at about 1 or 2 o'clock posiiton, whatever that value is).
6. I would expect some mention of it on either tonight's (or certainly Friday's) Later programme as he'd been on a few times.
7. Keep the hard cases, take any internal shelves and clothes rail out of an old sturdy wardrobe and store the cases upright inside if you don't like the idea of the cases lying around for all to see. I'm lucky, have a guest bedroom and a decent sized cupboard under the stairs.
8. Bit average tbh. Combination of 'all the gear and no idea' from some band members plus the other three apparently taking it it in turns to make some gaff or other just put more pressure on me to hold it all together. Me fighting the affects of a mild gut bug didn't add to it. No severe damage and I believe the pub (which is a new one for us) are looking to rebook us. It was thankfully not that busy as folks were out at bonfire parties so hopefully more of an audience if we make a return.
9. The temp fill in between Blackmore & Morse could play a bit too
10. Putting pressure on the guy before he's got on stage
11. Band on the run's a cracking tune.
12.
It passed most people by in the UK, it did very well in Europe though.
It's the one with Dougie White on vox. Not bad but a bit 'generic' I thought.
13. There was a rumour he might do Download next year but seen no confirmation anywhere. If it was a festival gig and i liked the look of most of the other bands I might consider it. Maybe selling out Brum might encourage him to look at other options?
14. Morrison probably fits the bill though he was showing signs of wanting out of the lifestyle some time before his death. Modern era - Amy Winehouse?
15. I've only done that once and thankfully it was in rehearsal. I'd only recently got my Behringer tuner and for some reason I'd managed to switch it from normal tuning to flat. I needed a song in drop D but because the tuner was now in flat tuning I inadvertently tuned my E to C# instead of D but of course the other 3 were fine so it confused me for a few minutes. I haven't even checked if current band's tuners all use same reference but I'm guessing they must do as I have a reasonable ear and we all sound in tune together at the lower volumes of rehearsal rooms so i think we're fine.
16. I'd still give it a go Les. It can be a bit stressful at first but I'm sure I gained a lot of onstage confidence from my stints in a house band. You may find that some folks come back week after week and do the same thing in which case you can go away and learn the bassline for their little 'party piece' (may not be in original key!) more thoroughly and give them as good a backing as you can.
17.
It doesn't matter how good your ears are. I defy anyone to be able to tune their bass and also ensure that they are in tune with the rest of the band while the PA is blasting out the in-between bands music. That's what electronic tuners are for.
Beat me to it. Nothing worse than 2 guitars and a bass all trying to audibly tune up on stage anyway, whether by ear or not. Trust your tuner and do it in silence. If you are unsure a really short note from each string to check it's in tune after you've done it. Endless 'bending note' noises from the stage prior to the performance just looks a bit amateurish to me.
18. A mate of mine sent me the link to this a few days ago but it's fifty odd quid minimum after extras, the parking at the venue has become a rip off and there's not a single confirmed member of the band other than a vocalist who RB tells us we won't have heard of anyway. It's not jumping out at me as a 'must see' gig. The last time I saw him play with DP he was a complete tw@t all night. Same venue come to think of it...
19.
Guess I'm the only one that thinks those clip on tuners just look wrong! Tuner built in to my FX board, tuner app on my phone, and same app on my tablet.
No you're not, think they look hideous. I seem to have four but I know that at least 2 of them were left behind by other people at open mic sessions when I was in the house band and they never came to pick them up,not even sure what manufacturer they are but they work. I have my Behringer tuner pedal for live gigs but because it's Behringer of course it will spontaneously fall apart if I actually look at it hence there is a cheap Korg backup in my bass guitar case. I don't take the Behringer to rehearsals and just do a quick tune up with the hand held Korg from the case.
20. OK, not a massive fan. Probably against the norm here but I've preferred some of their more recent stuff over the earlier albums. I think it has shown a maturity through the developing years. Everyone raved about the first album but it wasn't really my thing. Never liked Nirvana.
21. I can see a bit of potential overlap. I'm guessing each band is hoping that a few undecided fans might be pushed into a ticket by the prospect of seeing the other one also on the same bill for not a lot more money.
22. Not got a ticket yet but might go see Uncle Acid & the Deadbeats later this month.
23. Back in the old days people might be more likely to take a gamble with an unknown support. Bands now have so much more exposure via the internet that it is easier for people to get an idea what they are like in advance and if it's not to their taste may decide not to bother turning up until later?
24. There is also a change in how some venues use their space. Now some of them want 2 different sets of people paying to go in the same venue same night in 2 sessions - live act on, get them out then get new set in for a club night. Result - bands all on early which means support on stupidly early playing to no one because punters can barely make it in time from work to make the main act let alone anyone else.
25. Pub covers band a few weeks ago, called V8. Although a fair amount of the material was a bit on the heavy side for me the playing was excellent, bass player even did a bit of tapping during an extended ending of last song of set 1. Don't know if he's a member here but he was very good in his role. Last 'name' band was probably Spock's Beard at the end of Sep. I've missed some bands I've really wanted to see as they clashed with my own band's gigs.
