I like the way you've set up that bottle to vibrate its way over to the edge and then topple in such a way it will pour itself into the glass waiting. Genius.
Yes, I am fattest. Probably.
If you lived nearer I'd challenge you to a gut-off. I'd probably win at the moment.

Post your pictures, Lets see what you all look like.
More a fetching lilac.
It was the Trace gear with 'eyebrows' EQ that did it for me, top marks sir (though I assume for that sort of gig it was provided?) -
It's about time they had some Prog act on it. The genre has seen a real resurgence over the last 10-15 years but it's never really been represented on the show. Spock's Beard will be touring whilst the current series is running, it would be refreshing to see them get a slot. But we'll get some pretty female rapper. Again. Probably.
Well, you know how it is in modern Britain in the entertainment industry! It's all about appearance and image! As usual my post was not entirely serious. Maybe I should use more smilies...
Nah, they were just playing at it... Once after a jam session another bass player (who'd supplied the backline) said I was one of the most 'natural' players he'd seen and asked if I gave lessons. I just assumed he was on drugs and politely thanked him and told him I'd never had a lesson never mind give any!
I think that you may have a point there BUT the UK's licensing laws and British drinking habits mean that not many landlords would want to have a band playing for 3 or 4 hours. They certainly would not want to pay extra! Also, a landlord is only interested in whether a band can pull in punters and assist him to sell beer! He doesn't care how many people are in the band and will understandably pay the same for a three piece as he will for an equally popular seven piece band...
I'm not even sure how much a lot of the audience would want a band to be on for that time over here either, slightly different culture. I usually associate these long sessions with tourist places where you have people just drifting in and out rather than a captive audience. Pubs do have an element of 'floating' visitors but it's not the bulk of punters in recognised British music pubs.

Unfortunately Bilston on a working night is just that bit too far with my workload. It's a shame as they have loads of acts I'd go and see. If I lived nearer Brum I think I'd practically live at the Robin2
-
Agree about setting a limit, though that limit is going to change from band to band and area to area. I was looking into getting a booking at a pub near me that I thought would suit the new band I joined earlier this year. Spoke to a mate at the weekend who's played there a few times and apparently they have a flat rate of £150 irrespective of who you are. No wonder they get a lot of trio acts there. The other 3 members would be driving around 45-50 min each way to do it, I'm not going to bother pursuing it.
Vintage Trouble are touring soon. I wonder If they'll be on. Somehow I doubt it.
Well he's had them on before so you never know, it was the first time I saw them.

Couldn't listen to the audio but just had a quick look on iPlayer - who's the blonde woman playing bass with Squeeze? Edit - diggng around it appears to be Lucy Shaw, played with Katie Melua among others.
-
Didn't realise it was back on will set the recorder for the proper programme tonight. I see Squeeze are on, quite like some of their new material.
-
Glad it went well, if it had been on a Saturday I'd have been sorely tempted to come down. I might make your Derby Flowerpot show in Oct if not gigging. If you haven't played the Flowerpot before be warned it isn't a big stage, reasonably deep but very narrow!
-
Well, yeah there's that too... as it happens I've bumped into same player a few times at jam sessions and he's a lovely bloke. Looks like a heavy rock version of Leland Sklar, plays blues on a 7 string bass
-
Yes, absolutely. I remember a well respected bass player on our local circuit came up to me at the interval between 2 sets and said 'I liked the way you commanded your part of the stage' which I took to read ' Your playing might be a bit sh*te but you look the part'
Driver size has no bearing on frequency.
Since Trace has been specifically mentioned I'll repeat what I've said in other threads, it has always surprised me what a wide range of frequencies I can cover with the Trace 15" speaker in my combo. It doesn't miraculously become significantly 'brighter' when I plug in the 2x10 SWR ext cab though it does marginally improve the overrall tone otherwise I wouldn't lug it around. As for the OP I'd be nudging the singer toward some decent IEM's.
-
Stuff like the Valhalla always look to me just like a marketing ploy to get people talking (and we fall for it every time) in the hope of getting people to buy other, possibly more sensibly priced, stuff from them. The Epi stuff mentioned by the OP is probably another strategy. Get them made at a sensible cost but then overprice them enough so a few more money than sense weekend warrior stock exchange worker type musos will buy the odd one and they instantly make enough profit that they only need have a handful made every year. Mugs.

Conspiracy theories - don't you just love this stuff?

Eventually someone's going to find an item that has Macca's hair on it from the supposedly 'pre death' era and a DNA profile of that compared to the current Macca will show them to be the same and all this nonsense will be put to bed for ever. Except all the nutters will start theories on how samples were switched, results fixed etc. You just can't stop some of these people, it's some sort of personality disorder I think. -
Some places cheekily use MAKEPROFIT as the basis of their 10 position code. So in that case Matt P's £40:50 item would be ETPT or they sometimes use upper and lower cases to differentiate which are before and after decimal point, ie ETpt
There's also Mike Badger, co-founder and former guitarist of The La's, who is coincidentally a friend of mine
Not to mention Pat Badger from Extreme, who I've never met in my life. He plays bass though so shouldn't go unnoticed.
Wow that was a blast from the past. I had just started playing and was taken there on the first of many visits to JSG in Bingley. You walked down like an indoor alleyway ( PA's etc at the top ?? ) in to a large room full of guitars, basses, amps cabs etc. It was like walking through the gates of heaven for a teenager after two long bus rides. Bought my first amp ( Fal 50) and went back many times for many subsequent purchases.
Yes that was the very place, thanks to all for filling in some mental blanks for me - JSG rings a bell so I'm sure that would have been the name when I went. We may have been a couple of times but it washed over me a bit not being a player. I recall lots of gear though, sad to hear it went the way of most of those sorts of places.
Earth Pig - Sort of name you'd expect a band using a badger encased theremin would call themselves.
Anorak on/ In Afrikaans 'Earth Pig' is Aardvark, there have been bands named both 'Aardvark' and 'Badger' in the past. Don't think either were known for theramins, Anorak off/

It's having a close shave with stardom now though.

Must have made its eyes water when they inserted the loop.

Excellent result, I didn't enter the competition as I have a US J (2003) and P(2001) and both are very solid good quality instruments. Of the 2 I think I still prefer the jazz as a player but the P gives me a sound that's better for the songs I'm doing so that's the gigging bass at present. Hope your jazz gives you years of good service.
