2.
The fact Im on half term holiday, means I've been here a lot over the past few days. In my curmudgeonly old way, its got me thinking about lots of Bass related topics/stories. For me, one that keeps coming back to me is one, that even with hindsight/time still irritates me, when I mentally recount it. Its about being "slagged off" by another musician. that I can cope with (really, I can,Honestly, we all get that from time to time!!) but.....Well..let me share... I was playing at WMC somewhere (bad start I suppose!) and the drummer had invited an aquaintance (Bassplayer) down to watch. he sat and chatted with said drummer through our break and spent the whole time slagging of my "tone" & kit (according to the drummer) and how his was so "much better" Now "tone" is fairly subjective anyway. but what really piss#s me off, is the fact that having been told of this guys fairly vitrolic tirade, (and his "tone" & kit & much superior knowledge to mine) he was quite "put out"/offended that when meeting him, at the bar I completley blanked him!! ( not rude, you understand, just blanked, you know; Him: "allright mate?" Me:(reponse) nada, nowt, nothing. BTW) like I should be greatful for his "advice" ! two faced old womans "bits" say it to my face and dont EVER call me mate!! was the thing. is it just me?...probably is, it was years ago but still makes me cross to this day that this guy didnt get why ANYONE could ignore him depite his own dualfaced rudeness. the very zenith of arrogance! Rant over, but KWIM? (feeling better now!)....let it go....and.....relax..... W
OMG...it was you!!!!! I didnt actually say your sound was sh*te, to be fair!
3. We can discuss small/large logos all we like, but the OP states his bass has a CN serial number. This denotes non Japan origin around Nineties era. No JV or any valeable early squier would have this serial. Can the OP post a pic of both the front of the stock and where the CN serial is. Any other pics of the overall bass would be handy.
4.
thanks guys think the number is CN something?
Oh...thats not good then. Sounds more like a Chinese late 90s Squier with a decalmorphosis!!!!!
5. The RWs dont have string through bridges, the US Stds do.
6. Rachel Your choice of gear is fine IMO. The GK stuff is bombproof, there are some 700 owners here I think. As for the cab, I think Peavey make the best built and sounding budget cabs of all. The 4 x 10 cabs are robust and give great sound if your in any type of band, except possibly jazz etc. BUT, the Peavey stuff is heavy, so mind your back. Regarding sufficient power, I would always DI at med venues and outside gigs, so it only needs to be loud enough for on stage.
7. SOLD to Warwickhunt pending payment. Thanks all...... never had so many PMs over such a short period of time!!!!

9. I'll give Rich a week before this is in the For sale section!!!!! LOL
10. I take it you know the chords to the song, just not the bassline your dep played? If so, why not just apply your own bassline to the song rather than sweat over working out what he played? By the way, nice song!!
11. Most blues standards use a walking I IV V pattern, using a minor pentatonic or blues scales. I dont think theres any need to learn specific songs as they mostly are based around this.
12. This chap seems to have it close...may be of some help. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vcU2VQPC7Ag
13.
Erm Neilb thats just the chords, innit? Try dropping dave_bass5 a PM as he has been in Jam/Weller cover bands and I am certain he will know Edit: I know the octave-y bit you mean, I would guess its not slapped, just picked fast on the octaves
Yes, I guessed that wasnt what he meant when i posted.Sorry.
14. http://www.chordie.com/chord.pere/www.ulti...ab&id=71912 I take it you mean chords, rather than technique???
15. I like the word "posse". Hi from chelmsford
16. Are the scratchplate screws extra?
17. IIRC, you cannot wire P pups out of phase, it does not matter which way round they are. Seems to me the problem lies in the other wiring, poss a dodgy tone cap?
18. have you checked the fuse in the plug?
19. Deffo a fake, but I have no suspicion the seller is a scammer, just very unaware of the bass' provenance and is just going by whats on the stock.
20. Good Love Is On The Way....John Mayer Trio.
