1. I wouldn't go for cheap basses normally but......I came across this cheapy from Thomann. Harley Benton B-500FL The sound this guy produces with it is wonderful. 2. That looks a bit gorgeous. Fraid I've just spent shed loads of money on my house.
3.
Yes but hey this is ONLY about fives... And any reason is good, no, come on?
You must be a four string bassist, i.e you are prejudiced against four string basses. Maybe I'll just get my coat.
4. There's a whole thread of fretless porn. Plenty of fives there. http://basschat.co.uk/topic/136517-fretless-porn/page__hl__fretless
5. Ehm, Colchester. Sorry, coat in hand.
6. I have two basses with chambered bodies. I go for it for weight saving alone. I'm not sure what difference there is in tone as I have never compaired the same pickup system with solids.
7. Ah, I've been look for a new musical direction...
8. Lovely, lovely bass, ziggy. You lucky boy.
9. If you're going to go for a heavier set like that you should think of having your bass setup when they are on. Going from a 'slack' set to a heavy set will change action and intonation quite a bit.
10. That looks like those Chinese EUBs that turn up on Ebay from time to time.
11. Likewise. I usually can't stand singlecuts because the 'uncut' bit is always too big. The proportions of this are just right. Interesting pickup placement.
12.
remember roughly how much it cost you?
I seem to remember it cost about £140 or thereabouts. That was insured and I think 48 hr delivery. You can get a quote from the web site http://www.ups.com/content/gb/en/index.jsx?WT.svl=BrndMrk
13. I used UPS last year to post my Yamaha six string to Germany. Dropped it into the Edinburgh depot. They weighed it, checked it and took my money. Arrived with no problems whatsoever.
14. Thank you kind Sir.
15. I'm sure you'll get a lot more interest if you post photos on here.
16. I'd say Ripper. Spot the difference. 17.
yes it s a bit lame i guess but it was merely to shgow him in plain clothes lol his cross dressing manga pop videos have much better bass playing imho
Ah, now I see who it is. Yes he is a good player but the slapping while accompanying traditional instruments doesn't fit in my ear.
18. When slapping just gets in the way.
19. Sounds like good advice from icastle. I play in a folk trio, fiddle, acoustic guitar and bass. We only play occasionally as a support but a few jokes are told and the audience are engaged. Be sure to get the balance right. Don't try and dominate with the bass. Just keep it basic and take your place as support to the guitar, even if it does stick in your teeth.
20. Yes, post in the relevant for sale section otherwise the mods will be on your back. Might also be worth your while having a look at the rules for selling gear on Basschat. http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?app=forums&module=forums&section=rules&f=19
21. Why not just start a feeler thread in the for sale section where it should be. If there's no interest it can be withdrawn.
22. Interesting point. 8 out of the first twelve at the moment are collective threads. Maybe it's more of a sign that people aren't buying and trading as much as they have been in the past.
23. You held it in Grimsby. Something fishy there.
