Hello All, I just fell in Love with it as soon as I saw it on their website and after a mental wrestle with myself (buying blind, price, import duty, VAT, great piece, great price, etc!) and a few emails with the man here we are What we have here is the base model of the '59 re-issue P bass in terms of specs with the additions of a Custom Shop Jaco jazz bass bridge pickup, a Badass 2 bridge and a Chrome pick guard with Vol, Vol, Tone controls, a side mount jack socket and 70's TV logo. It is finished in Black Pearl, New Old Stock. I appreciate that this is a serious 'Marmite' bass but enjoy the pics! I used the Dunlop 2 part set and it has really brought the luster of that Madagascan Rosewood out!

I'm [i]kind[/i] of with you on this one. Where I falter is that I can see the POV that, for instance, I could never afford an early to mid 60's Fender but could stretch to a Fender Relic/Closet Classic/New Old Stock instrument from the Custom Shop to look, sound & feel like a genuine older instrument. That said I have a bass that's just over 10 years old, that I've had from new, and it has been naturally relic'd which I much prefer the look of as I know I done all that wear and tear/damage! Hello, I'm interested in how the bridge pickup sounds in comparison to a regular USA bridge pickup. If anyone has experience and can shed some light on it for me then that would be great, Cheers, Jon

From what I understand the backing tracks are made by Producers with session Guys/Girls in the week. There's a Producer for each Judge/Category. The people that are on stage pretending to play along during the show are booked by the production company but whether that's through an agency or something similar I don't know.

I can never decide myself so have collected nice examples of each over time!

I would use the CTS pots & Switchcraft jack but with a different Capacitor. From doing this before I've found the Sprague caps to be pretty cheap and widely available...

I use my MarkBass SA450 into one of my Barefaced Compacts for recording. Marvelous sound! Incidentally last time I did record this setup the engineer said the mic on the cab was a better sound than the D.I.!

I would suggest either the Wizard Trad or the S.D. Vintage too - Both will do what you require. My US P bass has the S.D SPB-1 Vintage in it and I'm well happy with it's sound... Good luck, Jon
