1. Just want to vent and moan 'cos I'm fuming AND p!ssed off right now! I bought a Fender CS Masterbuilt Precision bass from Session Music/Musik Schmidt just over 2 weeks ago: http://www.musik-schmidt.de/gb-Fender-Custom-Shop-1970-Precision-Bass-Master-Built-CC-BLK.html Anyway it turned up and was looking good until I tuned it up for the first time... The truss rod had either broken or was completely loose inside the neck due to it rattling when you tapped the back of the neck behind the nut, just like my Bravewood did when its' truss rod went. So back went the bass for a refund and while leaving me sweating a bit over waiting for them to refund me at their leisure I got the double whammy of CC currency exchange charges for my trouble. So it has cost me about £85 for a refund on a faulty bass Anyway, lesson learned and I will only be buying a UK based instrument that I can either try first or get on good recommendation off here from now on and negate any other pesky charges Thanks for listening! Jon
2. Fair enough Twigman! Great build you've got going BTW
3.
... but at least i can recover the import VAT...
How do you do this?
4.
...Getting up close to playing of this quality is a very sobering experience.
This music is not my thing either but a big +1 to what Chris says here.
5. Urb/BassBod - It was done at my work and I worked on this session. LC & the band were just fantastic We had just finished installing a 2nd digital sound desk and needed to do a thorough test of the system and its' features so one of the chaps at work knows Miles Boule (perc on this session) who set it all up. It was a mutual benefit scenario as the cameras and lighting were done as a technical exercise where as the sound side of things was done properly. There also exists a full on DVD-A 5.1 version which is just stunning. BTW It's not a new studio at all. It was done at Fountain Studios where the The Cube, X Factor & BGT amongst others are made and the studio opened in 1959! The footage is all SD, not HD and has been edited in Final Cut Pro. Cheers, Jon
6. Welcome and I hope you find this forum the mine of information that it is. One word of warning though - It is terrible for causing GAS! (Gear Acquisition Syndrome) All the best, Jon
7. Just bought a MB Super Booster pedal off Dan and it was a quick and smooth deal. Thanks Dan!
8. A sad bit of news for sure. RIP Duck http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u_juH0AHvwk
9. Wow - My old cab! This is a beauty and the only reason I moved it on was 'cos I moved into a 2nd floor flat and couldn't lift it up all the stairs on my own As a bit of history/story back fill - I bought it from a bloke in Somerset who wasn't gigging much and it was 'as-new' when I got it. I used it for a bit of gigging with my MB Bass 400+ amp, looked after it well and then ended up selling it to Coasterbass. ATB, Jon
10. If you like the idea of the SD Antiquities then go for it but I would defo wait and see what Andy from Wizard comes back to you with first.
11. Do yourself a favour and read Alex's web page about it all here: http://barefacedbass.com/technical-information/mythbusters1.htm
12. For me I like to have an amp & cab/s that sound great for me and my style by themselves. This makes non-D.I. gigs and recording a lot easier as I know what's there and am happy with.
13. Nice ideas and good looking bass Discreet and kudos to Howard/The Bass Doc for not only making it a reality for you but in such a professional way. Cheers, Jon
14. ooh, what a great amp! Good luck with the sale, I'm sure it won't be around long.
15. OT Not tried an oversized LP bass but I do have one of the older LP Standard basses (non oversized) and it is a bass that sounds crap at low volumes but when cranked up to giggging volume sounds very good. It is very Thunderbird like IMO.
16.
Gibson make amazing instruments, not sure about basses, but in terms of guitars, far better than fender
ha ha ha. Can of worms opened... Oh, and in your opinion! What draws you to it BTW?
17.
... Shill away, if I get outbid, then I let it go. Bear in mind they don't know your maximum.
+1 I bid what I decide and just see what happens. It takes will power though!!!
18.
coat hanger.
Get your coat Seriously good luck there indeed Lf!
19. What a lovely pair you have there Rick! Hope you get the outcome you need either way
20.
+1 Not sure if it is the same one, but I bought one from Mart and it is awesome. If you are after a 'Ray, you won't go far wrong with one of these.
Hi H.K.H, It is not Mart's old one. I bought it new from The Gallery! Thanks for the kind words. All the best, Jon
21.
Very nice mate! If you don't mind me asking..how much did she set you back? I've been thinking about trading my stupid heavy rack for one of these badboys! Not seen any other class D amps that do 2ohm.
Hi Craig, It lists at £1,400- £1,500 but I got an introductory Basschat offer from Mike of £900. Don't know if that still applies though? Cheers, Jon
