Before everyone jumps in and says "oh they should pay, the rotters" Taking them at their word.... they don't sound like they know or think they messed anything up, and what they are saying sounds reasonable and like you would expect someone in there position to respond.
is it worse that they intentionally damage it or that they are possible feckless and wreckless and damage it and then try and deny/disclaim responsibility ? or was it all a complete fortunate accident? either way i would suggest it could be difficult for the OP to prove even to civil court standards of 'balance of probabilities' given what we can see on the thread thus far one for experience

had some quick mods to my 77 strat - job done in no time at all but spent an hour or so just chatting drinking tea - thanks very much Mr Zemaitis
Yes. Sadly I can't see this one ending well. One to put down to experience. Although it would be useful for others to know who the band are so that they can be extra careful if they end up playing with them...
+1 once word goes around the local musos .... you know fred smith from the gearwreckers .... yeah ... well i let him use my rig and he f*cked it ... dont let him near any of your gear (that sort of warning) it may not bring you financial recompense but it will hopefully ensure that ignorant twats like him will in future have to carry and use all their own gear and thus not be given the opportunity to f*ck over anybody else's equipment
Thanks for the "heads up" Steve. Do you know what time you guys are on? The Spitfire has lovely beer, but is a drive away so being there all day could be dangerous
just been advised we are on at 6pm

oh right if youve had it strung that long it should have found its way back to some sort of playing position there is a thread in repairs on here somehwere about truss rods with no adjustment left in them - just having a search edit - this be the one http://basschat.co.uk/topic/97682-truss-rod-maxxd-out but the pics seem to have gone unfortunately
-
do you know roughly how long it was unstrung and tensioned? and how long since you strung it up?
Then, I paid much more attention to the drummer and less to the guitarist...
definitely this unless the guitarist is doing something rhythmically tight i tend to ignore the guitar and just focus on the drums and then the keys in our band - the guitar can be sort of left to its own devices to a degree because as long as drums and bass are locked together it gives the guitarist room for a bit more fluidity im always telling our singist (much to her amusement) that i havent got a clue what she is doing - its not so much wilfully ignoring her but my ear seems to zone out the vox when i focus on the drums and the structure good luck with the gig tonight
I'm in trouble there...I have a dog not a cat. Is it ok to get him to wear a disguise ?
depends is it a dog disguised as a cat? or a cat disguised as a dog?
-
I've been referring to this forum for ages so I thought I'd join up! A little about me....I've just bought a lovely vintage JB and I adore Tal Wilkenfeld. ( her playing is pretty good too....) Be nice to me..I have no idea what I'm doing or how this works. Cheers, Chris
helloooooo nooobs oh btw you have to have a pic of a cat as your avatar - its the new rules apparently
I think I've only ever met one superb funk-disco guitarist. Having said that, he's not too shabby at all. Goes by the name of Nile Rodgers. ....sorry, I just had to do that. I still break into a huge grin when I remember that I have shaken his hand
sounds like you need to familiarise yourself with Paul Jackson Jnr but i agree with 51m0n .... at an amateur/semipro level i have only seen one guitarist locally who i would rate as an excellent rhythm guitarist
I'm talking about the Korean cross-dressing kind, I feel sorry for previous generations who maybe only had one or two experiences of such players. We really do live in a golden era...
-

are you talking real bassists in proper bands and everything .... or bedroom bassists who squeeze their assets into skimpy tops whilst pressing them squidgingly against their basses for all to see on youtube or korean cross-dressing bass-slapping demigods
