When they go off on one about sus7 diminished 9ths etc I just blank them out and talk to the drummer about tits.
thats why drummers bring their own carpet along

oh dear slippery slope and all that

sounds like cronyism

feels slightly more squared also up nearer the nut and behind the zero fret the neck angles backwards so creates a rather unusual nub behind the nut, never bothered me too much to be honest but i could see how some people might find it uncomfortable - as you can see from pic the neck profile starts angling backwards halfway between first and zero fret - hopefully from the oblique view the reflection shows up the strange profile shape at that point - would strongly recommend trying one before you take the plunge (this is an old headed matrix) hope this helps

A great You Tube bassist with an amazing StingRay.
Hmmmm it begs the question 'Would the clip have been posted if she didn't have a nice top on?'
i doubt whether most viewers will be waiting with anticipation of how well she handles that long ascending and descending run more likely they were waiting to see just how much those puppys were squeezing out of that top and pressing squidgingly against the top horn of the ray -
The homogenisation of Britain's pubs is a terrible shame in so many ways - the huge variety of pubs was one of the most individualistic and endearing thing about this country- but their conglomeration into chains of theme pubs is just another example of the inevitable and unstoppable march of Globalisation . In other words , wherever there is money to be made , big international businesses will be making it , rather than smaller organisations or private individuals. They have the financial muscle and therefore the political influence necessary to dominate , and they are using it systematically to wring every penny out of wherever they can , regardless of the wider consequences for society . Wouldn't it be surprising if it were any other way, though?
not just pubs though is it

well wether you like them or loathe them chains such as weatherspoons have a lot to answer for homogenising town and city pubs fortunately out in the sticks 'this' sort of pub is now growing in popularity where villagers form limited company or cooperative and run the pub collectively for the community - http://www.thefarriersarms.com/ a significant number of the pubs in the largish town where i live (pop 300k ish) have turned into chinese take-aways - there are a handful of pubcos but the pubs which seem to do consistently well are the small independent free houses with loyal customers serving good beer and good food
Can you make basses that don't look like Fenders?
yes blind germans make them i believe from diseased trees apparently
-
That's the point I'm getting at... The new Squiers don't feel like an old Fender, but neither do new Fenders. I do think that Squier could help themselves by toning down the 'vintage' toner on the necks (which always looks way too orange for my tastes) but I do see that they're only playing to a current trend. The actual build quality..as pointed out as being a tried and tested method with no development and 60 years to refine the process really should, in terms of manufacturing, be far cheaper. The Far East are proving this and I don't think that any amount of marketing will convince me to buy a 'new' Fender. If anything, I'm now watching to see what Squier will come up with next..
if youre unfortunate enough to be in chavham give me a shout and i can let you demo an affinity and a vm

P.A. What does your band use? And is it any good?
I like the HK Actor systems, never used one but heard them a good few times. Definitely a nice PA! Alto appear to be quite good too, I'm looking into their desks at the moment as I want something a bit newer than the 1604. There's a few Soundcrafts which I've got my eye on too!
+1 for the HK - my previous (function) band had one and one of our recent regular venues has HK as the house PA - lots of clarity -
Haha yeah I totally agree there . Would Stuart Zender have given Rodney Biggleswade, taxi driver from Barnsley a free Warwick for being able to adequately play a few of their numbers? I doubt it!
not unless he had a cracking rack -
Yep, why do we have to find a negative?
because people asked and because that is life full of positives and negatives dontchaknow not that it should warrant being unconstructive or unhelpful of course -
I find this weird. How can she be so tight at it on YT but live she sucks? Nerves or just not practicing I wonder?
Quite feasible really - playing along to a click track or recording at home is one thing but replace that with live musicians and you are no longer concentrating solely on your own playing you are also listening to the rest of the rhythm section to keep the whole thing tight - could most likely be put down to having very little or no experience of gigging?
