So I thought I'd ring Miriam to fetch the car to pick them up, but I'd left my phone at home in my haste to get "on the case". I daren't leave them there, because it would be just my luck for them to have been collected by the thieves while I was getting my car! So I picked them both up and carried them back to the house! I went round to my neighbour to thank her for triggering the hunt in my mind, and her brother turned up with the case....everything still there....nothing gone, not the mic, the tuner, tools, nothing! So I've got everything back that was taken! RESULT! Big thanks to everyone who shared my post, sent me messages of condolence and support, and especially those who offered to tide me over with gear until I got sorted! I informed the police that I had recovered everything and gave them the location of the stash, to be honest it looked as if it had been used before. try some slower things too that rely on timing and getting the groove right - sometimes they are more difficult than youd at first think somebody elses guy for example - not fast but get the groove wrong and you pretty much destroy everything else the band is doing

i live in a town that has long had a decent thriving music scene especially with college bands, and doesnt seem much different here - the one thing that is noticable is that the young upstarts around here do seem to be much more technically proficient than my generation were when we were their age

my five all had new strings this time last year with two of them regularly gigged all still sound fine - all swing66 and luckily i dont get clammy sweaty hands when i play

When it comes down to it i would argue this bass could hold its own against a £1000+ Fender US instrument [/quote] yes i also have a squier J - an affinity series the lowest of the low apparently - similar body very light but nicely resonant - it now has a gotoh bridge and a pair of wizard hammers and a j-east preamp - disregarding the visual aesthetics and finer points of finishing, soundwise is easily comparable to a geddy lee J i was going to vinyl the headstock with blue to match the body but i decided to leave the ugly black squier logo up there instead as the devils advocate in me likes to irritate the gear snobs out there

get a luther estimate/quote for repairs to the fretboard and send it to the energy company just for shits and giggles
