DI Box

good evening fellow basschatters has anybody any experience of homebuild DIY stuff specifically DI box job seekers allowance being not much to live it is a bit difficult to justify the GAS at the moment so was wondering about the cost of a DIY build against a straightforward purchase ive seen passive boxes in the 25-30 pound range and wondered if it was possible to put them together for less than this - as passive DI circuit only contains a transformer and a couple of components (not sure what spec the transformer is tho- have had a wee look online (sowter) and decent audio transformers seem to range anywhere between 20-80+ pounds any electronics boffins any clues to help out please

  4.
I think Steinberger headless basses will soon be making a comeback worn right up under your chin. The sleeves of your jacket rolled up obligatory (mullet optional).
thank goodness... am having a hell of a job trying to find a decent mullet wig
  5.
Similarly, Joni Mitchell's records with Jaco or Larry are crap!
seriously?
  6. so versatile too - you can finger them or slap them!
  7. nicely saved up for the coda at 2:30 edit
Root/ Octave is a secret amongst this sect of musicians known as bassists. Please stop publishing one of our few weapons that others cannot replicate with the same degree of slinkiness.
...although its not on the studio version, on this live version you can hear the guitarist trying to muscle in on the octaves at the end

  13.
Played in a lot of Blues bands, so I guess it should be A or D. But it aint, its almost always walking around C. I wonder what influences these choices. Whether its down to habit from early stuff you learn, pitch of your voice something that resonates in yer brain, or something more mexhanical, like fret spacing, or the angle of your elbow..
usually whatever listen to at time or whatever is stuck in my tiny brain - fret spacing not a significant factor as have a 35 incher and a 34 incher so that is like almost a whole fret/semitone displacement anyways - but i would speculate that the least noodled key is probably F maj
  14. im glad im not the only one!
  15. i was at rehearsal yesterday with my hydrive 410 and due to my age and aching joints the only place to sit was on the cab! for any lady readers you will definitely throw your rabbits away once youve got one these cabs!!! edit - and that was just with the 250w head - must be quite staggering with a kilo head hooked up to this thing

  17.
Me and my dad have just bought tickets to go and see these two live with a full band at Ronnie Scotts on the 21st July. Really looking forward to this, both of them are awesome musicians. Anybody else going to watch?
depending which tickets you have is worth getting there early on the evening and getting right near front of queue as they allocate the seating on the night on a first come first served basis so if you at the front of the queue you stand a good chance of being seated at the tables right at the front edge of the stage
  18. Hi there, nice to be with you, glad you could stick around. Like to introduce `Legs' Larry Smith, drums And Sam Spoons, rhythm pole And Vernon Dudley Bohay-Nowell, bass guitar And Neil Innes, piano. Come in Rodney Slater on the saxophone With Roger Ruskin Spear on tenor sax. I, Vivian Stanshall, trumpet. Big hello to Big John Wayne, xylophone And Robert Morley, guitar. Billy Butlin, spoons. And looking very relaxed, Adolf Hitler on vibes. Nice! Princess Anne on sousaphone. Mmm. Introducing Liberace, clarinet With Garner "Ted" Armstrong on vocals. Lord Snooty and his pals, tap dancing. In the groove with Harold Wilson, violin And Franklin McCormack on harmonica. Over there, Eric Clapton, ukulele. Hi Eric! On my left Sir Kenneth Clark, bass sax. A great honour, sir. And specially flown in for us, a session's gorilla on vox humana. Nice to see Incredible Shrinking Man on euphonium. Drop out with Peter Scott on duck call. Hearing from you later, Casanova on horn. Yeah! Digging General de Gaulle on accordion. Rather wild, General! Thank you, sir. Roy Rogers on Trigger. Tune in Wild Man of Borneo on bongos. Count Basie Orchestra on triangle. Thank you. 19. shop are just adding their cut onto the courier fee which is standard retail practice i guess - ive used ukmail several times to do 'third party collection' - is especially useful for bulky purchases and consignements are all covered minimum 500 insurance with more if required - the only real risk is trusting whether the sender has wrapped it up well enough - shops are usually ok with this but some auction sellers seem to think a black plastic bin liner and a couple of elastic bands will do the job
  20.
I meant to add: I prefer stage left, so the risk of headstock/cymbal clashing is reduced.
this - and luckily most drummers have snare/hihat to the left too which i find an advantage as they tend to be looking more or less your way more often than not
  21.
hes also brother to the famous soul sister Vivienne McKone.. another great track with his epic playing..
LUSH
  22. why 2 necks? the sound of equal amounts of neck+bridge on a J is awesome imo am guessing you might find the bridge a bit harsh and burpy but used in moderation mixed in with the neck it really does add that bit of extra definition the other issue apart from wiring is pole spacing - a J matched pair will not be identical size/spacing - there is approx total 4-5mm difference in pole/string positioning between the neck and bridge
  23. i use ukmail regularly - if you can stick to monday to friday the rates are lower - sats is usually a premium rate with all courier companys rate also depends on volumetric weight - what is it?
  24. oh hai there i hz 7string jem - my what big cymbal u hv edit - maybe this guy should hook up with him
