1. Got to be an Aria, age well and top build quality. I was born in 1971 😥
2. It's interesting, I bought a MIM Jazz a few years ago and it was without a doubt the worst bass I have ever played, my 1985 Hondo (2nd hand) would have destroyed it. On the other hand, every Japanese Fender I have ever played has been awesome. US models overpriced so I would go Japanese...

Dingwall GAS

I too remember my first time picking up a Dingwall.. Mine was an ABZ 4 which I walked out with, soon followed by a Combustion 5. The ABZs are the sort of basses you will take with you to your grave, but 2250 seems steep nonetheless. The Combustions are ludicrous value for money, incredible B string, perfect neck, punchy preamp but more importantly beautifully made, regardless of source construction the quality control is magnificent. Happy to be corrected by anyone but I don't think there will be many. If you can stretch to a second hand Combustion V you will be very very happy.
4. Why would there be anything wrong with it? Go for it!!

UM BONGO

Great choice, never parting with mine. Myung says its the perfect bass and if its good enough for him......
6.
No, but I'm very interested in getting a Vintage Deluxe so please share what prompted you to choose this in preference to the B7K?! Did you also consider getting (or have previously used) the Sansamp VT or the Xotic BB?
B7K is definitely a modern metal pedal, it sounds amazing but I play in a 70s/80s cover band and it just wouldn't work. Asked for the Vintage Deluxe (it's the 2 version with the toggle switches) and played some tunes off our set list - it sounds warm and punchy but if you want to growl and shake things it's all there. Still playing with it but it was definitely the right choice. Sansamp delivers one (incerdible) sound, if it's the right one for you then why not, this pedal gives you a whole ton of options which is handy in a covers band,
7. Left with a Vintage Deluxe. This happen to anyone else?
8. I have a friend looking to sell one on eBay and wondering how much to ask for, what do you think?
9. Everyone should try a Tube Screamer, classic tone and truly responsive
10. Boss Turbo Distortion, OMG the noise you can make with that thing.
11. Don't forget the EBS ValveDrive, phenomenal pedal, if a little pricey
12.
I wandered into a well known music store in Liverpool this pm and was taken aback by the current price of well known USA basses. They seem to have caught up with and then overtaken some of the "boutique" makes. So now you can buy a hand-finished bass with German engineering and pay less for it than the mass-produced original.
No wonder Matsumoku made basses are so popular
13. Desperately want one of these, may well be my next purchase

Dingwalls

I have put my two on the 'never leaving' list, my ABZ is the best bass I've ever played in 30 odd years.

Spector

I have had a number of Spectors down the years, including the DW. They were, every one of them, beautiful basses, just incredible. The reason I moved them all on was that they just sound too much like Spectors!! Not a criticism, just took over my sound a bit too much.
16. Teacup Puma 900 Trace Elliot 715X Hartke HD50
17. Hartke HD50, small, loud, sounds "professional" if you see what I mean
18. First time I tried a Dingwall I thought the fact the fanned frets didn't bother me was because i was so good- I should be so lucky...
19. Here she is, straight from Bass Direct this morning. She's everything it says on the tin, perfect nick too after 30 odd years. Very responsive for a passive bass and lots of tonal options with series/parallel switches for each pickup. Looking forward to next band practice

22. Ended up with an 80s Aria SB, will post pictures when she arrives
23. Dingwall? They do some v expensive models which look and sound stunning. Other thought was a Roscoe?
24.
Glad it was someone on here and not some Ebay scalper wanting to make a quick £200. On a personal level I'm surprising myself about how gutted I am to have missed this - if you decide it's not for you, do give me a shout.
Righto. Will post a NBD when she arrives
25. 'Twas me, will post photos etc. When she arrives - bucket list bass
