1.
Every bass player should own a Thunderbird at least once in their life and with your budget you're also into second hand Ric territory. I'll get my flak jacket
I would look ridiculous with a TB! A Ricky is interesting though thanks
2.
I would add a fretless or maybe 5/6 string?
Don't do these I'm afraid
3.
You've got a Dingwall shaped hole in the stable. Bass Direct have a secondhand starting around £1350 Should try one of these.
Definitely on the list, no idea what they feel like to play though?
4. Thanks folks, I had a USA precision a few years ago and I couldn't get on with it - I keep seeing them and going ooooh that's nice, any particular ones other than the U.S. standard that stand out? It would need real character I guess. BTW I changed the TH500 for the Puma, need to update my list!
5. Every year I allow myself one bass, sometimes I trade in, sometimes I don't. The cash I have available each year is £1,500 and I prefer to buy from dealers rather than one to one/eBay type things (sorry I know that's awkward). I have a Stingray, Spector Euro4LX DW, USA Deluxe Jazz and an old Roscoe which I adore. I'd rather not lose any of them. My last purchase will be paid off in a couple of months so I'm looking at what's next. I play just about anything from Prog to Jazz to 80s pop through a Tecamp Puma 900, and two SL112s. I don't do 5 string or fretless. Any thoughts on what I could go for? Thanks Andy
6. I can only say that I am very happy with my SL112s
7. Can definitely recommend Spector Legend 5, esp. if you can find a Custom with the 3 band EMG circuit rather than the TP Jr.
8.
Something old & blue - Aria Pro RSB Deluxe II, from 1984. Bought this new in December '84, was my main gigging bass until the original neck went like a corkscrew in the mid 90s. Neck's been replaced with a similar (but not identical) RSB Straycat version, which is straight but doesn't feel quite right. Still looking for a proper MIJ RSB replacement, then it might gig again! Jon.
Oh.... I used to have one of those in Pearl White, bought it in '88. Traded it in a few years later, the one bass I wish I had never ever sold, most playable neck I've ever come across apart from the Spector DougW.
9. Finally got a Pedaltrain, you know what they say, 'buy cheap, buy twice'. Here she is.
10. Thanks guys, does anyone know if MXRand Boss pedals can take over 9V?
11. What would happen if I used the 12v outputs on my Harley Benton Powerplant to power standard 9V Boss/MXR pedals? Does anyone else do this? Thanks Andy
12. Hi folks, I need a gig bag that will fit an Aguilar TH500 in the pocket, any advice? Thanks Andy
13. Been playing bass 30 years and have used countless compressors, only lately do I start to understand what compression is and how it affects my sound. The only tip I can give is that is all about the feel in your fingers, in many ways its the best lesson you could have about controlling your own sound. Get a compressor that feels OK and STICK WITH IT - over time it will become part of the muscles in your hand and you will protect it above all other effects. Mine's a Multicomp and it has helped me discover "my sound" (along with a CEB3)
14.
My updated Board:)
Very tidy!
15. Got £100 for a Wah, Cry Baby or Weeping Demon early front runners. Looking for something that can do the spread Doug Wimbish comes up with rather than the Hendrix approach.
16. I've had both. The MIM was awful, felt cheap and nasty, I would have been much better off spending my cash on an Ibanez. The American on the other hand is like a work of art.

NBD - '72 Jazz

Damn thats gorgeous
18. Came with the tortoise, it's a lovely combination. I'm in "sitting looking constantly at my new bass" mode!
19. Only put in an hour or so on it so far but very happy
20. Imagine a TE micro/lightweight head at 500w like a TH500
21. The Ramones were fun and there's no harm in that
