1. Ramble On sounds like flats, or nylons on a jazz. Nylons cut down on fret noise, and clack.
2. Hagstrom, Mosrite, and Vox were some of the working 60's basses. Gibson EB series were biggies too.
3. I used a Rickenbacker 4003, that cost a bit more than the Fender American Deluxe. For what I've found for myself, an American Standard, or an American Deluxe Jazz is great without worrying about money being no object. I could have spent more but I don't need to.
4. This may help. http://www.fender.com/news/quartersawn-necks/
5. For the opposite reason a toilet seat has a hole in it.
6. The Mesa sell only at MSRP. They are worth the bucks. Another good option to the Mesa, the .
7. QS is the way to go. It's just a superior cut. The direction of the grain carries better than FC.
8. That's like, why don't people understand Canadian quarters don't work in American Coke machines.
9. In the mid 60's, and early 70's, when we had a problem with bad room acoustics, we made a frame out of light weight aluminum strips, and draped or hung light blankets, a couple, or a few feet in front of the amps, or drums as needed. This acted as a filter, or a sound damper. As stupid as it sounds, it worked. Same amps, drums, guitars, and basses. Just augmented the sounds. It worked in studios too.
10. The last Fender I had, was a Fender American Standard Precision. It was a good bass, but I like the Rickenbacker 4003 better.

G+L basses

I had two USA G&L SB-2's. They played great. There were a couple of local players in my area that wanted them more than I did, so I sold them. G&L has a good selection of neck configurations also, but I like the Rickenbacker 4003 neck better.
12. I've had active Fender Jazzes, and Precisions. Passive Fender Jazzes, and Precisions. I really wasn't impressed by active basses. Now I'm using a passive Rickenbacker 4003, that I like better than any other.
13. I'll say my 4003 Ric is about as versatile as a Jazz, but with an attiude. It's a nice edge to have a bit more control over the two pups with the toggle switch. The vintage sound option is a plus for versatile sounds also. The neck though is the big plus on playability of the Ric.
14. I'm using the Markbass Mini CMD 121P, and it's very good. 29 Pounds in weight, 300 watts @ 8 ohms, and a tone that's great.
15. One of the better short scale basses.
16. The Markbass Mini CMD 121P Combo / Markbass NY 121 cab. 300 Watts through the Mini CMD 121P Combo, 500 watts with the NY 121 cab. The Combo weighs, 29 pounds, the cab weighs 28 pounds. Markbass, solid well made gear.
17. A Markbass Combo. The 12's, and 15's work great.
18. My one and only bass. A Ric 4003 Ruby.
19. I'm sold on the Markbass amps. Good quality working amps. My Mini CMD 121P Combo and NY121 cab go great. I've played other Markbass amps, and never heard one I didn't like. The 2X12's are just my preference. 500 Watts with the NY121 cab.
20. The Markbass has me extremely satisfied.
21. The only difference between the Markbass Combo Head ll, and the Little Mark lll, the Combo Head ll doesn't have a top panel on the outer case.
22. I'm liking my Markbass Mini CMD121P Combo, with a Markbass NY121 cab. 2X12's At 500 watts. The Combo weighs in at 29 pounds, the cab at 28 pounds. Great sounds too!

24. I recently changed out to the Markbass: Mini CMD121P Combo / Markbass: NY121 cab. I like the sounds from the 2X12 setup. 500 Watts with the cab running off the Combo. 28 Pounds for the cab, 29 pounds for the Combo.
