1. I stayed with 10" drivers. I did however go with the Markbass. The Little Mark Tube 800 head / Traveler 102 P cab.
2. Congrats on your GL Jazz. Put Nylons on it, and you'll never use anything else.
3. When I was on the road with a few bands as a Roadie, It was amazing the abuse the Fenders took, and performed as a top playing bass, later that day, or at the next venue. Gibsons led in head breakage, out of the case, or in the case. The 17 degree angle on the head of a Gibson is a curse.

6.
I've been thinking about getting one of these for a while now as I'm a sucker for blocks and binding. I really like the look of yours and it clearly sounds as good as it looks. I also quite like the black and maple version. Could I ask where you bought it from?
I picked up at a local Guitar Center, in Coconut Creek, FL. The sales rep. I work with there is Russ. A super good guy that knows money doesn't grow on trees. My GK MB210-ll Combo amp is from there also. The Am. Dlx. does sound great, but American Standard Fenders are a great series too. I was going to go with an Am. Std. Jazz, until I saw the Alder on my "Electric Lady", Am. Dlx. Jazz. Another reason I went with the Am. Dlx., the bone nut is cut almost identical to my Nylon strings, (.050 .065, .085, .105 Gauges). The G string is factory .45, I use a .50 G string. Close enough. Factory strings on it were the Fender® USA Super Bass 7250M, NPS (.045 .065, .085, .105 Gauges)
7.
Beautiful bass. Does this one have the passive option?. I have a Fender custom shop version of this coming my way, but it does not have a passive option.
Sorry for taking so long to get back to you. Thanks, it doesn't look to bad. Yes, it has the passive option. The passive/active toggle is below the third knob. That third center knob controls the active treble, and the lower bottom knob controls the active bass tone.
8. I went with the Gallien-Krueger MB210-ll. 350 Watts @8 ohms, 500 watts @4 ohms. Neodymium 10" drivers, HF Horn. (it's a Combo)
9. I just went for the GK MB210-ll Combo. A great amp.
10. Congrats on the new Fender Jazz. I always seem to go back to the Fender Jazz more than any other bass.
11. Thank you sir. The front of the body shows some nice grain in it, but the back looks magnificent. I know it's select Alder, but i've never seen a block of Alder that I believe is one solid block, not two or more boards.
12. Last month I went to Nashville to do studio cuts for an old friend. I had a Ric 4003 with me. It didn't mix as well as i thought it was going to. I used a Fender American Deluxe Jazz they had in the studio. That made up my mind quick. After getting back to my local shops, a Fender American Deluxe Jazz followed me home. The Fenders are hard to beat.
13. It's getting hard to put this one down. It's just so smooth to play.
14. After 44 years of bass, i'm locked in on a Fender Jazz. it plays great, and has a balanced feel. The new C neck works just fine.
15.
Well I think, given the genre, I`d check out one of these Gallien Krueger 212 combos. At 40lbs, and a full 500 watts, has to be worth a look. http://basschat.co.u...35#entry2116335
I agree with Lozz196. the Gallien-Krueger combos are worth a look. If not G-K, the BG250 is a solid combo.
16. This was my e-mail reply I received back from Gallien-Krueger, when I inquired about the material the cab is constructed of. "Hello Glenn, It is constructed of plywood. ;-)" Yeahhhhhhhh!!!!!!! A real cab. Sorry, I got excited! Yeahhhhhhhh!!!!!!! Yeahhhhhhhh!!!!!!! Yeahhhhhhhh!!!!!!!
17. I'm a bit lower on the power level than you, but I prefer the G-K over the TCE.
18. I would go with the 2X12 cab with the 4003. It will give it a bit more bottom thump.
19. I'm in a transition from a TC Electronic RH450 head, and an Ampeg SVT-410HLF cab, to a Gallien-Krueger 700RB-ll head, and a Gallien-Krueger 212MBE-ll cab. I have no problem with the RH450 head, and the 212MBE-ll cab. I just like keeping a head, and cab matching, whenever possible.
20. The G-K 212MBE-ll does very well all around. It has a HF horn that takes the place of tweeters. The thing about 12's that I always appreciated about them, they are so versatile, and it doesn't take an enormous volume to push, and get the sound out. Good Mids, and highs. Great lows! I feel like a kid again going back to 12's. I'm glad the amp companies are reviving the 12" driver.
21. In 1968 12's were the poor man's 15's. I used Jensen 12's in home made cabs to go with Traynor heads. Fender Bassman heads were to expensive, and the Traynor heads kicked. The Mesa M9 Carbine is a killer head. I used a M6 Carbine for a bit.
22.
I've also just dumped an Ampeg SVT 410 HLF and matching amp in favour of the combo version of this GK 2x12. 500W delivered to internal speakers, and 41lbs. No complaints so far...! BB
That's Cool!
23.
Looks a nice cab I guess those are the newer made in the USA type? I'm all over 12's in a 2x12 and I also have 2 single 12's. A 112 will do me for almost any bar/cafe gig and the 2x12 does me for anything larger or outdoors.
I don't know where the manufacture of the cab is. My ordered 212MBE-ll should be here in about five days. Mine is coming from California, at the G-K facilities.
24. I'm going back to a 2X12 cab, where I started out 44 years ago. I ordered a Gallien-Krueger 212MBE-ll cab today. It's a 4 ohm, 600 Watts, with 2X12" Neodymium drivers. It weighs in at 39 pounds. Another good thing about it, it matches up with my TC Electronic RH450 head. My current Ampeg SVT-410HLF cab, weighs in at 85 pounds. It seems that 12" drivers are coming back.
25. It's nice that a 21st fret is there. Not a biggie for me. I can get into enough trouble with 20.
