Came back today repaired, fault gone, extremely loud now. Will give it a go at band practice tomorrow.
Good stuff What cabs are you using with it?
For those interested I decided to go for the ACG as it makes much more sense and think it's an amazing looking bass and not a single person has had any issues aside from Scooby with the weight issue. I'm really excited to give this a try and if it's not for me, i can always shift it on and not lose any money. Worse comes to the worse i can pick up a Limelight in the future as I have begun talking to mark. For those interested Mark's speed of response to my email was excellent and I will update you all with my thoughts on the ACG when i get it sorted with Reggieboomboom. Thanks for all your responses!
Fantastic news mate, I'm sure you won't be disappointed

Oh I should add, when I got it back, the notes on the repair said the amp had been modified to meet revised spec. Eude

Had the same problem with mine, identical set up. I sent it back to be repaired, started the process here >> http://ashdownmusic.com/support/technical/ Pretty swift and painless. Annoying to have to send anything back so soon, but they'll sort you right out, they do a 5 year warranty on their amps! Also, I'd be keen to hear how you get on with this set up live, I'm not gigging at all at the moment, would be nice to hear if the set up works well, feel free to PM or whatever about it if you have time mate, and good luck with the fix Eude

ACG Basses are amoung the finest custom instruments out there in my experience. I've played nothing but ACGs for quite a while now, and it's highly unlikely that'll ever change now. Difficult to make a direct comparison, as the two basses you're looking at are wildly different. One point I can make though, is that the ACG gives you a massive amount of variety in one beautiful instrument and will get you pretty close to a P Bass tone with some work on the preamp. A P Bass will only sound like a P Bass, but that's the reason a lot of folks like 'em. Here's some more videos for you though... http://www.acguitars.co.uk/acg_admin/wordpress/acg-harlot-mkii-6-string-demo-from-cocos-bassment/ http://www.acguitars.co.uk/acg_admin/wordpress/acg-uber-graft-j-type-5-demo-from-cocos-bassment/ http://www.acguitars.co.uk/acg_admin/wordpress/acg-graft-finn-4-demo-by-cocos-bassment/ Eude
Big gauge starts at 130 for the low b , 120 would be too light.
130 isn't too heavy, I use that on my 33" scale basses I was expecting to hear you say something like 145... Eude
-
Oh, and what do you mean by "Big Gauge"?... What exact gauges are you thinking?
-
Beautiful! Really would love to hear this bass! I see Tom will make any of his basses in shorter scales, very cool!
sorry to be a nag but what is the nut width please ?
As far as I'm aware 4 string ACGs have 40mm nuts pretty consistently, unless something else is asked for. Hope that helps, perhaps you could give Alan a shout at ACG HQ for a definitive response...

Warwick Vampyre Bass LTD 4 2003/013 MINT... Value??? HELP!
eude replied to VampyreBass2746's topic in Bass Guitars
We are in the midlands. I do have photos (I'm a photographer by trade) and I will post them once my husband is home with the laptop. We hadn't even thought to sell it until I found it stored up in the family music room. My curiosity got the best of me and I asked my husband about it. He used to play, but has since grown out of it. Coming from a musical family, I knew it was a well made bass, just wasn't sure what he wanted to do with it. His suggestion was "find it a new home." I suppose our fear is taking it back to the states with us and it being damaged somehow in transit. If we were to sell it, on a more long term basis, where would be a good place to do so? Here? How is one connected with the proper people interested in such things? Thanks for your input thus far!! I really appreciate it.
You could put it as a consignment sale with the Manchester Bass Lounge perhaps? www.manchesterbasslounge.com Drew who runs the place is a very decent bloke. There's also Bass Direct and The Bass Gallery down in London. Fairly sure all of the above do consignment sales... Eude -
If Rob Trujilo his having his signature basses customised for himself, then surely the ones Warwick sell to ordinary customers aren't true "signature" basses.
It does seem a bit ridiculous, they've also got the non German made signature versions of most basses too, which are unlikley to ever be played by their endorsers, as they've got the fancier German made ones anyway... Seriously though, if you've got $12,000 to sp**k on a single bass, there's a lot of people out there that can make you EXACTLY what you want, probably for a lot less money too. As nice as the Hellborg bass probably is, I can't imagine it's actually going to be worth $12,000, I appreciate that's a moot point though Eude
-
ANd yet there is a sh*tload of modified Trujillo in the CS gallery. As for the Hellborg, I'd say they won't be making another run soon... But I guess that the best possible answer would come from Warwick : have you tried getting in touch with them ? Their customer service is very friendly.
I think all the customised Trujilo ones are for Rob Trujilo though, probably don't offer anything like that for regular punters...

Just took delivery of my first ever custom (built for me) Bass.

That is gorgeous, congratulations mate! -
I've used the previous generation Rumble 1x12 combo, the tilt back one, at a rehearsal studio near London Bridge on several occasions and it drowned out a noisy drummer with ease and it's only rated at 75W! I expect the new 100W 1x12 combo will be amazing! Eude
ooo. Those tops look so much nicer in person! I look forward to the NBD thread!
Mine will be charcoal, rather than black. The neck and fingerboard are already well underway, but I'm waiting for the top to appear from the US before I start a build thread... Eude
is that 10 string monster thing yours? If so I saw it. looking good and mental in equal measures! I was quoted around a year for my custom build.
God no! 6 strings is my limit, but I keep settling back to 5 as a mainstay. I'd love a go on that 10, and I was extremely surprised at how compact it turned out too. One day I'll likely order a 6 string headless ACG as a super compact, easy to move around, record, gig, rehearse bass, but not for a little while yet. My current build is a 5 string 33" Krell SC with one of those awesome Uber ART tops, hoping to see it before Xmas Eude
Whats the build time on these?.. ACGs that is.
Anywhere between a few months to nearly 12on average I think, but don't quote me. A Graft bass is obviously quicker as a lot are built from stock bodies, but Uber Grafts, Custom and then Uber instruments would obviously take longer. If you manage to convince Alan to build you something insane like a headless 10 string fanned fret half fretted half fretless, it'll take as long as it takes Eude
Did I dream it, or do I remember Alan saying that he was no longer offering solid painted finishes?
As far as I'm aware Alan will only do his Grunge Black finish, I could be wrong though... Eude
The uber graft 5 in faded black on his site at the minute is rather lush...
I've seen it and played it in real life, it's even better in the flesh
