It was designed to have 16.5mm so the Hipshot bridge will be setup to offer that as it's half way point I believe, so a bit of nudge either way. Adjustable to a degree, but I'm not sure you'll get much more than 17.5mm out of it, more likely 17mm comfortably. Tighter spacing is wonderful for finger playing, but can take a little more practice to get comfortable for slapping, but it's easily doable, non broadneck Warwick 5's and 6's have 16.5mm spacing and they seem fairly popular The bass was specced to be about player comfort, hence the tighter spacing, the 52mm nut and the 33" scale Eude
THAT IS NICE! Timing sucks though Are the single coils noiseless ?
Nope, they're designed to get that raw edgy jazz bass tone so they're true single coil, but they're VERY quiet unless you've got noisy electronics. I've not had a problem until I bought my current house, I can't even plug in my wife's high end Marantz hifi amp without getting hum there. I'll still be getting SBs in my next ACG though, they sound fantastic! So in summary, not officially noiseless, but VERY quiet
Oooh lovely bass Eude. Clearly too many strings for a poor fool like me though The o/wound singles coils are great though. I have them on my P/J ACG and have just retro fitted as pair to my passive ACG.
Thank you mate
Weight please ?
Hmm, not sure off the top of my head, but it's probably around 10 lbs, maybe a bit lighter? I'll check it out tonight if I get time. Eude
Ach, I can wire sockets and switches but not much else. I did a quick google and found this, chock full of technical sounding stuff - http://www.theiet.or...&threadid=42230
A ground lift switch on the amp would've helped but ultimately, the whole house need rewiring, the mains for the loft is wired up the side of the house from the garage. I'm fairly sure that's not right! Eude
It's fifty 'ere. Our hum is a bit bassier than our cousins across the pond
Ha ha, fair enough mate Any suggestions on how to fix it bar rewiring the whole house? You're quite good with electronics right? I've tried a Monster Power thing ( http://www.monsterproducts.com/power/monster_power.asp ) which is meant to help, but it does nothing at all, and it's also the most hideous 8 way adapter I ever did see... Eude

I don't notice any fans noise on mine either, I have quite a bit of 60 cycle hum, but the electrics in my house were literally done by a chimp.

Gorgeous bass mate, congratulations! Classy, understated, yet absolutely stunning. Eude
Thanks ead, I think I've bothered Eude on that subject previously and he was very helpful.
Happy to help mate, if you've any other questions, you know where I am
Doable I would think. Not done one for a while personally I prefer the sound of mags.
I completely agree, if you're trying to get a more upright kinda sound, you can do a lot with 2 mag pickups and clever use of the filter preamp on an ACG, never mind string choice. Eude
Thanks Eude I have ordered a MiBass 1x10 rig from Andertons (the warranty and Ashdown customer service helped swing it!). I plan to see how I get on with the 1x10 & add either another 10 or a 12 later. So Bonzodog or anyone else if you try the 12 & 10 together can you report. Thanks all B
Nice one mate, great news Probably not much help, but you can see that setup in this video >> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cLDE84DpNAY Eude

In my experience, 2 X 1x12s would kick the arse off most average 4x10s, obviously, just my own experience of course. Best of luck with it mate
As per another thread i did the other day i am now seriously considering these Mi cabs for my new rig. I will be powering them with a hartke lh500 but not sure whether to go for 2 x 112 cabs or mix it up with a 110 and a 112
The Mi12s will give you a fair bit more oomph, but will take up more space and be more of a pain to move. They're not exactly huge and they're not that heavy, but they're not the smallest 1x12s out there. The Mi10s punch well above their weight, but if you need a lot of stage volume, I'd probably go for 12s. Your idea of one of each might be the best compromise however. I've not been much help have I... Eude
Hi Eude -- Your sig says you use 2 10inch MiBass cabs, but on the Ashdown website they are listed as 4ohm each! are they really 8ohm? Thanks Brendan
Originally the Mi10s were 4 Ohm, but I don't think they sold that many of them in that guise, most people looking for a light modular setup would've liked two 8 Ohm versions, so I guess they listened customer suggestions, including my own, and changed the spec. I think they only make 8 Ohm ones now, there may be some 4 Ohm ones still in shops, but they're not making them anymore. Eude
Thanks, I think from an earlier trawl that Doddy has the earlier MiBass with the semi parametric eq, since I use very little eq this shouldn't be a downer for my use.
Yup, the older models had a similar parametric EQ to the ABM range, the 2.0 has a nice simple Gain/Bass/Mid/Treble/Volume setup, much nicer
-
I've got a little MiBass 2.0 and from what I can tell it's a pretty transparent sound, quite hifi sounding, but you can dial in grit if you want. There's amps out there with more powerful EQ etc, but it ticks all the boxes I need and from what you say, it'll do the same for you. I haven't tried mine live I'm afraid, but I think it'll keep up assuming you use a 4 ohm load to get the full juice out of it. From all the Class D's out there, not many come with a 5 year warranty and very response customer service, I'd go for it if I was you mate Eude

Nice work pal, looking forward to seeing the finished cab!

Seems Beta Aivin, who I think built the original Prometheans for Ibanez, then built cheaper versions based on it for Harley Benton and RedSub are still making these clones. Not sure how you can get one in the UK however... http://www.beta-aivin.com/English/Products/Bass/BT/English_204.html http://www.beta-aivin.com/English/Products/Bass/BT/English_205.html If these are as good as the RedSub that I tried, you'll be laughing!
