1.
Maybe I should've just put that instead, then I wouldnt be missconstrued...... Thanks Eude.
I wouldn't worry dude, we're all pals on here
 2. Juan Alderete from Racer X and now The Mard Volta is using them on tour, 2 stacks with each PF500 going the matching 2x10 and 1x15 cabs. I reckon they'll probably work best with those cabs I love the look, just not ever really been a fan of the Ampeg tone, at least the solid state version of it, but hey, that's just me If I was you, I'd give the head another go with a bit more time and perhaps some more suitable cabs. Good luck! Eude
 3.
I'll have ask the other party before posting any more details here.
No bother matey, I've put 2 + 2 together already
 4.
Trade negotiated.
Ooooh, exciting?... Can you share the details?
 5. Might be worth seeing if Bass Direct will sell it for you matey, things are pretty slow round here?...
 6. Can't say enough good stuff about the Promethean P5110, it punches well above it's weight in so many ways. I've used it for home practice, full rehearsals, smallish gigs without PA support and as a stage monitor for much bigger ones, where it was so loud the guys doing the FOH asked me to turn down as it was interfering with their mix It handles a low nicely and can put out a pretty enormous range of sounds, and the fact that you can also use it with headphones and whap the head out to push 500W at 4 Ohms as part of a big rig is the icing on the cake! The Fender TV 12 is by all accounts a nice sounding amp, but it only does one sound, which I'll bet the Promethean can get close to with it's vibe control, it's more expensive and a fair bit heavier. The only thing the TV 12 has over the Promethean is the 12" speaker, which will obviously push out a bit more natural low end, something you have to force a little with the Ibanez, but having said that, I was playing last night, at fairly low levels and was generating a surprising amount of trouser flap, which I hadn't noticed before. I just wish Ibanez had released a 12" version of the original combo instead of knocking out a cheaper 15" combo, cheapening the brand and failing to follow through on what was really great start in higher end amplification... So in summary, get yourself a Promethean P5110 Combo before they run out! Eude
 7.
Hey man, are these strings new and unused?... Eude
Ah, I see from actually reading the title of your thread that they are new! Sending you a PM in 3, 2, 1... Eude
 8.
Wise words! I'm in no rush really so could always wait until I have the cash. But interest free is quite handy at times... I got a rather speedy reply from Guy at Ashdown about the VS112s and he says (and I quote) "they're not man enough to handle the MAG 300 head" and I'm better off with the C210Ts that are specifically designed for it.
Fair enough mate. Sounds like you're best giving the VS112s a miss then. Was worth a punt ;-) Hope you get yourself a nice lil' rig soon! Eude
 9. Nice one mate! Be really keen to hear how you get on with that there cab, that's an incredible price! Eude
 10. Anyone else clock that it's a 32" scale? I wonder if they might be thinking of doing some more medium scale jobbys? Apparently the Japanese 32" Scale Jazz and Aerodyne Basses are magical... Eude
 11.
Ooh, nice prices you found on Thomann. I've ordered a few things from them before and like their service. Aren't the VS112s rated at 125w? Would the 200w from the MAG 300 be a bit much for a single cab? Also, would 2 VS112s cope with 250w? i.e. you just double the power capability of a single cab if you have two? I'm not that experienced with separate amps and cabs so always need to ask.
I'm fairly sure a single VS-112 would be fine with the MAG at 200W, as long as you don't go too mental. If I'm right, when you hook two 8 Ohm Cabs to a 4 Ohm Load, you half the wattage, so 300W into 2 8 Ohm Loads would be 150W per load, again, as long as you don't go mental, you'll be fine. Maybe you should shoot Ashdown an email, just to be sure though... Eude
 12. Your MAG 300 is even cheaper from Thomann >> http://www.thomann.de/gb/ashdown_mag_300h.htm Tuck a couple of these under it >> http://www.thomann.de/gb/ashdown_vs112.htm ...and you've got yourself a pretty sweet lil' rig for under £500 and Thomann give you a 3 year warranty on everything! The Mi12 Cabs are likely to be around £250 when they become available, and you can get two VS 112s for the same price. You can go with one 1x12 when you don't too much oomph and rock both of them when you do, plus the VS cabs look pimp I'm seriously considering picking up a couple of the VS 112s myself too, but my 500W head might be a bit too much for them, but not an issue for you if you go for thr MAG 300 head... Eude
 13.
The main problem with this bass is that it looks like a bunch of left-over parts bolted together by someone who's never played an instrument before.
I honestly think it is, this whole "Pawn Shop" sh*t is perfect for getting rid of overstock odds and sods...
 14.
This looks far better! still rather poor though! No idea who's in charge at Fender these days!!
They're between a rock and hard place though, if they come up with some actual "new" designs, they'll never get it right, Fender heads will hate them, and non-fender players won't really be interested anyway. They could do a lot better than just bringing out new(ish) colours every so often, or slight tweaks, they could develop things a bit more, refine shapes, improve the weight and handling of instruments, while keeping some more classic examples around too, and I'm sure everyone would be happy to see an improvement in Quality Control. I guess they do this to a certain degree, but they could always do a bit more, it's not as if they don't have the budget for it, a proper Fender Jazz 6 string for instance, folks have been asking for one of those for a very long time, the Steve Bailey sig got close, but it was astronomically expensive, and didn't quite nail it for most folks. I also thought the Roscoe Beck sig was a nice example of what Fender could be doing and should have filtered down to more affordable lines, but it didn't seem to catch on. Mind you, Ernie Ball seem to come up with new and interesting ideas while keeping their brand style, ethos and rabid fan base, there's something Fender are missing... </my other 2p> Eude

 16.
A bridge - Looking at Babicz full contact - shame they don't do a nickel finish one - I know you used to be able to get a nickel finished Badass2 but cannot find one anywhere...so still umming and aahing over a bridge Any ideas for nickel bridges that are not BBOT but can get low action?
Looks like you can get the BadAss II and III in Nickel >> http://www.allparts.com/Leo-Quan-Badass-Bass-Bridges-s/215.htm Reckon they might have recently come out. Eude
 17. Incredibly, bad quick and dirty photoshoppery... This is a bit nicer, no?... Eude
 18.
Why do people go on about upper fret access. I can get to 1-12 un hindered. Thats me covered.
I guess it's each to their own. I like to go up a bit, or at least to have the option, especially when they're there. They may as well stop the fingerboard at the 15th fret and paint the rest the same as the body... Eude
 19.
Wow, that's even worse dusty end access than a Thunderbird. Never though I'd see that in a modern day bass, albeit a retro design. Wilfully perverse, not much thought gone in there. The result of a 5 minute "what if..." chat over a cup of coffee. Can't say I'm impressed.
Yeah, it's a really silly "design" if you ask me, it'll have horrendous neck dive and upper fret access is a joke. I think Low End Bee's comments about using up parts is probably spot on. Must try harder Fender... On a side note though, that semi-hollow geetar, second from the left is lush!.. Eude
 20.
If it's filter circuits you're interested in, then you should also consider a custom made ACG.
+1,000,000! The ACG preamp offers a fair bit more than the Wal preamp in terms of it's versatility, can't comment on the Alembic one though. Oh, and the new ACG EQ03 has low and high mid boost options and active/passive switching on top of all that. I can also vouch for the fit an finish on ACG's too, I've not seen any better :-) Eude
 21. So sorry to hear this Mark. Bump for a truly fantastic instrument and an incredibly nice guy. Cheers, Eude
 22.
Did Ashdown quit making the Mag 600 ? I have one and like it with two Avatar 2x10 cabinets. Is this new 12 band head the same price as the ABM 500? I wish they could handle 2ohm speaker loads.
Looks like the TE500 is only a £10er more than the ABM EVO III >> http://www.soundsliv...ad~ID~17354.asp Eude
 23.
The HB and RS models are identical, but the Ibanez has a different pre-amp - the former two brands have a few more bells and whistles on the front panel. Beta Aivin were developing their own amp when Ibanez approached them with their requirements for a new amp - one of which was a pre-amp based on the MarkBass. The added features of the other Beta Aivin produced models appear to be there so they don't step on Ibanez's toes. However all the amps share the same power modules and supplies. So it might be fair to say that they're all clones of Beta Aivin.
Aaaaah, I stand corrected! I didn't realise that was how it went down. I also didn't know that Ibanez were chasing a bit of that MarkBass tone, which is probably why I like it! I really miss the sound of my ol' LM 250 with an Aggie 112, and I've been planning to up my rig a bit later this year, but maybe I should sort out cabs first and try them with the Promethean head, as it must just be making close to the noise I'm looking for anyway, I'm now fairly sure the natural low end of a 12" speaker compared to the 10" in the Promethean is what I'm really missing Eude
