1.
I've just gone for one of those GK MBE212 4ohms cabs - been glancing at them for months, but the shipment got delayed at least 2 times since they've been in stock. I didn't really want to go this 'budget-way' - I wanted to go for a 2nd hand Tecamp 212 cab, which was for sale up here in BC, but tight funds forced me to choose this GK thing - I'm not expecting much sound-wise, but I hope that they're reliable tech-wise at least... easy L
You might be pleasantly surprised mate, for the complaints I've read on Talkbass, and only on Talkbass, there's plenty of people are amazed at what you get for the money! Don't forget, it the same drivers and components from the higher end GK stuff, just assembled in a different box, in a different country, if it's the v1 you're getting. GK wouldn't put out a product that they weren't completely happy with. Keep us posted on how you get on mate Eude
 2. Hot damn mate! That's is amazing! You must be very chuffed
Yup, fit and finish is amazing, I can't find anything less than 100% and being a fussy sod I've looked real close, it is stunning! Tone wise it's v punchy, almost bell like with a kind of natural compression, nice!
I'd expect nothing less mate, Alan's getting pretty good at this... Eude
 3.
No more news other than what I quoted above. The NEO would probably come out slightly on top. They're braced so they'll give a tigter low end. They'll probably be about the same in volume though. Remember that the MBE is the budget range and the NEOs are GK's premium (though they're still pretty cheap, though you wouldn't guess it just from the cab) neodymium range.
Good stuff mate. I think I'm still sold on the MBE, seems to offer ludicrous value for money and I love the new look too. I reckon if they made a 1x12 MBE II cab they wouldn't be able to assemble them quick enough! Cheers, Eude
 4. So Thom, any news from your mate at Polar?... I see the GK website has all the new gear on it >> http://www.gallien-krueger.com/ The little 1x10 MBE Combo looks brilliant! Also, quick question seeing you're in the know... 2 x NEO 112 II Vs. 1 x 212 MBE II (4 Ohm) - FIGHT! - Which would win, as far as volume, low end and tone goes?... ;-) Eude
 5.
New rig. Terror Bass 500, Barefaced S12T. Lightweight and aggressive...perfect. Can't fault it!
That looks so frigging cool! Nice work!
 6. Thanks for the update dude! In fact, that reminded me that I went over everyone's head and spoke to Mr. GK himself "We are just shipping the first new versions of the MB products. The MB112 is shipping this week, the MBE cabinets are still out about 8 weeks for the US market, Europe will take another 8 weeks. Bob" I really like the new design on the MBE cabs ad combos, quite excited about the prospect and I've got about 4 months to save up too Cheers, Eude
 7.
Has anyone seen or heard the new updated Gallien MB112 II? Spotted it on Thomann and I have to say I really like it. Really nice simple look, it reminds me of a high quality PA cab with the textured finish and the embossed logo on the side. I would be really interested to see if anyone onhere has one as I am after a combo for my upright. Pics below.
Apparently the new ones are made in the US, as they had some QC issues where they got made before. I reckon it would serve you pretty darned well for upright stuff, crazy good price too! Eude
 8.
Iv since been in touch with them again and they were hesitant to answer when I suggested it was an ex demo. They also tried to tell me that Hartke "do not provide manuals with their UK stock as it is too expensive to do so". Clearly they're BSing. They're taking it back tomorrow anyway, and I'll be sending a message to Larry with photos of how his new flagship is being presented by guitarguitar.
Good result mate, take your business somewhere else, they're clearly not worthy of it! Eude
 9. Might even be worth mentioning that you asked for advice on here and there was a unanimous "send it back - they're taking the piss"...
 10.
You get a High Five if ever we meet
You're on. I'd settle for a shot of Nessie though
 11. Is there a prize?

 13. Gibson Artist >> http://www.flyguitars.com/gibson/bass/Victory.php Our very own Neepheid has one refinished in Gold by Ou7shined Eude
 14. There's no way that Hartke would send out a photocopied manual, Larry Hartke is very proud of his products and his customer service, I imagine he would be pretty peev'd at these guys clearly selling ex-demo, refurb, or secondhand gear "as new". You could dob them into Hartke and see what happens, but I reckon that could take a while. I've had very mixed experiences with GuitarGuitar, at least in store anyway, the Epsom one is seriously awesome, but I was treated very rudely in the Edinburgh one a while back, waited over an hour, while the shop wasn't even busy, to get a trade in value on a mint Trace Elliot combo, only for it to be £200 less than the market value, and what I eventually sold it for elsewhere. I'd send it back and order one from somewhere else, I'd probably recount the experience to Hartke too, take some photos before you send it back. Best of luck mate, Eude
 15. www.joinmyband.co.uk might be worth a look mate. Best of luck. Eude
 16.
This company continue to impress. That is one ridiculously well packed tiny amp.
500W and a gain control and that would be some real competition for LittleMarks and the lower end GBs. As it stands though, it's perfect for a gigging bassist that moves around a lot and doesn't require solely on the amp for volume on bigger gigs. There are similar things out there at similar prices, but there's just something about this thing. I really hope that Ocatver and the Spectracomp come out in pedal formats... Eude
 17.
Hopefully on track to ship at the end of the month....!
Brilliant news mate! (on a side note, was the 32" scale a pricey upgrade?...)
 18. Wonder what the price will be?...
 19. New head version of their BG250 Combo. Check it out! >> http://www.tcelectronic.com/bh250.asp I'm not sure it'd be for me, still undecided about TC Gear, but, it does look pretty dang cool! Anyone digging their BG250's?... Eude
 20.
I've shot an email to them but the guy that looks after me is out of the office until Monday so I won't hear anything before then. I'll let ya know if he gives me any details.
Thanks dude, really appreciate your help
 21.
That's strange, Polar are usually on the ball with replying to emails. I'll drop them one and see if they have any news.
Thanks man, you were going to be my next port of call if I had no luck, what with you being "Mr GK" n'all It might just be me, perhaps a memo went out to everyone telling them not to reply to my annoying emails... I should add, Alex at Barefaced was also fantastic with communication, like Ashdown, I ended up not going in that direction, but I should point out that he's very good at answering queries, questions etc. Eude
 22.
No problem bud, I've been meaning to post a review but not had the time/been away! Yeah I've seen the threads about the bracing, at the moment I'm not too bothered as I like the sounds I'm getting although its good to have options. I'm away at the moment but hopefully they'll still be for sale when I'm back! Be interesting to see what the new prices are though, and if they remain cheaper than the neo range.
Based on the US pricing, I reckon they'll gone in under the NEOs, but at the original prices the first lot were at, so nearer £400 for the new MBE 212. I've e-mithered the UK distributor asking about availability, but as usual I've not heard anything. <rant>I rarely get any response from manufacturers or distributors in the amp business, which is really really poor. The only folks, in my experience, who are prompt, friendly and seem to value customers and potential customers are Ashdown. It takes very little and it goes a long way... </rant> Eude
 23.
It's great so far, although I'm still yet to gig with it but I don't have any worries about it keeping up with the rest of the band. I'm playing through it hours at a time in practise and it sounds great to my ears. Only niggle is the build quality, feels a little fragile but this is probably because I'm used to throwing around indestructible Peavey and TE cabs I might try and get another one, not because I'd need it really, just because!
Thanks for the update mate The build quality has come under fire a little, over on Talkbass anyway, but I think a bit of DIY bracing and dampening can really improve things. Bit of background here for ya >> http://basschat.co.uk/topic/179802-i-finally-got-around-to-dampening-bracing-my-laney-cab/ They've moved the production back to the US for these now, and the revamped ones look different, which is why the price is so good right now, if you want to get a matching one, you might need to act fast while they're still available... Eude
 24. Seems the tweaked US built versions of these cabs are on the way >> http://www.amazon.com/Gallien-Krueger-212MBE-II-Bass-Amplifier-Cabinet/dp/B007SQZLU8 I really like the new design Eude
 25. Wenge all the way for tone, however the SS1 looks great all maple, plus it's good to have a bit of variety in the range in sound and looks, so my vote would be to stick with the maple... Eude
