Pedal pcb did the original trace and I can vouch for their quality - they also have isolated the ground pours for the different parts of the circuit which five cats don’t seem to have done.

Aion effects boards are good too - really good documentation on their site https://www.musikding.de/TS-50-Bass-Preamp-kit

Buy the kit from Musikding - seriously unless you’re going to be ordering enough to make 6-7 pedals this year Musikding kits work out very good value. (I’ve built this one (ppcb skeptical buffer), it’s good. The ppcb frequency interchange is worth building too)
  4. In fairness to him, him and Scott do also offer a series of courses to improve everyone’s technique… 🤣

Oh I should add I want to avoid building pedals for other ppl, not as fun as building for yourself

I got a big cheese Musikding kit for Christmas - which is exciting. ive got a few other things that I would like to try, but kinda want to do another pcb design and assembly again next year - any ideas what it would be good to do? Last year was the mini prunes and custards - and I ended up selling 9 of them … kinda want to avoid that again, but equally pcb A is expensive if you end up with 9 unused and populated boards! not sure what to make, my guidelines would be interesting on bass not in current production prob not something that I can easily get from Musikding as a kit. I don’t mind developing have mods or tunings for something. one suggestion was a mk2 octabvre which someone has and said I could trace in a non destructive way - would have to work out cap values on breadboard though!
  8. My Mother-in-law got a Musikding kit of Aion's version of a Lovetone Big Cheese. Not sure what it will be like but I saw it on a photo of Colin Greenwood's board and want to try...
  9. It’s smaller than the small one, the small one has soft touch switching and assorted circuitry
  10. The iron man is based on/a version of a smallsound/bigsound mini … it’s great
  11. you have some of the best pedals. I could repeat that for quite a few of the things you're selling here!
  12. Designer for a EV charging network! I think you're a bit better looking and with more hair than me though so it might be noticeable to the rest of the team...
  13. Just for clarity … AI as in artificial intelligence, or Al as in short for Al Krow? On my phone a uppercase i and lowercase L are the same. I mean if Al Krow did come steal my job, it would be, to quote him , a game changer’
  14. Like what would happen if it replaced the cab m and the Siméon and….
  15. It’s all relative to income too isn’t it? I’ve worked on min wage when a Mexican fender was beyond my means, and I’ve had very well paid friends who could drop £5k on a bass if they wanted - but in careers that probably wouldn’t give them the time to play much. Ive known people who have a seperate bass fund and spend out of gig earnings, vs hobby funds vs people on here who buy expensive things they can’t afford on credit … all going to affect what you see as affordable.
  16. Isn't this a slightly odd question due to inflation? If you've not bought basses for a few years then you'll probably be surprised that a new USA fender is just under £2k! Which is only tangentially relevant if I've bought stuff secondhand.
  17. out of interest @BigRedX - as well as getting it to work with your setup - how do you find it sounds?

  20. top tip ... retroreel with the wow/flutter off and the saturation up is a nice fattener
  21. but 99% of people here aren't running the business. I get where you're coming from though, there is the risk that this move could end up with hobbyists in the crossfire, or at that price anyone selling a secondhand car or posh push bike would be reportable. buying secondhand stuff I don't have receipts for how much I paid or anything - but the taxman would have to show that you were selling your bitsas for profit, not that you're selling lots of nice bitsas - and the reality is if you set your music playing up as a self employed side hustle the costs of storage, strings, insurance, new pedals, depreciation etc would soon offset any potential profits you might be making.
  22. Or 100% aimed at people currently avoiding tax on income … Depending on your point of view.
  23. I used to own a H9 - it was awesome. This doubly so!
  24. If you look in the iem bible thread it Depends on the seal you get - the tighter the better as you get more low end and can run them quieter. with my iem I use the triple flange Christmas tree type ones which give a good seal and last ages - time to investigate earbud tips…
