1. I just play root notes until the band drop the song because it sounds rubbish.........
 2.
True, it depends on the kind of audience and their alcohol levels
Ah this is why I insist on only playing really late in the evening. This is to give the crowd chance to get drunk enough to think I am brilliant I love it when a staggering soul yells out 'your beeping fantastic mate!'
 3.
While other musicians might not care about the non-musical aspects of your performance, in order to have a hope of playing for anything other than your personal enjoyment you will have to appeal to a more general audience who most definitely will want something worth looking at as well as listening to.
I have your CD and can't wait to catch one of your performances My band are not as flambouyant as yours but we still make an effort to look the part and to move around! I agree with all your comments above
 4. Love to lisen to Jack Bruce but sadly don't sound like him at all I'd say I sound more like Sid Vicious.................
 5. As said above, if you can record yourself, do it. I record myself (solo) every few months to see if I sound better Vain I know but it really helps to focus the parts you feel need improvement.
 6.
Only heavy metal, and that ended in 1993.
If that has more than three chords and in a pattern other than I IV V, then it's just not music.............. coat on and on my way
 7. I like to try and look the part, whatever I am doing! I wear a suit to work. Overalls to fix my bike. Jeans and T shirt whilst playing in the band
 8. Because we play mainly blues / rock venues, we can usually pull something out the bag We will usually just play a twelve bar and get the words to fit............ Aparently, they still made records after 1979, but I don't believe it personally
 9. It's all about the music. If you enjoy playing, at least keep something back Just think of the time you have put into your playing. Sad to hear it but it's your choice. Personally, I am battling against arthritis and will keep playing until I can no longer move my fingers! Blademan
 10. Superb pics! IoW rules the bass waves
 11. Welcome aboard I have been a huge fan for a long time. Enjoy the experience!
 12. That was really cool. The laid back style covers the complexity of the groove. Fantastic
 13.
I don't like it. I've seen bands that do this and what I don't like is sounds coming out at me which are not attributable to any action performed on an instrument on stage. The falseness of it irritates me. Just a personal opinion, you decide
We are probably in a minority, but I agree with you
 14.
Blue picks are crap. I tried one for half a second 10 years ago and didn't quite get on with it. Actually I didn't try it. But I thought about it. Actually it was my mate who thought about it.
Ah, that was you was it? Do you go for the purple one instead?
 15.
Hi, i drive a Focus estate, do you think that if i recline the back seat i could fit one of these blue picks inside?
They are not really suited to the Focus Estate. I would suggest upgrading to a Mondeo Estate or similar. Or go for a purple Pick as that fits the Focus perfectly
 16. If I am trying first then I will always walk away if it doesn't feel right. Having said that my Jaco bass was unplayable from the off and took weeks of fettling before being sorted! Defeated my own argument
 17.
Even if you had the cash spare, what could you do with it. Really. Especially if you respect the history of the instrument.
personally I would start a tribute band and gig it
 18.
Yes I ordered one but it got lost in the post.
Did you get a tracking number? I ended up with 2 when mine got lost....
 19. Welcome aboard. I liked your post in the 'minimum posts for noobs' thread. Looking forward to more level headed discussion
 20.
What about the other 9,919? Don't you want them to know?
Quiet now or there will be a stampede
 21.
+1 well said peeps ............................ AhA post No 2
stick with me and you will soon be no longer a noob lol

 23. Welcome to the forum. Check out the for sale section, I am sure you will find a decent small combo to suit your needs.
 24.
Fur, that's the way to go
Ah, Murph and the Magic Tones...... oh yes!
 25.
I practice 2 hours everyday except Thursday, without fail. However, new bass means intensive practice, just to get to know it
I only do half an hour a day now. My days are a lot longer now I commute over an hour each way It tends to be first thing in the morning (with headphones!) or last thing at night. Good on you keeping a routine like that. I wish I was more dedicated!
