1.
Wow.. I want me a fretless !!
I've got one you can have for £100 lol
 2. I am off to the IOM tomorrow, but when I'm back, I will have to voice my opinion. Perhaps they will agree, perhaps I will be looking for a new position
 3. I hope you held out for the 3L bottle
 4.
So no more than half dozen run thru's max either in rehearsal of gigs and then you know.
I think that's a fair comment. Who decides? I think I am going to be unpopular with the band but at least one of ours needs to be dropped. I've recorded it a couple of times and there is no improvement.
 5.
In the covers band I`m in, we play a song twice - if it doesn`t sound giggable at the end of the 2nd time, we know it will never work for us. Yes, we could probably do a lot of work on it, and get there, but if it doesn`t flow naturally, we don`t want such songs in the set.
only a couple of times? We wouldn't have a set at that rate!
 6.
The original meaning is to kill one in ten (hence the "deci" part) which in my book isn't a large percentage at all.
Ah point taken
 7.
Just the pedant in me objecting to the modern mis-use of the word "decimate".
dec·i·mate Verb:

Kill, destroy, or remove a large percentage of.
What did I do wrong?
 8.
A few weeks ago I got bollocked by an uppity little sax player (must have been all of 22 years old) for playing the wrong bass line in 'Sweet Home Chicago'. I asked, politely, what was the right version and was told forcibly it was as played at Claptons Crossroads Festival a few years ago ".......haven't you got the DVD?". I bit my tongue, took a sip of IPA and explained calmly that this song was over 80 years old to my knowledge and had been played by everyone and their mothers and their dogs all over the world for eons (including me since 1965) and there wasn't any set bass line/groove/rhythm - this is a jam. I was then told to go forth and multiply (which I did rapidly) and if the numpty ever appears within reach again I may have yet another dent on my well worn Pbass.
This made me chuckle. I have had smilar experiences at jam nights. I once dared deviate from a walking bass line in some nameless ancient 12 bar......... Sadly, my reaction got me barred from the establishment
 9. We had a really good rehearsal last night. I felt more comfortable going back to the original lines from the covers we do. (I have posted previously about losing my way a bit) However, there are certain songs we perform, that to me at least, are never going to be tight. When do you call a halt to rehearsing and trying to get it right? Great songs should be given a fair chance, but how many times can you play the same song badly? What are your feelings? 10 times then drop it? 50 times? Where do you draw the line!
 10.
Thank Jesus I am 5 hours away
I hear you buddy
 11.
No, no, no. It's the Terence Trent D'arby song.
or Free / Bad Company lol
 12.
Hardly a problem with 27 other songs still available to play.
until they ban those too I will pay the fine and keep Freebird alive!
 13.
O/T but is that your dog in your avatar? I've got a boxer with the same colouring and I thought it was him for a minute. He's the type of knobhead to wear a cape too.
The picture came from our singer. Bit harsh about the cape lol
 14. Most songs if they came after 1979. I look at the chords the guitar is playing and jam along.
 15. I have a long way to go! Still at only 46 I may get there...... not lol Great playing and skill.
 16. E strings break? That is amazing! Perhaps I should carry spares
 17.
If you lose the grove you're a hopeless druid
18. That's 144 Euro with shipping to the UK. I am very tempted. Don't know why as I have two Jazz basses already, but it's just so 'pretty' I love the ashtrays. Edit: My misses just said, well are you going to order one? I'll let you know
 19.
I know how you feel. The drummer in our band started going downhill (she's young, doing too much dope and started losing enthusiasm for everything) and eventually quit. She had also had an affair with our lead guitarist (before she decided she's a lesbian. again). The guitarist has just left his wife, who is the sister of the wife-to-be of our singer. I also used to "know" her mother. (Well, it is Norfolk....). All in all, it's amazing we hung together as long as we did.
This just made me spill my cuppa and spray the laptop! Just gotta love Norfolk (thinking of moving there as it sounds far better than bucks!)
 20.
Wasn't Alan Jackson a bass player? If not him I'm sure one of the brothers was...
I just had a quick scan and I agree at least one of the brothers did play bass. They started as an instrumental band IIRC.
 21. And put an add on BC. That's where I found my teacher
 22.
Maybe try to find a happy life-music balance, as opposed to quitting altogether? And if you're losing girlfriends purely because of being a musician, you're clearly hanging with the wrong women...
I'm quite lucky that my wife likes being married to a musician She often posts things on facebook like 'I'm sleeping with the bass player after the gig tonight!' Just need to work out what band he's in and give him a slap lol
 23.
Thanks! It sounds great too, it really does. I posted it was the same as the SX, but it's made by a different company ( Sunsmile Guitars )
I want one! Was that really only €129
