1. I answered an add for a punk band. We play 4 punk songs............... the rest are good old blues / rock etc You never can tell
2.
Why you? Why not you ? Everyone has nerves - for some standing up and playing in front of people is the big ish , for others it can be lack of confidence in their abilities or fear of letting band members down - all sorts. None of which matters a toss. What matters is dealing with it. so........ Put on an actors clothes. Assume the role of a confident performer. I assure you , after a while you will become one. I did. Forgetting stuff ??? Every gig you ever play will have mistakes in it. You , others... everyone. Again , what matters is how you deal with it. Experience will mean you get out if tight corners more and more easily. You'll find it becomes less of a problem. I did.
Sound advice. I actually took up am dram to get over stage fright. Facing a packed house whilst performing the crucible made me realise I could face anything
3.
I know there's many who would like to see the subject of LYL's affections - I would also point out I was wearing my really cool " Bass Players Hat" What's not to like?
Ah, headstock missing.... no wonder she was confused - it's one of those elusive headless P basses.....
4. A really relaxing piece. I really should practice more and perhaps one day...........
5.
OK - here's mine - fock knows what you'll think of this - all done very quickly on a Sunday while cooking dinner in between takes http://soundcloud.co...shed-and-pulled
It's looking like I won't get any votes The quality is superb!
6.
I am only putting this on here to show that I tried but I have given up (its taking too long and I can't play the instruments well enough to make it sound 'proper!!) http://soundcloud.co...1/mosh-pitata-2 Here is my effort to do it with found sounds (I was being ironic!!) http://soundcloud.co...r-1/mosh-pitata
Well I liked it Bilbo Certainly a lot better than my effort!
7. Heres my go http://soundcloud.com/blademan_98/stomper-track
8.
Hold on,you mean a girl actually spoke to a bassist after a gig?
Now we know it's just a made up story
9.
Precision style with a Jazz pick-up should get the alarm bells ringing.
lol I had not spotted that
10. Looks quite nice. For £180 does it matter if its a Squier or even a lesser clone? It's all about how it plays and sounds
11.
I very much doubt cross dressing would have helped the situation.
This just made my day Brilliant response!
12. Personally, I think track 4 gives the best sound. It's hard to give advice as sound is subjective. Maybe bring the bass up a bit in the mix but overall, it sounds ok to me
13. Went to see my parents in Lincolnshire so no bass playing today. I am going to make up for it tomorrow We are recording some demo's so I need to get in the groove!
14.
First time ever I've been referred to as an "advanced player"! Just bought this: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Cajon-Cajon-Sonor-Cajon-Grande-Pro-Range-Cajon-Drum-Free-Sonor-Cajon-Bag-NEW-/180962800039?pt=UK_Musical_Instruments_Drums_Percussions_MJ&hash=item2a223931a7&nma=true&si=nu7zue8rrkLZqNy2QWnkuVYy4JA%3D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557
Ah I stick with root so you are very advanced That looks like a nice cajon. I am even tempted to get one myself!
15. I too will enter the next one. All of the entries are good, the bar is set very high! I did start a track for this one but I didn't finish it
16. I couldn't even sell a bass for £75 There is a pay freeze at work this year (and it's my first year there!). I spend £200 a month on fuel for car and bike (I had a company car in my old job) so I don't have much left for more gear
17.
Enjoyed it anyway. Made a nice change to root, 3rd, 5th.
You advanced bass players I have played a cajon at a few jam nights. Quite good fun if you take them in the spirit they are made in!
18. Beard, Tattoo's, Moody, Always deep in thought. That must be why I sold my guitars and bought 4 basses
19.
What happens at a jam night? It sounds ghastly.
Basically, a bunch of musicians get together and play a few tunes. Quite often Blues as everyone knows the 12 bar format. I've played a few in my time and they can be fun
20. had a great rehearsal last night Three hours of playing and laughing. I have 5 new songs to learn for next week lol
21. The Pheasant in Tring every Thursday. Blademan
22. left home at 7:00am got home at 7:00pm looked at bass then looked away again Got a rehearsal on Thursday so will have a practice tomorrow
23. My father was self employed as he wanted to 'live the dream'. He went bust because he also didn't charge enough to cover his overheads. I tried to do something similar a few years ago but the numbers just didn't work. It is a shame but thats so called progress for you!
24.
Well said, I'd second this, I think playability is much more important than what's written on the headstock.
So do I and you can always put a Fender logo on it The chap I bought my Squier from did just that lol
25. It is all about trust. The buyer trusts you to send the bass. You trust the seller not to reverse the payment on PayPal after you have despatched. Check feedback if possible. I have not had any problems on BC and there have been very few cases (only two I can think of) where it has gone wrong with others. Don't worry and good luck
