1. That didn't take long. **SOLD PENDING THE USUAL GUBBINS**
2. Glockenklang Soul high-end bass amp, made in Germany . This is a lovely sounding head, and I thought it would be my keeper head, but I've moved to a pre/power amp setup now. It's solid state and very pure sounding. What I like about it is that it is very transparent, yet still adds 'girth' and depth to the tone (especially at high volumes) It also has a lovely overdrive from the pre, despite not being valve. It never sounds harsh or unmusical. From what I hear, most Glock owners bypass the EQ as they love the core tone so much, and that's what I ended up doing too. I've had many compliments from sound guys and bass players. It seems to be very 'honestly' rated in terms of watts - it's plenty loud enough for band situations. The master volume actually works like a volume should - turning from zero to fully clockwise yields a steady increase in volume - no 80% at halfway like many others - and it thrives on being cranked - something I feel many D Class amps are not so great at. Some user reviews: http://www.bassgeard...Version%201.pdf Here's the info from Glock: The Glockenklang Soul head rewards its owners with clear, articulate and powerful sound reproduction. Its power amp was designed to be lightning fast, and to deliver high fidelity performance. The pre amp´s main feature is the 5 band eq, with it´s specially tailored frequency centers. There are a few very small dots where paint has scratched off the edges, and one tiny scratch on top. Otherwise, it's tip top. I prefer not to rackmount my gear (I never feel like they offer enough protection from knocks/vibrations) and keep it in a padded case for transport, placing it on the cab for playing. You'll notice that I've put some Sugru (black silicone) on the corners. This is for extra protection and it makes slipping it into a case much easier. If you don't like this, just peel/cut it off. If shipping, I'd rather use the foam-lined case (pictured) but I must say that although this case offers good protection for the head, it is not what I'd call a gig-quality case. I also have a Warwick rockbag rackbag that you can have. I'm in Nottingham, near J26 of the M1 My Feedback: http://basschat.co.u...00-roland-rock/ This is part of a big clearout, so no trades please
3. Trace Elliott Twin Valve Valve head. I went through a bit of an amp addiction phase, and picked this up a few months ago. It's quite an amazing amp, but I just don't have use for it. I spent money making sure this is working perfectly. This has 2x12AX7s in the preamp and 2x6550s in the power section. I recently took both my valve amps to valve amp guru John Chambers for a checkup/MOT. He told me that one of the power valves was kaput, so put in a matching replacement and given a check over. Now it has been signed off as working 100%. It really is astounding how loud this head is through my Super Twin cab - it had the whole room vibrating with the chairs moving across the floor. Tonewise, it's very versatile. You can get some nice dirt when pushing it, but overall I'd say it's a clean sounding valve amp. There is a preset which gives a scooped EQ (I found this nice for reggae with the treble backed off) and you can kick in the slidey EQ to mould the tone to your tastes. There is a lot of deep bass available from this head, but it can easily be controlled. It is a well-used head, and you can tell cosmetically. The master knob is a replacement, and several of the slidey EQ tabs have snapped, but all are still easily adjustable, even by a nail-biter like me. You can see from the pics the condition. It's well used, but working fine. One of my favourite things about this head is the ease of transport. It's not heavy for a valve amp, and the side handles mean you can grab it with one hand and it hangs really nicely down by your side. Check out the picture of me holding it by the handle with one finger! I'd really rather this was picked up, but if you want to arrange a courier, that can be done. I'm in NG6 Nottingham, not far from J26 of the M1 My Feedback http://basschat.co.u...00-roland-rock/ This is part of a big clearout, so no trades please

5. I could do you an aluminium baseplate if you're interested BRX
6. Did I dream it, or do I remember Alan saying that he was no longer offering solid painted finishes?
7.
If I can get to the Maze on the 12th, I'll see you there.
Nice one Stephen, maybe see you there
8. How about £5.93? http://www.bluearan.co.uk/index.php?id=SKT180014&browsemode=category
9. No it doesn't, just cone area. Seemed pretty convincing to me though :-D
10. Sorry to hear about the redundancy Shep :-(
11. Not a bad position to be in! That's enough berg to sink the Titanic!
12. Another great transaction with Derrick. This time I bought an Avalon U5 from him. Communication, speed, packaging etc were all superb.
13. Looking forward to getting to grips with this rig. If this doesn't satisfy my 'ultra clean' quest, nothing will
14. Agreed. I wonder how long it will be before Fender realise that they still haven't found what they're looking for.
15. Bargain!
16. I'd be interested in this too
17. Get out now while you still have your dignity
18. Nice one thanks. I have the OC3 on my board and am loving that wet sound. Lots still to play with too with the LPF
19.
OoOoh, and I've just put my 8x10 up for sale (shameless plug)
If only you were in the right part of the country......

I bought a Boss OC-3 from Luke. Communication was excellent and delivery was super speedy. Great chap to do business with.
21. It's hard to see (on my phone at least) whether there are holes for a thumb rest. If not, at best it's a replacement scratchplate, and at worst a fake
22.
Usually the issue is midbass boom, which you need to notch out. I'd make the filters all -6dB cut, each at a different frequency, say at 80Hz, 120Hz, 160Hz, 200Hz and 250Hz. Then you can scroll up through them to find the right one for the room you're in. If your cab tends to run on the boomy side anyway you might want to make it a -10dB cut. Most guys like a tone that's fat in the lows and the mids, and getting it as often as not doesn't mean boosting the lows and mids but rather taming the midbass that can mask them.
That's great, thanks for that. Might be a good idea for a head manufacturer to have a 'no room boom' dial with those five options to try :-) Thinking about it, I have a vague memory of Dave Marks demonstrating an EBS head, and his description of the 'notch' control sounded similar to this.
23. The above are all true in practical terms, but I would argue that the futile endless pursuit of the perfect bass/tone/rig is a hobby quite separate from the music. Hobbies are used as distraction/catharsis/relaxation/time away from spouse etc. and that in itself can* be a good thing. *not guaranteed. Please use responsibly. Side effects may include damage to bank balance and/or relationships.
24.
i hope you complimented him on his expert appraisal and comprehensive knowledge of all things 'smack-related' ... but dont go so far as asking him to suggest an alternative ... you might end up with U2 or Coldsore or something
Haha, funny you should say that - Coldplay are his favourite band! I couldn't even be bothered to respond, like shooting fish on a barrel.
25.
I EQ for every room, because every room sounds different. The main differences in rooms tend to be in the midbass, 100 to 250Hz, so that's where I usually have to adjust for the room, leaving all else alone. That means you need an EQ capable of working within that bandwidth alone, a graphic or parametric. 3 or 4 band EQs typically don't give you the adjustment accuracy that you need to account for room acoustics.
Hi Bill, I'm in the process of setting up a pre/power rig where the pre has a gorgeous core tone, but very little in terms of tone shaping capability. However, the power amp can be programmed (via Band Manager architect software) with up to 15 presets. If I were to create say five '100-250hz room' presets, what settings would you suggest?
