  1. My wife's grandad (long deceased) was a quite well known Black Country raconteur/comedian back in the day & did a gig for the local Inland Revenue office Christmas party. He demanded to be paid in cash & they did, no questions asked
  2. was 10am until 4pm last year, so I am assuming the same but Scrumpymike will prob confirm in a bit?
  3. Got 3 or 4 power bars in my leads n stuff box, will chuck in a couple more n'awl!
  4. What a handsome beast! Bloke playing it aint too shabby either! Looking forward to seeing & playing Jabba's latest creations on Sunday. That fretless & the 5'er were ace!
  5. Yes. I do. Got a Squire VM5 Precision & a VM5 Jazz. Gig & record with both. Bought both 2nd hand unmarked for £210 & £190 respectively. Cheap & cheerful? Yarp but also very good. Sure an american version would be a better instrument but I can take these to the roughest venue & if it gets damaged or nicked its not the end of the world. I have barely played my pukka Stingray since getting the Squires.
  6. got a pedal to donate for the raffle (that I won in last years raffle donated by Rich iirc?) it's a fully functioning Line 6 Otto filter auto wah thingy. Already got a Q-tron so its surplus to my board requirements, so will bring it along for the next happy winner!
  7. Saw him with Pat Travers Band at Reading 1980. Pat Travers & Pat Thrall on guitars, Mars Cowling on Bass & Tommy Aldridge on drums. Brilliant gig, Mars was a big influence on my bass playing, rock with a very funky groove & digging in grunt!
  8. I believe the 5 isn't a date, it stands for Precision model. Fenders model number 5. It's a beaut, GLWTS.
  9. Any lateral adjustment in the bridge? Strings don't look evenly spaced across fret board on the pic looking down the next towards headstock? Might be my eyes, its late & just had a post rehearsal single malt !
  10. Just bought a TC alter ego delay from Pinball, top comms, well packaged, super swift delivery, all round excellent fella!
  11. Decent bass, I had the Rob DiLeo model for a while.
  12. they are a class above the average bar band!
  13. Ooofftt! Very noice! Way too rich for me but GLWTS.
  14. My admiration for the organisers of any Bass Bash in the country is immense. Its a big task & you guys have my gratitude. I will always try to attend & support as it is the best fun to be a Bass Basher! The South West Bashes (my local) have been great & very well organised by members Yorks5stringer, then Jimrs2k & now taken on by Scrumpymike. Last years was the biggest yet that I have attended, onward to this years Big Fat South West Bass Bash on 8th April 2018!
  15. Yap, as mentioned check out the Events bit of this forum. Not long now until the 2nd Big Fat South West Bass Bash (BFSWBB). almost the most fun you can have with yer togs on! A convivial afternoon in the jolly good company of basschatters, trying out other basses /amps/effects, blaarting about said basses/amps/effects etc. Homebuilts, vintage & rare gear often make appearances. Tea & cake are often available, sometimes beer & someone mentioned sandwiches. Pah, pish & tish to sandwiches! Check out the photos of last years BFSWBB for the amazing spread of scran put on by Mrs Scumpymike (event organisers missus) & her team of masterful catering Scrumpettes! Wonderful!
  16. Squier VM Precision & Jazz 5 str's. Bought both s/h for under £200 in virtually unplayed condition. They are my go to gig anywhere workhorses. Great basses for the money.
  17. Cool little venue, played there a few times with my last band, always liked it!
  18. What a menu! Are you sure curried eggs & a room full of bass players is a good idea? 🤔💣💥
