Will you read Morrissey's Penguin Classic in the making?
I count myself as a Mozza fan, but launching this in penguin classics has all the hallmarks of a man who has his head firmly up his own behind. I'm looking forward to picking it up in a car boot for 50p in a few weeks and reading it then.
IMO Penguin have damaged their integrity by publishing this as a "classic". Or are good sports going along with the joke, I can't decide which. -
Very nice. You might even say I'm . . . green!

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=331049624454 Hm, going on about how it hurts my neck doesn't sound like good marketing? I've got the later-style CV P and it's just dandy - or maybe I've just got a superstrong neck? -\ And aren't they nearer £300 than £400?
No, you're thinking of Vivaldi
Le Quattro Stagioni? Some people think it's a bit cheesy. Oh hang on, that's Le Quatto Formaggi.

Just checked Collect+'s T&Cs: We shall not, without specific written agreement, carry works of art, artwork, musical instruments, ceramics, deeds, tender documents, documents of every kind including passports, stamps, securities, vouchers, money, prescribed drugs, precious metals, livestock, liquids, foodstuffs, perishable goods, glass, bullion, coins, precious stones, fossils, stoneware, resin items, amber, composites, valuable jewellery, valuable antiques or plants or plant seeds or derivatives. Interparcel seem OK, but how does one get a full quote? For a guitar I'm selling, they quote their standard service at £11.99 + VAT + insurance (insurance included up to £50), but I can't find insurance info without having to enter all of the recipient's info... which I don't have yet! And as for Parcelforce, they were my first choice until this popped up this morning! http://basschat.co.uk/topic/220301-do-not-use-parcelforce-to-ship-musical-instruments/page__view__findpost__p__2251075

Do not use Parcelforce to ship musical instruments
Oh hell. These threads, and the frequency with which they are appearing, are making me think twice about shipping my Spector (assuming anyone buys it, of course!). I've been lucky with couriers so far, but...
Quite, I packaged up a guitar for a marketplace sale over the weekend - expanded polystyrene, bubblewrap, neck brace, box within a box, the full works, now I'm fearful about it turning to firewood :-( -

Clicked on the bass pic... then clicked next... !!!! -
Mm, some of those Gordon-Smiths are tasty. I too am considering ditching my Strats (one a super-heavy USA, the other a Japanese with OTT locking-nut/floating trem) for a light and simple something - I've been gassing for an Epiphone Dot Studio: not small (335-size) but light and with a shockingly-low price tag.
"Don't think I'd recognise a bass guitar." Said to me Friday by a beautiful woman I tried (and failed) to chat up.
That might have meant, "I would like to learn to recognise a bass guitar, would you please show me the one you keep in your bedroom."
Have to say it was a particularly challenging show last night I always record it so I can fast forward through the stuff I'm not interested in, last night it was most of it. But every now and then I find something I really didn't expect to enjoy so it's worth the effort.
Yep. I used to FFWD it but now I play it as if I've got the radio on. Although sometimes FFWD still becomes necessary -
This could be the start of a new porn thread: Basses on Radiators.
Buffet B12 clarinets are great for metal
I have a Buffet B12! My teacher recommended a mouthpiece upgrade (to a Vandoren) and it was OK except for one thing... when I tried to play in an ensemble, it was naturally sharp. To get it in tune I had to pull the barrel out a little, which led to some nasty squawks :-( So I'd say the Buffet is a great entry-level instrument but check the tuning! Had I taken it further, Yamaha would probably have been my next port of call.
I'm relieved it turned out to be sweat stains. Thought it might have been a NBD over excitement faux pas.
Come again?

A minimalist EUB would be very interesting... but will it be fretless?!

I'm finding Interparcel's website reluctant to tell me whether they collect on Saturdays... do they?
Hi there, Is this still available? Also, what type of hard drive did it have?
Yep, still cluttering up the place The drive was a standard internal 3.5" job (SATA?) In the third photo you can see the empty bays and the dangling power and data connectors - I can get closeups of the connectors over the weekend if you'd like.
No, they went Chopin, with a Liszt; they'll be Bach in a Minuet...
As they left, they called over to a guy in the corner, "Are you Carmen?" He replied, "No, I'm Bizet."

Voted. For me it was between D and E. I was mostly swayed by the lead vocal: most of the other mixes have the vocal too low for my liking - perhaps overwhelmed by the backing vocals? D and E both spotlight the lead: E probably had it at my preferred level, but it came over on the harsh side; also the piano was too low for me. So on balance (ha ha) I went for D, which achieves an attractive blend of lead and backing vocals, and puts the piano and guitar in a good place - especially in the coda with the strings. Splendid work, everyone!
