1. I've paid for setups when there's been anything needing more than a screwdriver and a hex key. The only other bit of gear I have is a set of radius gauges from Stewart MacDonald.
2. Is voting still open? I never got around to revisiting my shortlist
3. Also... I've recently made a couple of trips to Westside (Wunjo's neighbour) and have received good service
4. Getting back on topic: Two bass players walk into a bar... and play two bars of walking bass.
5.
Is that a double stop?
Very good sir, take a bow.
6.
Hope it's not Ivan the Terrible
That's what you get for russian around on stage...
7.
Shouldn't that be 'one two FREE FAW' - or is that too obscure?
Stop clouding the issue...
8. I'm joining the if-hasn't-already-gone queue!
9. This should get you going:
10. Bump/drop. Has to go as I've "downsized" to a parlour guitar. Might trade/part-ex in a deal involving a five-string bass or an SD soundhole pickup.
11. Although it's the first MD album I bought - as it's the you-gotta-hear-this one - I only came to appreciate it after exploring some of the surrounding releases: In a Silent Way, and possibly my favourite (and as far as I know nobody else's!), On the Corner.
12.
was the pub called 'The Cannon' by any chance?
It was... and that explains why they were pointing at the counter.... #coat
13. Welcome. Old guys rock Sadly I'm still young enough to work for the man but it sounds like you're living my dream!
14. Get another Precision! My main fretted bass is a P with flats, and I have another bass with rounds. I'm currently in the early stage of thinning out, so it remains to be seen whether the roundwound survivor is a straight P, P/J or J/J. Probably one of the latter two, as if I want a toppy sound I probably want a bridge PU too.
15. I told my drinking companions about a piece I'd written in which two or more voices sing exactly the same melody (and may continue repeating it indefinitely), but with each voice beginning at different times so that different parts of the melody coincide in the different voices, but nevertheless fit harmoniously together. They just said it was my round.
16. Just the tiniest of dings on the side of the neck - literally the size of a pin-prick - and some tarnished strings to suggest it's not factory-fresh. Otherwise: yum yum! 17. Some might consider that a slur...
18.
that depends how long we can sustain it i guess
How long is a piece for strings?
19.
Word has it that one of the Mods is upset at the standard of puns, has lost his tempo and is about to lock this thread.....if he can find the right key, that is.
Does this breach the rules? It's a mute point. Let's keep it legal though, I don't want to be served with a rit.
20. Now here's something nice for a change. Turning trash into musical instruments. (A bit like MDP in reverse.)
21.
Cheers guys, going to see this tomorrow morning. Bargain!
Nice one. B*st*rd.
22.
the suspense is killing me.
Me too ;-) Just thought I'd spread the pain. (Tonight is play-with-new-toy night!)
23.
We do this in the chicken world, to ensure we can safely transport hens.... You can't send live chickens by couriers We call it a chickens train and it works really well. I've been part of several chicken trains over the years!
So if I ordered a chicken and an egg, which would come first?
24.
And his cousin Ben.
? (Are you confusing him with his collaborator, Alexander Armstrongband?)
25.
They are going to dictate your string gauge, tuning, playing style, action preference etc. to you too?
And yet... isn't that what they do when then ship complete instruments?
