Kasim Sulton
Oh yes, bit of an unsung hero. I instantly thought of Utopia's "Secret Society", "Libertine", etc.
It's 30 pence at railway stations now !
Yes it is. Do keep up http://basschat.co.uk/topic/248545-how-much-should-i-pay-for-a-p/page__view__findpost__p__2595591

Ah yes, I thought there'd be some clever people and some clever software to manipulate these. :-)

So I stayed up too late last night listening to demos and reading reviews, then apparently saved >$800 by spending $248 (£155) on the Vocal and Vocal Signature bundles. Thank you Mr Lowdown for the heads-up. (Well, I think it's a thank you... let's see if I actually use them to good effect! )
-
I've heard great things about this - http://www.waves.com/bundles/signature-series-vocals - very tempting at 80% off!

I see... yes, PT has been described as a virtual tape recorder :-)

Hi, I'm getting further into using a DAW (in my case Pro Tools) for songwriting demos, and I'm puzzled by how I might use audio loops and samples, as I've acquired some huge libraries of these that came bundled with virtual instruments. MIDI loops/clips make complete sense to me: e.g. I can take a MIDI drum loop and tinker with it to create individual fills and other variations. But with an audio (WAV) loop I'm stuck with what I've been given, aren't I? It seems to me that if it's not an exact fit, I'm stuffed. Especially so with melodic and harmonic loops - fine if I want exactly the progression in say a rhythm guitar loop, but not much use otherwise?
I have nothing useful to add, but when I read the subject of the post I thought to myself "depends on how desperate you need to go" Sorry.
You beat me to it (I guess that means I'm stuck in the queue behind you.) Those of us of a certain age will recall that the going rate was 1d. Now, at yer typical railway station, it's up to 30p. Which is 72d!

Sort of... but more on the six-string front. Robert Fripp played a black Les Paul through a pair of Revoxes.... I played a black Avon LP copy through the mic input of my dad's old reel-to-reel machine (until smoke started coming out of it). My first long-scale bass was a blonde Kasuga, whose design bore a slight resemblance to that of another manufacturer (say no more). I expect Chris Squire may have been influential in that, although I was more of a Van der Graaf Generator/King Crimson fan - VdGG didn't actually have a bass player and I had no idea what John Wetton played. After that it was more of a quest for what I liked the feel and sound of.

Hrmph , so my cunning plan to embed a Flickr image didn't work :-( No photoshopping! Both threads (even though one is ancient) had replies at 09:06 this morning so appeared next to each other. Does Paul Daniels know anything about Ibanez Roadstar IIs? Not a lot..
I'm sorry to disagree with the last part. I wouldn't necessarily associate 9/8 with groups of three. The number of beats changes, but there is no implicit 'grouping' going on. There could be, but that wouldn't be a result of the change to 9/8 (nor 6/8...). The time signature changes are simply that; changes to the number of 'beats' in the bar, no more, no less, exactly as if the whole piece had been written with that timing. Just sayin'.
Ooh this is going to get all pedantic semantic... ;-) A time sig doesn't explicitly tell you how many "beats" there are. Conventionally there are 3 beats in a bar of 9/8, each subdivided into three quavers: 3+3+3/8. But in e.g. Dave Brubeck's Blue Rondo a la Turk, there are 4 asymmetric beats: 2+2+2+3/8.
-
Yes, it's saying "the duration of a quaver on the left of the bar line is the same as that on the right of the bar line". The time sig changes, but the quaver pulse doesn't. In contrast you may see a change from 4/4 to 12/8, where both bars have four beats of the same duration, only their division has now changed from 2 quavers (4 x crotchet beats) to 3 quavers (4 x dotted-crotchet beats).

I've seen quite a few of these HOWMUCH??!? buy-it-nows with the best offer option. Perhaps the seller's expecting someone to offer say £750 thinking they're getting a bargain...

And if anyone's wondering what a perfect interval is, it's one that just long enough to get served at the bar *and* finish your drink.
I'd love one of these.
So would I! Definitely one for the "ones that got away" folder, although my shoulders wouldn't be up to gigging with it.
I don't think they made these in 1984 I did own an RS924 which sounded and played great wasn't too light either. I think the roadster became the Roadstar in 1982 or 1983?
Quite likely, I found the photo in a batch from 1984 so assumed that's at least when it was taken. Thinking further (back...), I think I got it around 1981. Further rummaging of band photos may provide further clues!

Scanning some old photos and this pops up: I recall it sounded like a beast and weighed a ton!
Nice to see someone using cf. here on the forum. We don't get enough of that sort of stuff.
I may have used it in some of my posts, q.v.
Maybe that's why Tech21 have never made it into a full bass head - the sheer paradoxity would make it explode* *or implode, I don't know, I'm not a real scientist
So if bass player plays though a Sansamp amp in the forest...

RIP Raphael Ravenscroft (Sax Line on Baker Street)
They say he was only paid £27 for the Baker Street session. Mart
...as one would expect, if that was the MU rate back then. -
The original question was whether the OP should offer transcriptions in both forms. If you want the maximum amount of people to get the benefit from them, then why not?
Space? Anyone looking at just the dots or just the TAB will need to turn the page twice as often as they would otherwise.

Gone. Thankfully, as the G-word was starting to surface...
Remember, tablature is instrument specific...theory is not.
This is the crux of the matter for me. Notation allows you to communicate with other musicians, not just other bass players. So in fact it's TAB that's elitist!
