  1. Another company called Grossman makes them too. For £23. Presumably because they haven’t “innovated” by not using cocobola and other posh woods like Nordy have. And because thy don’t have slots, you cut your own rather than Nordy attempt to make you buy different ones for each bass spacing you have. With 17.5mm to 19mm spacing on my basses I can make 1 with double sets of slots that fits both basses.
  2. I've had several zero fret basses of different makes. Some have little grooves in the zero fret, others have not, but have had tighter actual nuts / string guides. I doubt there is a correct way as such as long as the action is right.
  3. Helix synths are monophonic. At the moment anyway
  4. I'd expect nut width and weight to be in the sales description in the first place. Especially if the nut width is only 36mm for a jazz - that is an unusual feature. By not including those details the OP has wasted the time of the potential buyers, and has actually wasted his own time in not providing the information just once in the advert. Did the OP update the advert with the answers to the questions when they came in? That would be a time saver too.
  5. That's very nice. Do you have an accurate weight please?
  6. I recently decided that the zero-fret was quite a bit high on my TT SL, now it's back from the luthier having been lowered. Much better now. The lower frets are easier to fret. Luthier said that perhaps the zero fret had been missed in the final checks - although it was fully polished.
  7. I might sell my strap. They are not cheap and I don't use it now as I sold the bass I had bought it for. No point in having it sit in a drawer doing nothing.
  8. I made one. It's self adhesive strip foam stuck to an ice lolly stick. It works brilliantly. The mute effect is quite strong so I'm going to experiment with different width of foam. Might even angle it so the D and G have less muting. $40 for a Nordy one can sod off. I've got enough foam and sticks to make about 50 of them for about £10
  9. I've got one that I don't use. It's pretty good but getting a lighter bass was a far better option.
  10. As it says. The official Fender one is too red for me. Something darker would be nice.
  11. I like Bargain Hunt. It's obviously made up and it wouldn't surprise me if the items have been placed in the shops by the production team (just like the US Storage Wars type things) but I don't care. I like seeing the things they "discover."
  12. I got a P bass about 6 weeks ago. 2 weeks ago I bought another one. I was looking for a good Duck Dunn sound. Didn't like them at all with rounds - even for rock / metal. Put on some flats and took it to my big band rehearsal... There it was - that great old Stax / Motown sort of tone. The sort of thing I have hated for decades. But there's no doubt for the music I gig now, it is perfect. I'm still disgusted with myself though. (PS - the Greasebucket circuit is shite. Doesn't get as thumpy as a trad tone control set up. So they will be getting modded).
  13. Thank you!
  14. I liked the look of them too - but that money for a passive P bass? Nah.
  15. Nice. Ive got a bunch of lollipop sticks and want to give this a try. Where did you get the foam from?
  16. Aguilar 60s wind. Superb pickup. Meaty, thick, punchy, and reacts very well to the tone control
  17. Get a jazz neck for it.
  18. The SL models are all matt.
  19. I’ve got one of these. JJ layout. its stunning. Amazing sounding and no back pain!
  20. It's very good. As it happens the PJ-Ray now has flats on it so I tend to use the P pickup alone for my Big Band gig. The Blade has a good sound and is quite bright. In hindsight it might have been better to go for the Warm version instead, but as I've got 2 tone controls on the bass I can knock it back a bit that way. I'd happily have them in other basses.
  21. They've put the P pickup in the wrong way! Send it back!
