1. H'mm,what about an inflatable moderator to put on stage?
2.
If we get wrist bands, are there different colours for "Fakers" and "readers", we can create some government backed 8 page application form to access what level you are
Or have logos like the old Anti nuclear stickers;"16th notes? No thanks" I'm going for one that says"You hum it and I'll Google up the Tab".
3. The ultimate Marmite bass! Fugly or Luverly? I think that is the best colour I've seen in years, well done Shockwave.
4. Nobody in my(limited)sphere of aquaintences would buy one of these. Then again, nobody I know would buy any food more exotic than a Pot Noodle,or any beer other than Stella. Some people have called me a Phillistine, but they would'nt spell it for me or tell me what it meant
5. I fake, therefore I am(a bass player,or a player of ANY instrument). Just keep playing.Try different genres of music.Use different techniques. Accept that you play YOUR way. Get other band members to suggest bass lines to their songs. Above all, keep an open mind, that way you will always keep learning. And never underestimate the power of Root and Fifth;it's got me out of many a sticky situation!
6. I've played covers and originals as a faker of 25 years. With covers, you have to learn someone elses lines, but the joy of original material is that you are free to put together the best bits of other peoples work and present it as brand new . Seriously though, every thing we play has probably been played before. We learn to be original by copying and then reassembling what we have learnt. Learn some music theory, however basic, know your limitations, and then try to exceed them. Above all,DO NOT GIVE UP PLAYING BASS!
7. 1st bass;Marlin Sidewinder. Go to bass;my Status Groove. Your bass;Hohner headless Steinberger-type.
8. I had a JJ bass;absolutely great sound,and I miss it still
9. I'm 5'7" and I've got small hands, and I also used to own a $$. I never had any problems with my fretting hand with that bass, and I actually like the profile on a Warwick. Try altering the strap height and perhaps your fretting technique as the others have said. My left shoulder used to ache with the $$ though;it's a heavy bugger!
10. Hi,I am in Orchid Thieves,a 6 piece from Surrey and Sussex, playing original material. We have been likened to Fleetwood Mac crossed with Moloko( ). After a 12 month break(our singer had her first child last year)we are back rehearsing and writing. Please check us out via the links below,or on i-tunes and Facebook.
11. Truckstop, if you use Nitromors, please remember to 'neutralize'it once you have stripped it off. This means wipping the body with either white spirit or water. If you don't,the chemical residue in the body will prevent any finish you apply from taking to the wood. Apologies if I'm teaching Granny to suck eggs.
12.
I really like the look of the amber maple VMP, very nice indeed....certainly looks the part....they are always dearer than the painted version though by £40 ish ....Good basses these Squiers, my VMJ is still as new, even though it's put a lot of hours in at the hand of a learner and plays very well if that helps?
I fancy one of these, but I'd put a MM in the bridge position.
This is the link to an amp tech that I've heard is pretty good and he's in Godalming. www.stevesamps.co.uk [email protected]
I've used him,as has the guitarist in the band. He's very good, and a nice guy.I would'nt hesitate to recommend him.

Bloody things!

Well, the cab has a new panel on the back, which has solved 95% of the rattles. The other 5% is caused by the hole for the tweeter being cut too large by the manufacturer. As the tweeter is now disconected, this will be removed and blanked off at a later date. The amp is behaving ok.I am going to avoid placing it on top of the amp as it could be that the vibrations from the cab caused the ribbon leads inside the amp to come loose. The moral of this tale?Buy a Hartke rig!
15.
For my first bass i bought an Encore PK-20 p bass, brand new on ebay for £60. Now im upgrading and cant decide what bass to get. Should i get the Chase for £130? Squier jazz for £150? Or the Westfield MM for £160?
I've tried the Stagg version of the Chase bass. Its got quite a chunky neck, but that aside,I thought it was a good instrument for the money.
16. I'm down to one bass, but I may sell that and just keep a set of strings! Dead minimalist, like
17.
Our singer did a gig last month after having a colonoscopy 2hrs before going on stage. He couldn't stand upright so we propped him on a stool with a cushion and he had to wear a grown up nappy to catch leakages.
I have just had hysterics reading this, only to have my 3 year old son ask me what was so funny....."Wait until your older, son".
18. Buy the Groove on E-bay.I've owned one for years and nothing else come close for comfort or tone.
19. There seems to be enough relief on the neck.I can't see any point where a string is touching a fret and buzzing. I might have to put it down to my hearing aid picking up an earth hum!
20. I should mention that it only happens on fretted notes, and never happened before using the Elixirs. I don't belive that the truss rod is loose, and the nut looks fine. The saddles have no springs on them, and I use Dentigrip!Could it be sympathetic vibrations from my replacement hip?Or my zimmer frame rattling?
21. When I had Elixir strings on my Status,I noticed a rattle the E string when played acoustically. Now I have changed back to Elites it is still there. Noting transfers when amped up,but it's really annoying. I've checked a few other threads on this sort of thing, and so far I have checked the truss rod, tightened it slightly, made sure that the break angle of the string is OK,checked the pickup screws and made sure the saddle screws are in contact with the plate. Any solutions?

Bloody things!
I know its no consolation but my MB SA450 has done well over 150 long gigs without any issues. I also have a LMII that i used occasionally with my other band over the past 3 years and again, no issues. Not wanting to sound too cheeky but im selling my LMII head if you do want one, although by the sounds of it you wont want to touch another LMII.
Once bitten etc.I'm coming to the firm opinion that the only good this to come out of Italy is espresso.
23. Time to start a Green Bass thread....?
I must admit I would have contacted both Zoot (Purple Chili) and Markbass about these problems. Although out of warranty they are not out of reasonable duty. You might have had to pay something but I bet they would have helped fix things. If the new control panel works then you have a great cab, surely Markbass might be able to help out with the amp. In which case you get to keep your first choice (and very nice) gear.
I see your point, but I have noticed from other threads about faulty MB gear that the average price for repairs(IIRC)is £200.Thats about 75% of the value of a new head. At the moment I feel rather unsure of MB gear in general.Owning this head is like owning a crap car;will it start, will it stop, etc. I belive the cab can be fixed, which would be great as it has a sound I like.
