  1. Who’s Next on Sky arts right now
  2. That looks great Andertons are showing 10 in stock for the package
  3. That looks good, and portable.
  4. Yes it’s a Behringer USB interface so should work with both. It also means that when using as a practice headphone device you get the pure sound of your bass while playing along to tracks on your pc if required. Which is nice. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Behringer-UMC22-Computer-Audio-Interface/dp/B00FFIGZF6/ref=asc_df_B00FFIGZF6/?tag=googshopuk-21&linkCode=df0&hvadid=310822982624&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=11334457621489608738&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=m&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=1007041&hvtargid=pla-406164524073&psc=1&th=1&psc=1 they do a slightly cheaper one but for the sake of a few quid this one is much better.
  5. I’ve got through a couple of Amplugs too. I’ve just resoldered the headphone socket on mine, so now I just use this plugged into my Mac, which I originally bought for about 30 quid for recording.
  6. I can highly recommend Aldi’s rum & raisin chocolate. It’s my favourite fruit.
  7. I can’t remember if it was Guy Pratt or another celeb bassist who lost the will to live and gave up on Basschat after a previously heated debate on here about compressors. I recall several weekend warriors telling a pro at the top of his game that he was doing it wrong. Why is the use of an effects pedal so contentious? perhap we should stick to less controversial issues like religion, politics or pick V fingers.
  8. That’s pretty much why I like my Spectracomp pedal. Usually on the default setting with the knob between a quarter and halfway up. I kind of understand compression and the parameters, using the stock compression plugins on Logic Pro extensively, but I’ve never felt the need to faff around with these on my Spectracomp when playing.
  9. That looks pretty good. Depending on your budget and how this auction goes I’d also recommend the Squier VM Jazz fretless if you can find a s/h one
  10. Love Lee Sklar’s videos Check out his play alongs with James Taylor snd Carol King. Perfect examples of playing to serve the song.
  11. Jedson Telecaster. My first bass too. ca 1977 also £30 from Wing music in Bromley. They told me it was an Arbiter when I bought it. Brought it home on the bus with no case or bag.
  12. Dr John at Cambridge Corn Exchange. Probably mid or late ‘90s. He was probably great but the sound was so shite that we gave up and sat in the bar. It sounded marginally better but was so disappointing.
  13. I hummed and haah’d over of those too. Very nice But didn’t buy it though
  14. They are a good weight. the only changes I made were a set of DR fat beams strings and replaced the Mexican pots with a lovely new wiring loom supplied by Kiogon on here.
  15. I have one of these. Great aren’t they ?
  16. Love it it was a bit of a punt on EBay about ten years ago. It had been stripped of the lurid blue sunburst colour and oil finished so could potentially have been a a bit rough but was nicely done. It was a bargain as there were no other bidders. The only issues I had are the stacked pots were a bit knackered and hard to find to replace. I managed to change 1 of them. Peavey US sent me the last one on the planet I think but one of the tags had snapped off. It all works ok though. Have been think of swapping out the preamp for a while but I like the sound as is , despite the dodgy pots.
  17. I have one of these. It was an EBay bargain. Heavy but a great bass.
  18. Try DR lo rider nickel wound
  19. I photographed this tour at Wembley https://www.gettyimages.dk/detail/news-photo/photo-of-david-bowie-performing-live-onstage-on-glass-news-photo/84899816
  20. I had a Kay precision copy in the mid ‘70s. it weighed a ton but after I changed the bridge and upgraded it with a cheap jazz bass copy neck it wasn’t too bad. Scroll forward to the mid’90s and I traded it for some lessons from a guitar teacher who was also a brilliant luthier. He de-fretted it, stripped off the varnish, added a decent pickup and drilled some big holes in it to reduce the weight. It became a really nice bass. It started life looking like this one.
  21. And you get somewhere convenient to rest your thumb
  22. I love my Spectracomp. Tend to just use the default and occasionally a couple of the presets. Works just fine for me and haven’t done anymore than just briefly look at the tone editing page on my Mac and left immediately
  23. I had those on my FSR mex precision. They are really nice on there too. These I think: https://www.stringsdirect.co.uk/strings-c1/string-sets-c865/bass-guitar-c34/fender-super-bass-7250m-nickel-plated-steel-bass-guitar-strings-45-105-long-scale-p928
