1.
Bedroom players forming bedroom bands and playing bedroom gigs to millions of bedroom fans. All a bit weird but it could happen one day.
Let's just hope that they only stream audio...
  2. Well the 210 TP is a current production model that retails for just over the £100 mark. The HA2000 is no longer made, but the HA2500 is just over the £200 mark. Given the age, if they're clean and in good working condition then something around the £150 mark seems like a pretty fair price. HTH
  3. I keep one of these over at the rehearsal space. It was originally part of my gigging rig and must be well over 10 years old by now. It's a well built, no frills cab and has never let me down. The only thing I could pick fault with is that it's jack connection only, Speakons would have been nicer.
  4.
...a house full of expensive discarded compromises...

I've got one of those.
I just divorce mine...
  5. That's a tough one. My response would historically have always been 'yes', but the last time I said that I was told I was wrong. There's a discussion about it here: http://basschat.co.uk/topic/198402-intonation-not-right/page__p__1960078__hl__bridge%20intonation%20position__fromsearch__1#entry1960078
  6. Measure the distance between the nut and the 12th fret. The bridge saddles need to be positioned so that the distance between them and the 12th fret matches that first measurement. In other words, the 12th fret needs to be the centre point between the nut and the bridge saddles.
  7. And that's where we're going to leave it.
  8.
Aye, oop in yerkshire thee boils thar strings, doesn't thow?
They do it down here as well. It's called making soup...

  10. How about going low tech and putting a strip of appropriately coloured insulating tape over the poles?
  11.
How would we tell the difference?
I did grin when I was typing that sentence.
  12.
I had been following the thread, at the time, and can confirm that there may have been grounds for protecting BC in some posts by members. I also feel that total deletion is not the best solution (although much easier than others, I'll allow...). Deletion of individual phrases or posts, replacing them with an explanation, would be more satisfactory, I would suggest. More time spent, but better than re-writing history (by deleting any and all in one swoop...). I'm a mod on another forum, and can understand the time and effort that goes into the admin and mod roles. I also would suggest that there is a deontology which goes with the role. Just my opinion, no malice intended.
I believe the thread in question is already being looked at to see if we can do that. The problem with an exercise like this is that it can make a conversational thread totally nonsensical with deleted quotes littered all over the place. EDIT: Answer above.
  13. Free speech is all well and good if the individual exercising that right is in the firing line of the litigation that some companies employ. The problem is that, when it comes to this litigation, a 'forum' is a much easier target to go for than 'MegaSexBass' from 'UK'.
  14. Right. I haven't been following that particular thread closely, but it appears that it has been removed due to our liability under current defamation laws and the previous conversations that we've had with Ernie Ball.
  15. Can you not just slide a little 'spacer' under the socket, so it sits up slightly while you solder it, and then just remove it once you're finished?

    I didn't see anything...
  17.
And if anybody's wondering, yes I am doing it just to be difficult.
In which case, I very much doubt that we'll give you the answer that you want to hear.
  18. I do quite a few of these, they're good places to make contacts and I've had a reasonable bit of work come my way from them over the years. There aren't any hard and fast rules as to whether electric instruments are accepted or not so ringing the organiser before turning up to see how they feel about it is the best bet. I keep my kit as low key/in keeping as possible. The other thing I do is to get there early so I can get my amp on stage before everything kicks off. As far as amplification is concerned, I use an amp and a 2x10 cab (both tucked out of the way). That's far bigger than I actually need, but it's the smallest combination I have at the moment. I don't think you'll get away with a 15W amp if you're competing against a guitarist, singer and a PA system though.
  19. I don't mean this to sound harsh, but the band will probably already be trying to update their promo materials to remove you from it and include your replacement. My gut reaction is that there is little point in pushing this as it's not going to make it happen any faster.
  20. Spot on diagnosis method there. I've had about half a dozen Hartke amps apart over the last couple of years and all bar one of them had dry joint issues. My understanding is that there were several batches of amps that suffered from poor soldering but the QC issue was resolved pretty quickly.
  21. It's a software glitch related to the new Marketplace system. The code that populates the 'Latest Updates' pane on the right hand side is showing topics that have been 'abandoned' or uncompleted. You're not missing anything.
  22.
I found it sad to read from teenagers who have no money talking dismissively about their "crap Squier" (that they saved up for, or their parents bought them), just to fit in with the group... It's even sadder that some might feel... I don't know, embarrased even about using a Squier and a Behringer. That is sad.
It is sad, but it's really one of those things that's quite common, and not just in the context of musical instruments. Although I readily accept it's a bit of a generalisation, I tend to think of it as trying to 'fit in' with a peer group whilst you form, develop and mature your own personality.
  23.
People love me cos I have a frizbee
24. Well I'm going to go down a slightly different route. It seems pretty obvious to me that the course of action most likely to provide the best chance of not investing in another unsuitable bass would be to get the underlying health issues out of the way. Until that's sorted out I have a terrible vision of a house full of expensive discarded compromises...
  25.
I can imagine!
I tried to but kept getting a fit of giggles when I got to the part with the elephants...
