It always tickles me when people slag these sort of shows off. If there's something on telly that you're not enjoying then turning it off (or over) would surely be the sensible thing to do? Of course, if you're intentionally looking for something to grizzle about, watching the whole thing in abject misery will do the job nicely. I'm sure you can get yourselves nice and wound up by the time it finishes. It just doesn't sound like a very healthy option to me.

It's a bit of an obscure configuration and I don't recall seeing anyone offering them as a standard 'off the shelf' product. Best bet would be to drop OBBM ( http://basschat.co.uk/user/12-obbm/) a PM - I'm sure he can make some up for you.

Hi and Lo inputs on amps- what's the actual difference
You've never owned a Spector, have you?
No, but I've seen them getting beaten up by James Bond. I presume they have a much hotter output than anything I've owned to date? -
Not back from here. Same yesterday. Hope it's nothing to do with the Fender In Trouble thread. Massive downsize...? Website updates don't usually take 2 days or more.
It's partially working. It's harder to achieve that than it is to just pull the site, so I doubt it's anything more ominous than a website upgrade that's gone wrong and they either don't know or, more likely, the man who can fix it is away for the holiday season.

Easy. 1) Click on you name at the top RH side of the screen. 2) A dropdown menu appears - select 'My Settings'. 3) A new screen appears - look at the LH side of the page and select 'Notification Options'. I think the option you want is to uncheck the first box (Auto follow topics I reply to).

I've been using SR505's (the 5 string version of the SR500) for... must be around 20 years. I'm actually on my second one now. It usually gets gigged at least once a week and has done more studio sessions than any other bass I've ever owned (and I've owned a few over the last 35 years). If you particularly want to experiment then an SR300 is a reasonable choice, although you may struggle to find parts to fit easily. If you want a bass that will stand the test of time and cope with the rigours of heavy use, then go for the SR500. Whatever you do though, try at least one of the SR series before you buy. They all have really slim necks and if you have big hands you might not get on with it.

Nice one. Yet again, you had the chance of learning some stuff from one of the top industry players, some of it might have been relevant to you, some of it might not have been. But hey, let's not worry about it - self professed experts are two a penny so why would anyone actually want to listen to what a professional bassist has to say?
Volvo V70 estate. Boringly reliable and stupidly big.
+1 I've been driving one of these for a couple of years now and can carry an absolutely ridiculous amount of kit if I need to.
I think the main problem I have is that quite often I'm only about 1ft away from my cab , It's not so much volume it's not enough space for the sound wave to form , when I do a sound check it sounds great on the dance floor, Going through the PA Helps but it just can't get the same sound that the barefaced cab can , Yes I think I have been too loud trying to hear myself when it's just making it worse . I need to experiment with the band posistioning , just a couple ft would make a difference .
I fell for that many years ago and vowed 'never again'. Didn't stop me getting caught two weeks ago though. I had no space to move forwards and spent the entire night struggling to hear what I was doing. Totally my fault as I got to the setup last.

Does anyone actually use the 'Lo' socket? I think every amp I've owned over the last 35 years has had a 'lo' socket and I've never bothered with it. -
I rarely find the need to even touch my tone controls, but I did have to when I first got the bass to get the default sound I wanted.
As far as buss is concerned, I think Desmond makes the best cemprassors on the market.
Oh I don't know...

Bill Nash P J bass problem, help please!!!
icastle replied to big rob's topic in Repairs and Technical
I very much doubt that the switch cleaner suddenly made the front pup come to life, I think it's more likely that there's a loose connection in there somewhere and you managed to 'disturb it' back into place when you used the cleaner. If it's under warranty then the best thing to do would be to return it. If it's not then my inclination would be to recheck the cabling again and give it a bit of a 'wiggle' whilst monitoring the output. HTH -
(I don't know if MarkNS4 (or Mark McMillan) is now registrated under another name, in that case: Mark, I have some -bad- words to tell you, English is not my first language, but I reckon you'll understand...you can always contact me!)
I've had a good dig about using some tracking tools and I'm pretty well convinced that he's not opened up a new account. Your English is just fine.
my seller even wrote me that the package was insured... Told me a couple of times that the money would be refunded and.... then disappeared...
I totally missed this at the time. It's not much consolation and it's very late in the day, but his account is now toast.
I don't have a probem with the return key, most of the keys just won't register when I'm typing it's weird!
You're an IE11 user - it applies to all the keys.

Welcome to BassChat. Let me know what username you want and I'll get that arranged for you. The typing problem is well known - there's a workaround for that described here: http://basschat.co.uk/topic/231036-why-doesnt-my-enter-key-work/ HTH
I had a similar experience of this in my pre-basschat days, I was selling some stuff on ebay and I was sent an ebay email from someone making an effort to, "come across as a youngster who really needed the item that I had" and then 'was struggling to get the funds, could I do a deal on the price?" - We came to an arrangement and he paid, I later found out, before I'd actually sold it to him; he had listed it on here, yes for more than I sold it to him. He list stuff fairly often - I often wonder if there's a similar back story
This is an easy one with absolutely no 'grey area' or compromise. Only items that are owned by and in the possession of the member can be advertised for sale or trade. If anyone thinks that rules being broken then hit the 'Report' button or send a PM to any Mod. We take an extremely dim view of people trying to con our members and never reveal our sources.
-
You're not allowed to sell them on if you're benefiting commercially but this doesn't apply to a normal private sale. If the seller misrepresents the the item, for instance by failing to point out that a guitar marked 'Gibson' isn't what it says on the headstock then that would fall foul of the law. It's very different for business sellers - even if it's run as a little sideline money earner - but then the 'for sale' forums aren't supposed to be for any using them for that purpose.
Not forgetting, of course, that we reserve the right to remove adverts that are illegal or fraudulent.

Right, here's a solution for you. If you e-Mail with the photo and make sure you quote your username, one of the Admins will add it for you manually. HTH
I am not sure double strokes on a pick would do it so well ...but the tempo is slow enough that you could do singles, and so that could also apply with a single finger.
That's fine - it's about using appropriate technique and if it just needs one finger then that's what I'll use. I don't put up scaffolding and use a safety harness to change a lightbulb.

Oh dear. That sounds like an issue with your computer more than the site. Leave it with me for a while and I'll see if there's anything we can do from this end.
There was a Chibson (counterfeit Chinese Gibson) for sale on here a couple of weeks back, and as I understand it, under the law, it should not have been for sale. I didn't point it out to the Mods, I get in enough trouble without trying
There are thousands of adverts on here and, with the best will in the world, we probably won't spot every single fake or con on here. This forum is here for all of us regardless of whether we're Mods or Members, so let's join forces and make sure it stays a forum worth having. If you see a fake or a con, or even think it might be, just click on the 'Report' button or drop me a PM if you don't want to click the button. We look at each report on a case by case basis and we NEVER reveal where the report has come from. Lets all work together on this.

It looks, to me, like an eBay site concentrating on stores only - so I guess you're at the mercy of whichever store you buy from. Looking at the prices and the fact that the logos are mostly obscured, there do seem to be a high percentage of obvious forgeries. If it was me, I wouldn't be sending my money all the way to China on the off chance that a fake bass might be vaguely playable, if it actually turned up.
