Matt edit - I have no idea why it's showing that particular image as a preview, It bears no relation to my new bass!

such great attention to detail! the anticipation is really building here. (i quite like the idea of binding on a control cover) Matt -
Budget IEM systems - looking for recommendations!

what kit are you currently using? is it wired or wireless? you might just need an adaptor or maybe a custom cable depending on the kit you are using. matt -
having browsed through the rest of the website it seems like they've got a little bit of experience with carbon fibre necks, the acoustics all seem to have electric style bolt on necks so the bass necks and the electric necks aren't going to be a big leap. I'd expect the electrics and the hardware to be fairly standard no-name stuff, and the pickups will probably be re-branded generic chinese ones. they charge an extra 50 dollars if you want any colour other than white as well. They offer a pro version as well which is a significant step up in price (although it comes with Fishman fluence pickups and no-extra cost colour options). I am surprised that they haven't offered a 5 string option, but i guess if they sell enough of the 4's they might offer one at a later date. I'll keep an eye on them, might be a decent base for modding if a used or ex-demo one pops up, i'm sure there will be some reviews as soon as the first basses are available. Matt

wow! your scrapbox is way better supplied than mine, what are the secondary windings on those? I had a really good search back in about august when it died and was willing to send it back to Cyrus for repair but they didn't have any transformers left at all. Matt
-
the dimensions for that kind of socket are usually given for the holes in the pcb, from the photo you have posted it looks like the measurements you gave might be backwards? it looks wider than it is long. another measurement to check is from the end of the threaded part to the first set of pins, this needs to be right so that the board goes back in the chassis correctly. Have you asked marshall as well? They might have some transformers on the shelf from when they owned eden
-
From experience i think a separate step down transformer is the easiest option if Eden/Marshall cannot sell you the correct transformer. I spent some time last year trying to buy a replacement for a blown transformer for my Cyrus Hifi amp, (2 sets of secondary windings, toroidal transformer), Cyrus didn't have any left and i spent a couple of days hunting for the correct spec, in the end i bought a new amp instead. if you get a step down transformer that is housed in a box you could mount the whole lot in a rack case and that way you'd never turn up at the gig without the step down transformer. WOW! the wood is really coming to life, the knob position looks pretty good where they sit now, Matt -
it looks like there are 3 sets of windings on that transformer, 63.2v-0-63.2v 0-11v and 17v-0-17v if that's the case then RS won't be much help, that's a fairly unique transformer so you will either need to have it wound to order or find the correct UK eden one. Matt

you should be fine as long as your power adaptor can supply enough current, remember that only tuner pedals have 2 power sockets so you will need a daisychain or a splitter cable. by my calculations the max power draw that those 3 pedals will need is 110mA with the tuner in high brightness mode, that's not a huge amount so unless your psu is very weedy you will be fine. I have the ryobi version of the one you posted and it's not really much use for drilling, for fine work (under about 2mm) I use a pin vice drill, if the bit is sharp it will take very little effort to make the hole. I have one just like this Link Matt

There are 2 different connectors that ehx have used over the years, the original ones were 3.5mm jack plugs, but most of the more recent pedals use the same barrel connector and polarity as boss et Al, the bass clone is barrel connector (have one on my board.) Matt

i finally had a chance to dig out my pedalboard and try and get a measurement for the latency of my G50 I think it's 3ms? sounds reasonable , this was done in the confines of my study though so the transmitter and receiver were inches apart (i can't really be much further away in here) i was using a radial passive Di box as the splitter, with the pass through going to the g50 and the DI output going to the interface (scarlett 2i4) Matt

if it were me i would cut the plug off, shorten the cable a fair bit, and then solder on new connectors with the right polarity, it could be done with screw terminal connector blocks if soldering wasn't possible (I have done this in the past when i ran out of new plugs and needed a board finishing, it worked well enough that i didn't bother to rewire it when the plugs arrived) CPC have 12v 5A power supplies at very low prices, 12V, 5A, 60W, Desktop Power Supply, IEC C14, 2.1mm Plug (farnell.com) Matt

a laptop style 12v supply with a splitter and a 12v to 9v supply would work, and should be slim enough to hide under a board, something like this would work well? - Fame LEF-329 Mini Power | DV247 | en-GB Matt

Ever highly customised a valuable bass (and ruined it's "Value")?
Matt P replied to BadHands's topic in Repairs and Technical
which Luthiers have you tried? I would suggest contacting @Andyjr1515 as you might find that he can build you the bass of your dreams for less than you would imagine, my bass is being built to a sketch i made on the back of an envelope (well it was a bit of A4 i pilfered from the printer at work but it could just as easily been an envelope) you might have to wait a few months before it's started but if you browse the build threads you will find many beautiful basses made by his fair hands and to a wide variety of unusual and adventurous designs Matt -

but they would cover up that lovely grain! -
i'm running a G50, i had a g30 before that, only swapped as the g50 was available in the classifieds very cheap and a friend was asking if he could buy the G30. I tried a smoothhound and didn't get on with it, didn't seem worth contacting the maker as it was only on loan from a friend for a weekend. If i get a chance i'll see if i can get a latency measurement for the g50 at the weekend. matt

i think this would be a question for @Ashdown Engineering but a quick google seems to show that the Fs-2 uses a 3 pole plug (quite usual for a 2 button footswitch) whilst the FS-4 uses a 2 pole plug and some circuitry in the footswitch casing so i'd expect that the Fs-2 won't work if the amp is expecting the fs-4. matt

I'd have to lose a few frets to make space and probably sell a kidney to fund the pickup bill! -
