1. Great basses. Only downside for me is the weight - it's difficult to find a light(-ish) one... I'm still looking!
2. In: 1989 MM SR4 Nordy vM5 Out: Lakland US JO4
3. Seems to have disappeared from the website... Sold already?
4.
if you knew anything about vintage fenders you would know it's not an original.
I thought I did but it's not enough obviously. Must buy more of them.
5. If he puts a date of manufacture in the pickup cavity, I do apologize.
6. Or you could say, it's a fake, depending on your perspective. The guy is obviously very skilled, and I don't think he's out to fool anyone but it doesn't seem to stop with the external features. IIRC, I've seen one of his creations, a 'replica' of a 60s Jazz, which had an authentic looking neck stamp. There's potential for deception, whether intended or not, once an instrument has changed hands a few times over the years. It's a Bravewood, not a Fender, and should be clearly labelled as such.
7. So why is there a Fender decal on the headstock?
8. USPS? Isn't the current owner in Holland?
9. Nice. What's the bridge on this one - threaded saddles or single groove?
10.
I had no intention of keeping it as I love the maple neck and the look of my heavier teal one, not sure what to do now, if they were Fender's I'd just swap the necks over but I have the feeling that would knock value off of both of them as it's not something people do with MM basses, hmmm.....
You're right. Keep them original!
11. Sub 9 lbs is indeed rare in a SR5. PM me if you ever want to sell that one!
12. Photos of the preamp, pots and pickup cavity would help indeed.
13. Nice. What happened to the thumb rest?
14. They look great - go for it! (But try and find a light-ish one!)
15. Nice. What year is this? What's the weight?
16. What year? Weight?
17. Not entirely sure going by the photos but this colour could be Metalflake Green.
18. What year is your SR5? What's the weight? Maple or rosewood?
19. Where did you find an 8 lbs SR5?
20. I have a 5 HSS. Maple neck. Quilt top. Early version, no string retainer. Nice weight for an EB MM 5-string - around 9 lbs. Haven't used it much though. Still prefer the simpler set-up of a SR5. If only those weren't so heavy! Could be tempted to part with the 25th. PM me if you're interested.
21. What's the weight?
22. Looks great. What's the weight?
