You'd be amazed at the amount of times I encountered this - hotels having functions were the main culprits.

Andrew Bodnar (superb bassist with Graham Parker and the Rumour and played for Elvis Costello / the Pretenders / Nick Lowe etc ) works in a library in deepest North Yorkshire. His playing on 'Watching the Detectives' was just amazing.

One of the guys involved in Star Trekking is a bit of a legend round here, lovely bloke called Dave Tenney. Very clever musician and a great guitarist, been a pro most of his life. He wrote the song along with Tony Thorpe, ex Rubettes and himself a top player. Think they were both surprised at the success of the song. Watching an old TOTP recently, saw their band The Firm doing the follow up 'Arthur Daley he's alright'. Both dire hits IMO, but hope they made some money out of them.....

Donald Fagen, The Nightfly. Think I'm the only muso ever who doesn't like this. Those irritating 'clever' songs played so perfectly with no soul/feel. Liked early Steely Dan stuff, but then it all ended up sounding like this.

Great amps though, and a cracking deal. Hartke do seem to suffer pricewise s/h a bit, and can't understand why. Generally reliable and well made, lots of tone shaping and loud as f*ck, can't see what's no to like.I've had both versions of the 3500, and they were just spot on. For years myself and I suspect lots of others thought they were made in USA, which I believe only very early ones were?

Just watched an old TOTP from 1983. Great song by The Maisonettes on, 'Heartache Avenue'. Sort of poppy motownish tune with a great middle section / descending bassline. Hadn't heard it in years.
