  1. John Mc Vie. Always melodic and in the pocket, and quite happy to stand at the back.
  2. I would have to agree with Jaco. Its just a lot of notes played very fast in my opinion.
  3. Oddly enough, Its the opposite with me. Both our guitarists are always asking me for help in working out the chords and licks etc. And none of them play bass so my job is safe at the moment.
  4. I have the blue one. It only cost £77 back in March. Played great out of the box with little or no tweaking.
  5. Had one of the first electric bass solos with Nivram IIRC. I had to learn Apache years ago for a wedding. There's a lot more going on in the bass department than I realised.
  6. This old P Bass bitsa I made about 10 years ago from an old Squier MIK body and various bits and peices. The SPB1 Pickup gives it an old school thump that I love and cant get from newer more expensive basses.
  7. Yes thats why I love Teles and Precisions too. Simple plug in and play guitars. Just two knobs to get a geat sound out of either.
  8. I bought this Harley Benton Tele early in the year for £77. They really are excellent value for the money!
  9. Good idea. A new set of strings and a little setup can work wonders, and breathe new life into your bass.
  10. 45 - 105 are the standard bass gauge. Your nut should be fine. Can I ask whats wrong with the factory fitted strings?

    Loopers

I just picked up one of these. A lot cheaper but great for the price.
  12. Just stumbled across this video by this young whippersnapper about the piano used at Trident Studios in London during the 60's 70's and 80's. I would have never in a million years guessed that all these songs were recorded on this one piano!
  13. You want payment for these yet Ped??
  14. I havent used the support system, but I can make up a lot of old tosh about how great you all are. If I can have a free T shirt.
  15. I have a tweed gear 4 music Fender faker and Thoman black with white piping faker that came with my Limelight. You cant tell the difference fom a distance.
  16. My old band used to do Girl On The Phone and Heatwave from Setting Sons. GOTP was great fun to play with the B minor climbing to the D. I wish I had thought of it! There was another song from that era called Turning Japanese that was fun to play too, but I cant remember who did it.
  17. Just stumbled upon this fella doing a bass cover of this Fleetwood Mac song. Made me appreciate John Mc Vie even more!
  18. Anybody had any experience with Artist Guitars? They look a bit cheap to me. Like entry level Encores. Maybe they are another Harley Benton and might surprise me. However, everything seems to be sold out on the website. https://www.artistguitars.co.uk/collections/bass-guitars
  19. Yes please. The basschat polo shirt I bought a few years back dont fit me anymore, so I need cheering up.
  20. The Harley Benton range from Thomann are an excellent starting point.
  21. Gerry McAvoy - Rory Gallagher, Live In Europe. He joined Nine Below Zero in later years. Good player.
