  1. I always wanted to drive the London Underground tube train that I used to travel to school on. Back in those days (The mid to late 80's) they couldn't recruit enough staff because of the unsociable hours etc. Most young lads my age would rather be out clubbing at midnight on a weekend than working. I applied for a job and got one as a train guard and was a fully qualified tube driver within 18 months. The whole thing changed when they abolished the Guards job and left the driver on his own. We did get a wage rise though. I did 34 years on it and took early retirement a few months ago in April. So I did get my dream job in a way. 😊
  2. 🤣🤣 Of course it wasn't. There's no money above the fifth fret!
  3. Nice friendly bloke. Bought my Limelight P bass and paid in full immediately. Good comms and will def deal with him again.
  4. I dont use it myself. I gather it is most prevalent in mixing to keep things smooth. A good example of overuse of compression, is the stereo version of The Beatles Revolution, where the drums are squashed into a compressed ball in the left channel.
  5. A P bass and a ripped speaker cone. Stranglers bass heaven 😁
  6. The transit van of the bass world - The Fender Precision.
  7. Pretty Green by The Jam. That only had one note for the first few bars. This was quickly followed by Tomorrow never Knows, by The Beatles. That also only had er.... one note
  8. Fleetwood Mac are a parody of themselves these days. After sacking their talented guitarist/frontman and filling his shoes with the Crowded Heartbreakers I lost all respect for them.
  9. I suppose because they had the rhythm instruments all recorded together on 1 track of the 4 track tape, if you wanted to boost a frequency, you would boost everything on that track. Boosting low end of the bass guitar would also boost the kick drum etc.
  10. The stereo versions of most Beatles albums are considered inferior to the mono versions. If anything, the stereo versions are 'defective'.
  11. Coming soon. I,m looking forward to hearing how that sounds. https://www.thebeatles.com/announcing-revolver-special-editions-news
  12. Its based on a 1963 Precision. I believe they had a 7.25 radius with a 43mm nut width. It is quite a chunky neck.
  13. Having just taken early retirement, I'm having to thin the herd. So here is my 1963 Limelight I ordered in 2019. It hasnt been played much due to Covid hitting shortly after I bought it. £850 posted in hard supplied case. Here are the specs: Faded Sonic Blue Hand rolled finger board Clay dots Light relic Rosewood P width neck Mint Green scratchplate Period correct 1960’s Fender Precision logo Thumb rest below strings. All metal work just lightly tarnished Reverse Gotoh Tuners Strap button on reverse of headstock Rotosound flatwounds https://classicandcoolguitars.co.uk/portfolio/limelight-custom-00230
  14. I better call the bloke from Radio Rentals round. My telly sound has gone wonky!
  15. Alive by Pearl Jam has popped in my head today. I dont mind, its a good song.
  16. It seems that the DVD/Bluray box set has been delayed indefinitely
  17. Nigel Harrisons solo in Atomic. Just an E minor pentatonic really, but I love it.
