1. I play in two bands, one is a cheesy cabaret band playing Sinatra through to The Mavericks, whereas the other band is a hard rocking covers band from AC/DC to Lenny Kravitz. A complete opposite situation!
2. I agree with the AC/DC bass parts though. We do a cover of 'Overdose' from the 'Let There Be Rock' album, and I must admit that 6 minutes of dum a dum a dum a dum can get a bit boring. Although a driving root note chug is all thats required, I like to put a few little tricks of my own to keep me amused.
3. I try to get it as close as I can, but I dont bother with note for note copy as this depends on the drummer playing exactly the same part too. This can result in some nasty clashes
4. Oh Dear! I cant make up my mind now between the Red/maple and the oly white r/w. I didnt expect this to be such a hard decision to make. Still, it will be NBD this afternoon, so keep yer eyes peeled on here later!
5. John Mc Vie - Fleetwood Mac Mark Bedford - Madness Brian Bethel - 9 below zero David Farren - Bad Manners Boz Burrell - Bad Company Stu Cook - CCR Steve Peregrin Took - T Rex Mark Evans - Ac Dc Just my 2 cents
http://www.guitarguitar.co.uk/electric_guitars_detail.asp?stock=08111716343038#ProductDetail I think this one, Its so John Deacon I,m not too keen on Maple boards but...
7. Thanks for the input chaps. I was toying with the idea of buying another US P Bass after I sold my Stingray. I got a nice MIM in LPB, but its kept more as a backup bass in all honesty.
8. I might be able to go on Saturday, I,m flying out to Oz Sunday Evening.
9. I have been toying with the idea of purchasing an American Standard P bass, but I have not bought a brand new Fender for 16 years. I have spotted a reasonably priced Olympic white/Tort plate unused 2011 model. Are they as good as they used to be? I have read some reviews on newer Fenders, and some are not too clever. I have had a tinker with it in the shop and it feels well made, no crackles or hums and the neck is nice. Just thought I would get an opinion before the dusty old wallet comes out.
10. Hmm! Maybe their roadie has been promoted to drummer?
11. Yes, Its the same with David Bowie, I wanted the tab for Ziggy Stardust and got the same message, and then realised that ALL Bowie tabs are blocked.
12. Wow! This was the first bass guitar I ever owned! (Well, not this actual one) I got it from Exchange & Mart in West Ealing (Precursor to Cash Converters) In the summer of 1982. I got some adhesive stickers to put on the frets with the notes on. And yes, it was a pile of sh*te! I got a Westone Thunder 1 soon after.
13. Heh! Just as I thought. It seems that BC'ers are not gullible enough to fork out their hard earned on something that they probably have on vinyl, CD, Cassette, Remastered USB stick. Still, EMI are expecting some more profits from this 'Bottom Of The Bucket' scraping group!
14. Its usually changing up to a heavier gauge that puts more strain on the neck.
15. Of the first ever single by The Beatles - 'Love Me Do' And here comes the Anniversary Edition!! http://wogew.blogspot.co.uk/2012/09/love-me-do-anniversary-single.html
16. Or you go the rechargeable route. http://www.amazon.co.uk/Lloytron-B046-Battery-Charger-batteries/dp/B0035SLPVW/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1348741377&sr=8-3

18. MMDP has a new rival! Woo Hoo!!
19. Ooh! - Where's me bargepole?
20. Not played any bass today, although I spent a while listing to Are You Ready by Thin Lizzy, and Feeling Good by Muse for next weeks band rehearsal.
21. Thanks for posting that Uncle, The man sounds a complete w***er!
22. Mike Love? The singer? Tell me more
23. A nice Y O B 1964 Precision. Of course I will need an amp and electricity!!
24. I recently restrung my P Bass with the same EB Slinkys that I always use. Dropped the action a touch and gave the neck a tweak. Now I notice there is a significant dead spot on the G sting on the 6th fret. I am sure this wasnt there before, or was it and was not as noticeable?
25.
Mid nineties MIJ '51 re-ish. I believe it might have been the first one in the country. It is the one from the display case at the Fender UK showroom when that was based in Nomis Studios. It was photographed for the review in Guitar Magazine. I've owned it from new. Green leather sets it orf beautifully, don't you think? Ex. Flat Eric CIJ '62 re-ish, no new photo's as yet. It's been tarted up with all US hardware and electrics; GB8 reverse tuners, solid nickel string tree, spiral saddled bridge, Custom Shop P pickups, CTS pots, cloth covered loom, Jensen .047u paper in oil cap. Just requires a period correct pickguard. P*****s all over the Custom Shop Pino model - at a fraction of the cost! New photos when finished..... Carry on. .
I like the colour of that 51 P Bass, what do they call it?
