3. it's the thickness of the strings, i think
 4. i hope that's a sly little joke...
 5.
Would just a boost pedal do the Job? Or does it a matter of eq as well?
i guess that depends if you want the passive to sound more active or just louder... i use an mxr mc401 as a line booster and i'm more than pleased with it...clean, noise-free volume boost.
 6. indeed it was... worth buying the sountech...loud and light !
 7. the single muff setting is more of a torn speaker sound to my ears and my ears like it a lot !
 8.
So the double muff with both circuits engaged sounds like the big muff ? But you have more control over the eq with the big muff ?
i wouldn't say it sounds the same but it's more fuzzy than the single muff setting to me the big muff takes a lot of the punch of the bass sound away...the cascaded double muff isn't so synthy to my ears
 9. the double muff has the option of two sounds... with the single muff it a flappy growl, and the double gets closer to the sound of a big muff...but remember you've got no control over the eq the big muff has more control tone-wise but is more extreme-sounding imho. it's odd you ask as i as comparing the sound of my little big muff and my double muff this afternoon at practised, and i'm almost going in favour of the double muff with both stages engaged
 10. i decided to take my own amp down to band practice today... ampeg svp preamp >> soundtech ps802 power amp >> practice studio's ampeg 8x10 i've had the soundtech for about 3 months but haven't used it in anger with the ampeg... oooh, and did it sounds good...more than enough volume and a room-filling sound !!! the guitarist commented that it sounded a lot more detailed and could hear a lot more nuances to my playing. lots of grind from the valves too...as well as the sight of them glowing away when i turned round. proper job !!!

Take it with you.
myself, i wouldn't be so confrontational unless they start being problematic. as hamster said most well known stores are fine about it. ymmv of course

 13.
I'd look for another band personally.
i'd say the same...it seems like the fact you work together is getting in the way of you enjoying playing bass.
 14.
Cheers for all the advice. Ill no doubt get the red light fever.
i think everyone does...i even get red light fever when i'm recording myself, on my own !!!

As far as I remember it didnt do it new but at some point it just started making a loud pop when switching it on.
my TE head makes terrible noises if you tuen it off without the mute engaged i got it 2nd hand, so i don't know if it's a getting old thing...

 18. saw one on denmark street in london last weekend... something nice to hang on your wall i'm sure !
 19. no to be the heathen here, but get yourself to maplins, buy some van damme cable and a couple of neutriks and learn how to solder. i don't use any bass lead i haven't made myself...some of them have been going for 10 years plus. and if you've made them, you can repair them...i've been at gigs with my soldering kit and repaired other people's leads (and guitars) for them. it normally gets you free beers all night !!!!

 24.
stomping on my Zoom to change patch for a solo only to switch it into "tuner" mode
or stomp onto a pedal next to the tuner and hit the tuner as well especially annoying when you've bit an overdrive pedal for the noise-fest at the end of a song
