1.
Just a quick ask but would any other manufacturers similar product had the same end result? I only ask as I've had a few Behringer products just die in a very short life span and for seemingly obvious things that wouldn't have killed other manufacturers stuff!
all i did was bung 12v into it rather than 9v...i guess it's just behringer build quality or somesuch
Any way you could just send it back and get a replacement? Unlikely I know, but could be worth a try...
possibly, if i hadn't just pulled it apart to see what was wrong and junked it. bit hasty i know, but with the amount they cost, i hardly thought it was worth the bother, should i decide to get another one.
2. brilliant ! thanks for the info
3. yup...accidentally plugged the wrong power supply nto it ans pffft...it's dead - big burnt track on the pcb. i think i'm cursed when it comes to amp simulators...my sansamp was taken out by a malfunctioning electric mistress... not sure i'm going to bother replacing it. /sigh/
4. if you're in london i've got a 'santa ana' (i.e. no-brand) acoustic bass that i'm looking to get rid of. not a bad player and you won't need an amp of course !!! something like £50 ?
5.
To continue the pedantic theme - Silicone contains silicon so in principle if the polish contains silicone it also contains silicon (just not elemental silicon).
i know...but that seemed pedant overload, even for me....
6.
Stay away from Mr. Sheen, that has silicon in and that makes finishing pro's angry. Everyone hates silicon. Unless it hasn't got silicon in and I made that up. Natural beeswax, Rustins wood finishing products are all good.
some polishes may contain silicone, but not silicon sorry if i sound pedantic, but there's quite a difference...
7. couldn't see these in the sticky so... i) does anyone know the dimensions of the badass III (a diagram would be nice) ? ii) do they have the same problem with not being able to have an action as low as the stock fender bridge ? many thanks
8. that's a cryings shame - i used to go in there quite a bit when i lived in newcastle. he did good quality work for next to nothing - fitting nuts, set-ups and stuff. i bought my musicman sabre from him as well (for £550 !!!) sad to hear about his heart attack...glad he's getting better tho' /raises glass/ here's to howard !!!
9. mains powered and valve driven ? an aria td-1 platinum drive ? i'm more than happy with mine...no blend i'm afraid, but the eq is very good - you'll lose no bottom end
10. i've had my eye on a '81 for a while now.
11. i use an aria td-1 platinum overdrive for overdrive sounds and a ehx little big muff for full-on grind
12. none (well, two radio sessions...)
13. that's a nice bit o' wood !!!!
14. sorry to hear about it jono...i had this many years ago...a result of too much keyboard work (directory enquiries) and band bass habit. fingers crossed that with a bit of rest and posture re-think you'll be ok. the killer was that i had to stop playing bass for a few weeks...but it was worth it in the long run. fingers crossed for you mano

Modding a CS-3
Finally ordered the monte allum kit - went for the opto plus. Reviews to follow asap
i'd be very interested to hear how it sounds after the mod...i've had one for years, and apart from using it to coax lots of feedback out of my telecaster i find it almost entirely useless. at the very least i'm intending to change the input cap to stop it sucking bass.
16. top stuff...always nice to some modding yourself
17. my 1979/80 sabre's something stupid like 12 lbs... it hurts it does
18. neat bit of work
19.
big muffs all models work equally well with passive or active basses
my lbm certainly does
20.
That's not necessarily the case - It depends on the pedal and the bass and what sound you like/want.
totally in agreement - i use both active and passive basses and use overdrives all the time. i don't think you can say that active basses don't work well with overdrives...i get good sounds with both. ymmv of course
21. niiiiice
22. i tried one when i was in new york a few years ago and was just plain appalled how such an expensive pedal sounds so horrible. i couldn't get one useable sound out of it, even with the guy in the shop's help. ymmv of course
23.
is that a jaguar?
no - it's a fender vi...it's like a quitar, but tuned an octave lower...E to E still a bass though !
24. my 1979 sabre only cost me £550 i'd haggle VERY hard

Distortions
yeah must say the price did tempt me, can pick up one for 25 quid on the 'bay! Nick oliveri is the former bassist of the Queens of the stone age, he played a p bass through an overdriven ampeg svt. just ragged gritty but not too ott tone. cheers, Nick
then i'd say go buy one ! ragged it certainly the way i'd describe it ! it's certainly not polite, but then i don't like polite
