1. There may be minor variations in component values that would change the EQ frequencies slightly, and here http://www.musicmanb...tompage0019.htm it suggests that "Audiophiles would argue that the electrolytic has a more mellow and pleasing tone to the ear." Maybe that's it ?
2.
I thought people might find it interesting who is actually buying the higher price ticket Foderas in the UK. We've sold just three basses in the £10K area (two in the past year and one a couple of years ago). The first went to a full time professional player. I don't think it's his main gigging bass but it certainly gets used a lot. He teaches every day and is out playing several nights a week. Not a 'name' player but definitely a proper working pro. The next went to a university student. It's his only instrument so he uses it every day. He's also a very regular functions band player and teaches every day. In order to pay for it he took on more gigs and more students. He's now at Berklee and his Fodera travelled with him. The third is a teacher. He's an 'everyday' state school teacher and plays in a couple of bands - one originals and one covers. He already has one, very nice Fodera Standard model and his custom build is due for completion soon. All three of these guys are regular working people and not big money earners buying something as a status symbol. They are are all universally nice blokes as well who just wanted something to inspire them and chose a Fodera to do so
Thanks for the info !
3. A rotten thing to have happen to you Get onto the police, without a doubt - the person may have done it before and your info might help.
4.
I think I'll buy me three to hang over the mantelpiece. Those ceramic ducks are looking a bit dated
Much better than ceramic ducks too - you can burn the Foderas when you're bored of 'em...
5.
Working class sense of humour is about the last option we have...
What's a 'working class sense of humour' ?
6. My pet peeve is people using a demo of a bass to show off their playing (and I know I'm not alone in this) Slapping and playing a bass 19 to the dozen tells you nothing about how the bass sounds, I like to hear legato playing with plenty of sustained notes to hear how the bass sounds...
7.
Our personal tastes , preferences and opinions all have a place as does historical fact. If there were no Beatles or Stones there would have been no Jimi. If it were not for The Beatles and Stones in terms of rock and pop nobody would have even had a reason to take interest in the UK.
C'mon, point of order here - those aren't facts, they're opinions.
8.
I use Servisol Super 10.
Me too, NOT WD40.
9. If someone buys an $11,000 bass then it's worth $11,000 to them...if you don't think that bass is worth it then you're not the target market. What something is worth in comparison what it costs is entirely down to personal choice. My wife spent £600 on a coat a few months ago. I cannot see why it's worth that much, and that's why I wouldn't spend that much on a coat. She loves it and thinks it's worth every penny.
10.
I guess I'll contact Warwick and see how much a new tuner is going to set me back . :-( Wish me luck! Ciao
Angle one for free if you can.....very disappointed, surprised, usually legendary relaibility, etc. You never know !
11. Could it have taken a knock in the past which started a crack on the move ? I suppose you'll never know, but as discreet said, good job on the spare. Next time you restring you could dismantle the tuners to check they're OK, but it sounds like a bit of rotten luck to me.
12. Excellent ! Used to do the tune in a covers band, but with the one bass ! - nice job. As an aside - it's got almost a Cure-like sound to my ears...must be the bass melody line and the layered basses giving it a Fender VI vibe.
13.
LOVE that Shark!
Thanks...now no longer mine, but it was as lovely bass.
14. The Victoria Line, mainly
15. No idea - have you got in contact with Preston at Wounded Paw ? He's a very helpful chap.

Aaaah, I thought it was the Poodle's work....shame cos those enclosures look great. Think I'll still go for one of the FuzzDog ones tho !
20. You need that much bass boost on an Ashdown ? They're naturally bass-heavy IMHO. Every Ashdown I've played has benefited from cutting the bass - try starting off with the rotary at ~9 o'clock and go from there. I'd say cut that bass and turn up, you really are boosting a huge amount of bass there, especially if you're using the shape control as well.
Where are the PCBs and ICs from bud? Looking great!! Si
I think I know....and based on nick's comments and excellent work, I'll be ordering one very soon !
22. And what a show...Prescott were superb...angular and minimal. Mrs Pook and I had a groovy time indeed.
23. It used to be that if I tried to tap my foot I'd go out of time...but if I don't it kind of happens, but not all the time.
24. Have you thought about something with a mix control for a bit of parallel compression ? I've got a VFE White Horse and I'm not sure if it would fit the bill for you in terms of style of compression, but I find the blend control's great for bringing back some the initial attack.
